Hello Y'all
I would like to propose that for January discussion, we read or refresh our memories on Wicked by Gregory Maguire. It is a retelling of the story of the Wicked Witch of the West, and, "what really happened in Oz." Usually over the holidays, The Wizard of Oz is one of those movies that many of us like to see, and the musical is very popular lately, so I thought it might be a fun start to our book discussion. mrgreen
Please add your suggestions to this thread for other books you have wanted to read and would like to discuss in future months.
Some of my favourites include Eragon, Eldest, Inkheart, Harry Potter series, Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, The Giver, The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, Terry Goodkind's series, Life of Pi, books by Canadian authors such as Timothy Findley and Margaret Atwood, etc . etc. etc.
On my own list of books to read, I have Abarat, His Dark Materials Trilogy, Inkspell, and I would like to reread Narnia and The Lord of the Rings. I also am interested in reading Neil Gaiman's Sandman series of graphic novels. Peregrinus Maximus loves them, but I just haven't gotten into them yet...
So, let's hear some suggestions from those of you who want to participate. I'll start a thread in the next while to discuss books that are being made into films, and in January I'll post some discussion questions for Wicked.

I can go with that. I haven't read it yet and I keep meaning to buy it after everything you've told me about it.
I think I'm going to make my goal to read every fantasy book written rofl so I'll go with whatever smile

OH! I suggest The divine comedy by Dante. Its a beautiful poetically written book that due to circumastance was never able to read past the 14th canto. I would love to take the time to read this through as t is a very beautify crafted tale about ones journey into hell, back out and into heaven. My brain is just salivating at the thought of picking this up again!

I know many people consider them to be "Young Adult" reading material, but I really enjoy reading the Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia Wrede, the Dealing with Dragons series. It is too hilarious. A fractured fairy tale series. My husband bought Wicked for me for Christmas, and I haven't read it yet, so I could go along with that one!
