Green orbs looked ahead at a glinting bug in the sun's rays. It was shiny, so he had to follow it, he couldn't not follow it, it was so intriguing the way it shined! Reminded him of his first friend Mana, oh yes she was pretty. He hoped she would come back again soon. He pounced. Small black and white figure jumping forward, then crouching down again.

He missed.

Flicking his tail Hayate focused moreso on the bug now. Why did he have to be so small compared to the rest of his family? He was the runt of them all, that was for sure. The youngest, the smallest, but perhaps the most adventurous? Could be, but it was so frustrating always being so small. Meh. He dealt with it. Perhaps he would get bigger then everyone else when he grew bigger. Yes, that would be nice.

Perhaps he would make a new friend today.

Tamu stretched out his limbs, his jaws spreading wide in a great yawn, revealing his razor-sharp fangs. It was another day. Another long, boring, sunny day. But he didn't much mind. It was nice to live like this, with hardly any worries at all. He could sleep the day away if he wished, or perhaps he could go hunting and tone out his muscles. Maybe even...

Stumble upon a little cub.

Raising up from his stretches, he shook out his mane and looked out over the land. Something was moving out there, something small and dark. The heir to the Kusini lands narrowed his eyes, attempting to get a better look at what it might be out there. Unable to tell from how far away he was, he decided to investigate. He gave his mane one more shake before he took off lazily in the direction of the young cub. He was in no real hurry.

Within a matter of minutes, he came upon a small feline. He couldn't tell what it was though. It had the tail of a leopard cub, but seemed built more like a lion. It confused the great big male.

"Hey there, little guy," he purred kindly, approaching Hayate more slowly than before. He didn't want to startle the cub...

Hayate was focused now. A smirk upon his maw, hind end in the air wriggling back and forth along with his tail. He inched forward slowly, determined look in his eyes, then when he pounced...it jumped away, and he missed again.

The cub sighed and rolled over onto his back, then his green eyes were on another form, a brown one, and it was huge! He squeaked and rolled over to stand on his paws and he crouched down, was it going to hurt him? It didn't look like mom or dad so...what was it?

"H-hi?" he said in a soft question, it seemed nice, whatever it was. Perhaps it knew his dad, and came to send him home? No! Hayate didn't want to go home yet. "I'm Hayate...who're you?" tail flicking back and forth.

This fellow seemed strange.

Tamu frowned slightly and stopped in his steps as he saw that the cub seemed a bit frightened. He didn't look dangerous or scary did he? Perhaps it was his great size and fluffy appearance. Yes, perhaps that was it. It had to be. After all, this was just a cub, and there were plenty of strange things that could scare such a creature.

"It's nice to meet you Hayate," he said softly, attempting to keep his tone as friendly as possible. "My name is Tamu'jitu, or just Tamu for short." He smiled down at the cub. Such an adorable thing...

Laying down on his belly so as to not appear so big anymore, the heir to the Kusini throne flicked his tail and purred curiously at the cub. "What are you doing way out here all alone?" he asked, seeming genuinely concerned. There were lots of demons wandering around that could easily pick up a cub and finish it off with one swift movement. He wouldn't want that happening, not at all.

"You should be careful out here."

Hayate tilted his head at the brown form, he seemed nice, a soothing voice like his father and brother. He couldn't be bad could he? He straightened himself out and tried to look bigger by puffing his chest out slightly, but even doing that he still looked too small and he sighed.

"Tay-moo...Ta-moo...Tamu, Tamu I like that name," Hayate said smiling, playing Tamu's name off his tongue until he got it right. He had a long name like Mana's but a short version as well. SO interesting! Perhaps they might have met before?

"I followed a bug," the bug! Hayate quickly looked around and ran in a circle trying to find the shining bug, but it was gone, his ears fell back, it was a pretty bug. "I am careful I think," Hayate said with a smile. Obviously oblivious to what could really happen if he stayed out here too long all by himself.

"Your so fluffy," he spoke, getting closer to Tamu and poking at his mane. He wanted one of those fluffy things too one day! That woudl be nice. "What're you doing out here Tamu?" he asked, tilitng his head.

Tamu purred, amused by this little cub. He seemed so curious and just so full of life! It was amazing how much cubs could make him feel like running around and tumbling like a cub himself. Oh, if only he could still do that. But he was about to become king of an entire pride. There was no time for play-stuff like that...

Smiling, his eyes gleaming with a pride he didn't quite understand, he continued to watch Hayate. It just made him feel all warm and fuzzy inside to see the cub stumble over his name a few times before getting it right. Little cubs were absolutely adorable! He only wished that his, when he had some, would be this lovely and cute.

