To make it look like it's being drawn. It's pretty cool... I made it for my art shop rofl

Tell me what you think! (of the animation, and the drawing)
EDIT: Link to the actual drawing (not looking for too many crits, really) [~x~]

Wow, Mel, it looks AMAZING! Not only is the anatomy and drawing itself perfect, but the animation really gives it appeal. Great job!

rofl thanks a bunch!
I don't know if the anatomy is perfect... I drew it without refferences as a doodle in science class, and then decided to ink it to see how it looked ^^;
Wow. Now that I look at the writing... O_o I have to figure out how a paint dam gave birth to a pitch black horse o_o;;;

Hrm.. Mel.. would you LIKE some anatomy crits? xd Oh well, you get the basics anyway. I realize that it's a doodle, so I'm just pointing out major flaws instead of picky details xp (as in things that should not even occur in doodles / things that are absolutely universal for every horse due to their basic skeletal frame / things that make Epona cry). This is necessary enough just to avoid future (major) conformation mishaps. Please don't take too much offense - it's a life or death matter. I promise. twisted 1) There is no chest [doodle or not, it doesn't take much effort to draw a line denoting some presence of a chest] - instead there's just... the base of the neck... and regardless of how high the horse's head is, during a gallop like that, it has got to extend somewhat from the chest instead of being drawn BACK. 2) The highest point of the hindquarters is ALWAYS right around the point of the hip, not the croup. Note le diagram: http://www.ansi.okstate.edu/resource-room/general/horse/horse.gif 3) With the forehand raised that much and where the hindquarters are placed in your drawing, the horse's back would not dip down and come back up; it would be straight. The hind feet are underneath the horse's body and the front legs are very high, so the hindquarters should be even with or below the withers in this position, definitely not above. 4) This is definitely the biggest one, and I say this every time... horse's stomachs are not shaped like that. Regardless of how thin the horse is, horse stomachs are convex, not concave. http://www.staljongsma.nl/Afbeeldingen/wiets.jpg http://www.unicorn-meadow.co.uk/horses/xmashorse/images/Morning_Walk4683.JPG http://the2rs.com/images/Royalty_Spanish_Walk_5_350x345.jpg http://www.gotpetsonline.com/pictures-gallery/horse-pictures-breeders-foals/american-quarter-horse-pictures-breeders-foals/pictures/american-quarter-horse-0193.jpg

xd I do do that too much, but on the contrary on what you're saying, there are times where it will look concave. It all depends on how the horse is possitioned. I realize that that was an inappropriate time to possition it as such (And I DO over-extend it), but: http://www.imh.org/imh/bw/images/atdres.jpg http://www.lizlangford.com/Graphics/Bayrod.JPG http://files.myopera.com/kg1.foresights/albums/85459/thumbs/Arabian Horse-2.jpg_thumb.jpg (this effect was hindered by the stomach >.<) http://www.qatarembassy.net/Qatar Gallery/arabian Horses/slides/Arabian Horses in Qatar 17.jpg http://www.monarchtbs.com/images/horses/Borrego (2000 Brown Horse)/img2.jpg
I really didn't pay attention to rider or horse leg/arm possitioning either... and I swear the whithers were up before I drew the rider rofl Not even joking. I was appalled when I did about the fourth frame of animation, at how low the shoulders were. It was rather funny because my dad walked by right when I screamed "WHAT THE FUNK WAS THAT?!" rofl

Firstly - The only thing concave about those horse's stomachs are the flaps of skin connecting the hind legs to the body. It will only look like that when the hind legs are extended (or when the hind leg is straight [as in a standing position] but still stretched back a little), not when the horse has his legs gathered under himself, and still, that's not the stomach itself. And secondly - hehehehe. xd I don't express my frustrations with drawings quite as loudly lol... I tend to just hiss under my breath at them / furiously erase things / sit in awkward, angry silence. I paint a lot when I'm on the phone with my friends, and they know I've messed something up when I start ignoring them or mumbling under my breath at the painting lol..

well I like it, and as you said its just a doodle. and most people dont really concentrate that much on the anatomy of what they are drawin when its just a doodle. I myself am trying to draw horses better, so I practice from real pictures, but thats just me.
also, can I have your permission to try and replicate your drawing, so I can better my art skills?

oh, just two last things also. 1.) I think the animation is just a tad too fast, but thats just me. 2.) how do you draw hair like in the tail? I have absolutely no clue and its bugging me to death that I cant draw a decent tail.....

@Elisha: Pshuh, that's what I said rofl I tend to leave the stomach shown under the flanks alone, or erase it because it wont go right. And yeah, I cuss at my art alot. I'm kind of in a rut where I'm not improving at all.
Nicole: It;s copyrighted, so you can't post the replication on the internet anywhere, just to let you know, unless you credit me and Nightstar Art. You can go ahead and replicate it, though. 1. If I slow it down, it gets chunky, so I can't really. Just because of how big I made the frames. 2. I draw a single line showing where the tail's going to go, I thinken the line where the tail bone is, and then I draw light, flowing lines off of that, following the flow of the tail. And then I just trace the lines I want to keep and connect it as a tail.

tempest_foal I think it looks great! How did you do that?! ^^ Draw it or animate it? If you're asking how I drew it, I took a pencil and doodled a horse. Uh... for animation, I just chopped it up and put the peices together? It's hard to explain. @Ragdoll: XD thanks a bunch! My people are generally more 3D than that one, but hey, I like it still x)
