I don't know if this should be posted here or not but I have a question for us as gothic metal fans in general. (I hope I used the terminology correctly)

What I mean by an 'Evanescence Moment' is a time when somebody who lacks an understanding of the genre of WT and many other bands applies Evanescence to bands and situations from this genre. An example, which I read in another topic here, of this is when somebody dislikes WT or any other gothic metal band because they think that Evanescence is the best band ever. I am sure many of us have had them and I am curious as to what your is.

Mine is this: I let my friend listen to The Gathering on a car ride and I explained to them that they are metal and the first thing he says is that they are not metal because they don't sound like Metallica. I explain that it is a different sub-genre for metal. He immediately decides that Evanescence is in this genre because Lacuna Coil is. When I try to explain it to him he says that if The Gathering is metal Evanescence is.

I've seen people have thos moments Except not liek that. I've seen them actually say a WT song was an Evanesece song. ><

Just voicing my opinion. I wasn't aware it was a crime.

The meaning of my first post in this thread was that people not being aware of something, is being ignorant to it. So people have little, or no, knowlegde about metal, is being ignorant.

But as they say, Ignorance is bliss....

The fact that you asked about something that confused you is something to be respected. After all, how many people stay quiet in the face of confusion?

okay heres mine if it counts some guy came into the metal forum and said the MurderDolls were metal, 10 people told him that they werent and he said yes they were so we asked him what genre. His reply.......Death Metal crying

Also someone said that Evanescence was emo.....i almost imploded.

yeah it was my firend i gave her a look and i turned really red and i said "evanescence are NOT emo." her reply, " are you sure because she is so depressed all the time." burning_eyes burning_eyes burning_eyes