"Thank you," he said kindly. "I like yours too."

At the mention of a bug and as Hayate looked around and ran in a circle, the big lion looked around himself, attempting to find whatever bug it was that the cub had been following. Finding nothing, he turned back to the other with a slight frown on his face. Had he ever chased bugs as a cub? He couldn't remember.

His attention was broken, however, when the mostly black cub commented on how fluffy he was and even poked his great mane a little. Tamu chuckled.

"I am rather fluffy aren't I? And look at this mane!" he laughed, finding his own mane amusing for some reason. "I can't remember when it got so big." He really couldn't.

"Oh, well I was taking a walk before I went back home and took a rest," he said, smiling. "What are you doing out here so late? Won't your parents be worried?" What if Hayate didn't have any parents, and was an orphan. Suddenly the brown lion felt bad. He didn't want to bring up any bad memories or anything...

Hayate smiled and laughed and poked at Tamu's mane a bit more, "I want one too someday!" he said smirking and rolling over, as if to amuse Tamu a bit. He loved making others laugh, perhaps the one thing he could do on his own which didn't even relate to his size.

"A walk? Walks are nice, thats how I met my frist friend," Hayate said with a nod and a flick of his tail. "Walking is fun, whY I'm here, I blame the bug too, it was too shiny for its own good. My parents? Well, they might, I don't think they're too far from here..." Hayate looked around.

Well actually, he didn't remember coming this way. His ears fell back and he crouched down low. Where was his mommy and daddy afterall? "I actually...don't remember which way to go..." his voice was getting softer, he was nervous, he was trying to resist the urge to shake. But he was scared.

The heir to the Kusini lands chuckled at the young cub. "Maybe you will have one like mine one day!" he encouraged. Though, he didn't know if the cub really would. Was it a lion or a leopard? He really couldn't tell, which made him very ashamed of himself. A new friend and he didn't even know what it was!

Shaking out his mane to sort of tease Hayate, he smiled and purred. "Yes, walks are very nice. They help to keep off the fat," he joked, talking more about himself than anything. He was already a fluffy lion, and he didn't need to make himself look any bigger with some unwanted fat. Besides, he didn't think Masuka would very much enjoy a fat prince. Best to stay slim for her.

As the young cub talked about his parents, Tamu's round ears perked forward slightly. So he did have parents. Good, now he wouldn't feel bad about mentioning the subject. Yet when it was mentioned that he didn't know which way he had come from, he frowned slightly and glanced around.

"Maybe I can help you find them?" he offered, feeling as if he had to do something to help. He knew that if he had any cubs he wouldn't want them missing for any amount of time. "I'm sure they'll be very worried if you don't return before nightfall."

Hayate giggled and shook his head, as if urging the fuzz to grow from it, "Would be so neat! I want fluff on my head too!" he rolled over into Tamu and smiled and laughed. Then he pawed at Tamu's side, "Tamu doesn't have fat he has fluff, lotsa lotsa fluff," he said smiling and wriggling a bit. Then he rolled over to stand once more.

He peered around with green eyes, trying to settle on where his parents might be, "Could you, please Tamu? I don't want to be lost," he wanted his mom and big brother and siblings around him. Meh, perhaps wandering out on his own today wasn't such a good idea. Perhaps it would've been better to take another nap instead of chasing that darn bug.

"Please?" he asked turning to Tamu with big green eyes.

Tamu chuckled down at the cub. Hayate was so amusing! He wanted to meet more cubs like this. They were fun to be around and they made him feel all warm and fuzzy inside. And for a moment he felt like a cub himself, being able to laugh and roll about with this one here. Oh, how he missed being a cub. Now, as an adult, he was preparing to take over a whole pride! His nerves were definitely frazzled. Though, spending time with Hayate certainly cleared his head.

Laughing slightly, he shook his mane again at the cub. "Some day you might get one like mine. Who knows, it may even be fluffier and better!" His eyes grew wide, as if that would be the most amazing thing he'd ever witness.

As the conversation was turned towards the cub's parents, he glanced around once more, as if wondering to himself which way the parents might be. But he didn't know much about rogues around the Kusini lands, and so he had not the slightest clue of where to go from here.

Rising to his paws, he shook out his mane then looked around again. Glancing down at Hayate, he nudged the cub then picked him up by the scruff of his neck.

"Wher do yu dink they be?" he asked through a mouthful of fur. Maybe Hayate had an idea of which way to head in...

