I wanted to reserve this topic. wink
Here in the Czech Republic the first movie should come to our cinemas this month, precisely at the end of it.
The English premiere should be on Dec 15 I think, so it's very close. blaugh
Have you read the books? Do you want to see the movies? Are you interested in fantasy?
I am, it's one of my greatest hobbies, I like watching it, reading it and that's why I created this topic.
And here's the casting:
Do you like it?

I've never read the book, but a lot of my friends are really into. I dunno, unlike most Gaians, fantasy has never really been my cup of tea.

I haven't seen it yet. The premiere is on Dec 14 here in big cities and at the end of the month in smaller cities.
I'll see it on Dec 28 or later. So maybe you will tell me how it was. wink

I played part of the game.... and found it to be really overdone... the game i mean... and the movie, for me, looks like its trying to copy many other fantasy types... but none the less... i think it will still be good... i still wont watch it though

Similar stories, similar heroes... Yet, I like watching them. I find them to be modern fairy-tales.

professorB Ooh, John Malkovich is in it. mrgreen Yes, he's in it but won't play much in the first movie. He was shooting 2 days only.
And Jeremy Irons and Robert Carlyle are there. Great actors both.

This movie was dispicably horrible. It did not adhere to the book at all. The book was entirely butchered and I am extremely upset that Hollywood even thought to release this movie. It didn't make any sense. Essential parts of the book were completely removed, there was no character development, all the actors sucked except Jeremy Irons, the make up artist (if they indeed had one) was horrible, and the movie was too short. I hated it. The movie cut out way too much, making it seem like the entire epic story happens in two days. The elf woman doesn't even look elvish, let alone act like an elf. She acts like a prissy thirteen year old. It was irritating. The only thing good about the movie was the CG. That is it. For those of us that read the book this was a complete and total disaster. I give this movie a negative 10 and then some. I don't even want to think about how they are going to make Eldest. If I was Christopher Paolini I would sue.

To be fair, I haven't read the book and I don't like fantasy. But I thought it was boring. And I don't see why the lead is "so hot."

That's why I finally didn't see it.

I have read the books, I like fantasy and I think Speleers looks good but after reading through so many negative comments, I didn't watch the movie.
