I really enjoy ddr. One of my favorite songs to play is Butterfly. I also like Captian Jack, I do I do, and Dariram. (I'm not sure on the spelling of the last song). They're on the arcade DDR Extreme machine. I have to play on beginner though.
I've never heard of step mania. What is that?

My favorite DDR songs are V (which is a techno-ized version of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons"), Speed over Beethoven, and Captain Jack.
There are a couple of others, but their names are in Japanese, so I can't really report them. *shrug*

My fav song has to be Speed over Beethoven on heavy, even though I nearly broke both my legs when I tripped over the coffee table, fell, and both my ankles got severly fractured. It was worth it though...