Hayate laughed and rolled with Tamu on the ground. He pawed at the larger lions paws and mane. So fluffy! He so wanted one, perhaps his mommy would know if he would get a mane or not. "That would be so nice, then we could have fluffy manes together you and I!" he said with a smile and flicked his tail. He thought perhaps Tamu might be a bit more serious when he first saw him, but he was just a cub in a grown-ups body for sure.

He watched as Tamu nudged him then he squeaked when Tamu picked him up, not cause he was afraid, just because it took him off guard. He wriggled a bit then stopped, looking around, trying to figure out which way his mommy might be.

"Maybe, that way?" Hayate said, pointing in the direction, surely that direction would be where he came from? Oh, how his mother would be so mad if she had been looking for him all this time. Least Tamu was helping, it was reassuring to Hayate.
PostPosted: Sat Dec 09, 2006 5:55 pm

Tamu moved his head slightly in the direction that the cub had pointed to. But he didn't want to jerk his head too much, for he was still holding the cub in his jaws. He didn't want to make Hayate dizzy or anything like that. It wouldn't be very nice on his part.

"Arigh'," he mumbled, still through a mouthful of fur. As he turned in that specific direction, he began walking, slowly at first. He didn't want to run with the cub, it must be bumpy and terribly uncomfortable to be carried like that. As he walked along, he made sure to keep his head rather high. He didn't want Hayate being bumped into anything or something like that.

Continuing along, his eyes darting this way and that, he attempted to look for something that could offer him a sign of Hayate's parents being nearby. Nothing, though, and he couldn't smell anything besides the normal scent of cub.

"See an'thing yeet?" he asked, hoping at least something looked familiar.

Running around frantically just out of sight of the two males was a rather spooked and thrown-off female. She was Aysha, the mother of Hayate, and she was worried sick about her youngest and smallest child. What could have happened to him? She knew that her cubs liked to wander a bit, but she didn't think any of them would ever stay out for this long. It was almost dark!

"Hayate!" she called, a high tone of worry in her voice. Oh dear...

Hayate was dangled in the air, but it didn't hurt at all, just felt, strange to say the least. Green eyes wandered around, trying to spot his siblings, Ger, his dad or mom. Oh how he wanted his mommy right about now. He was probably worrying her to death, and he felt so bad for it. He hoped she wouldn't be too mad at him. It was all that stupid bug's fault. He didn't think he would get lost like he did.

He was lucky to have run into Tamu.

Hayate looked about, trying to see something, but didn't, but he did hear something. A voice, so familiar, his name, he smiled and wriggled a bit, "Thats my mommy's voice! She has to be over there she has to Tamu!" He wriggled a bit, because he wanted to be let down and walk beside Tamu when they got there. Either way, soon he would be home with his mommy.
PostPosted: Sun Dec 10, 2006 2:09 pm

Tamu's round ears perked slightly as the cub said something about hearing his mother's voice. Focusing his attention, he noticed that there was indeed someone calling out Hayate's name. He perked, happy that they didn't have to look too far in order to find his mother.

Placing the cub on the ground, he purred and nudged the younger male. He had really enjoyed the time they had spent together, and he hoped that they would meet up again in the near future. If Hayate and his parents lived close by, then perhaps that wasn't compeltely out of the question. Oh, how nice it would be to hang out with him more and watch him grow up into a fine big cat...

"Go to your mother, now," he urged, flicking his tail. "Don't make her worry any longer." Then, with one last nudge to the cub, the heir to the Kusini lands turned around and headed back towards his home, leaving the cub to be found by his mother. He knew everything would go well with them, there was no doubt in his mind. But he felt that he need not interfere with them. He figured he'd only cause too much trouble and too many questions would be raised against him. Thus, he left.

"We'll meet again, Hayate!" he called back over his shoulder as he disappeared into the darkening horizon.

"My boy!" the black and white lioness cried as she spotted Hayate all by himself. Immediately she ran up to him and smothered him in thick kisses, her smooth tongue rolling over his fur gently.

"I was so worried about you! Come, it's getting late and you must be tired. Let's go home," she spoke quickly, her nerves obviously fried from the scare that he had given her. "Oh you must be so scared!" she wailed, her voice trailing off into a worried-mother rant. Nudging him on the behind, she then picked him up by the scruff and presently began carrying him back home.

Hayate smiled and nodded to Tamu, waved with his small paw and started towards where his mother was. Would be nice to see Tamu again, who knows, maybe the next time they meet he will have a fluffy mane too! "Mommy!" he yelled when he saw her and ran up to her. Soon he was smuthered by kissed then picked up again, "I'm sorry MOmmy..." he said softly, and watched as he was carried.

He yawned and closed his eyes, he would be back home snuggled up to his mom soon, and he could dream about his new friend Tamu adn the fun they had.
