Gharadi blinked as his eyes adjusted to the new-coming light of a new day. Yawning he rose and stretched his arms and back, shook his head from side to side to have his 'mane' look more presentable. He hated when his pre-manly mane stuck up in different directions, it just made him look strange. He didn't need others thinking he was strange.

He looked around, and slowly began to pad off from where he and his mother rested. He wanted to go on a little adventure on his own today, would be nice to get out on his own again. Who knows what he might find while he was alone. Sometimes he had the idea like his mother would scare off any possible friends, but he loved his mother dearly regardless of her actions. She was just protective of him, like how he was protective of her and his sister.

He had to go visit her soon.

Females, so hard to understand, but he was getting to the point in his life when he was beginning to find them fascinating. Though he kept that from his mother. He didn't want Sehani to think that he was going to run off with some girl and leave her all alone. He wouldn't just have a fling with a female either, he wanted to be a gentleman to who he believed was the right one for him. Though he dreamt of it sometimes, embarrased he was about it, the female he sought in his dreams never had a face for him to recognize.

Ah well, perhaps someday he would find her.

Making friends with girls would be a nice first step though. To find what they liked, didn't like, to have his group of friends grow larger, he was always on the lookout to make more friends. As he padded along he traveled through some tall brown grass. It seemed to have dried up here a bit, probably lack of rains here. The blades brushed up against his pelt as he continued along, eyes focused on that that lay before him.

A new day had begun.

Salem had been wide awake for quite a while now, almost since dawn. That's what time the humans in her village had normally woken up to start the day, and so she had just gotten into the habit of waking up that early too. And she never seemed to tired from waking up so early, so she didn't bother to change her schedule.

Soaking up the early morning rays from the sun, she purred and stretched out on her belly. The lands out here were simply beautiful! She wondered how she had ever lived so long inside the village, missing all of this wonderful scenery. Why hadn't she left earlier? Hm, perhaps it had been because she hadn't really had a motivation before. Since the village had caught fire and everyone perished, she had had a motivation to get a move on into the wild world.

Feeling warm enough to take a little walk, the mostly black lioness rose to her paws and stretched out her limbs. It felt good, and within moments she was energized and ready to take on the new day.

Humming lightly to herself, she started off in a random direction. What would happen to her today?

Gharadi walked calmly, looking around, breathing deep. Was nice to get away sometimes, be on his own, but being by himself for long periods of time was scary, he didn't like it much. He would so rather have the company of another at his side, right now, that wasn't the case. Continuing along he saw some black figure on the horizon. A friend perhaps?

He began to pad along quicker, quick enough to get there faster, slow enough to not look like a threat. He was still pretty young for a lion, though he wished he was older many a time. As he got nearer, the silouette became thinner, a lion? No, a lioness? He felt a swelling of nervousness well up inside him. He tried to push it away, perhaps she would like to be friends?

As he approached, he has a smile upon his maw, to look friendly, he had never seen a lioness such as her before. "Hello," he said when approaching, then he stopped a bit away from her, in case she might be nervous as well, "I'm Gharadi," he said with a puff of his chest, to either impress her or make her laugh, either would be nice.

Salem continued walking along, the warm rays of the sun being easily soaked up by her dark fur. She loved her fur, and there wasn't a single thing about it that she would change. It kept her warm and she believed that it looked rather pretty. At least, the humans she had lived with had made her believe it. But what if the wild lions didn't like it? Ah well...

Glancing around, her liquid blue eyes noticed something moving towards her. It was going faster than a walk, but not so fast that it looked like it was going to harm her or anything. Stopping, she smiled to herself and waited for whatever it was to come closer. As it did, she noticed that it was a lion! Oh, how excited she was!

"Oh!! Wild lion! Wild lion!" she cried, her body nearly wriggling with great anticipation. This was the whole reason she had left her human home, to come and meet wild lions, to become one of them!

"Hello Gharadi!" she said excitedly. "I'm Salem. You are a wild lion, yes? Oh, I've always wanted to meet one! Where do you live? Do you live with other wild lions? What do you normally eat? The humans ate this stinky stuff that they let sit over this bright, hot thing. It never was really good..." she babbled, speaking of the cooked meat the humans used to feed her.

"Oh I'm so excited!"

Gharadi smiled at her. Her pelt was black but her eyes were like the azure blue of some watering holes he had seen so far in his lifetime. She seemed so energetic and happy, but...a wild lion? She was a wild lion was she not, being out here? Hazel eyes watched ehr and ears perked up listening to her voice.

It was fast, it babbled, but it was soft yet strong, interesting combination he noted. He tried to keep up with her words, but wild, was she not...humans?! She had lived with humans before? Well, that must've made sense. He noticed a few scars upon her form, he hoped the humans hadn't done that to her.

"Slow down, slow down, excited a bit are we? To try and answer in order, I live with my mother out here in the rogue lands, my sister is back in the pridal lands my mother and I left. And we usually eat meat, just the other day my mom and I took down a wildabeast together, was great fun..."

He sat back onto his haunches and watched her, he felt ...strange. He hadn't felt this way when he had met Shiri, hmm. How to explain it? But he was curious of her background with humans, "So you lived with humans? How was that, they didn't hurt you did they? Are you going to stay out here now?" he asked curiously.

For some reason, he wished she was.

Salem wiggled her rump a bit, excited that she was finally meeting a wild lion! It had been nearly two weeks since she had left the human tribe, and yet nothing. But now... she was standing face to face with a real wild lion! Oh, she simply couldn't contain her excitement any longer.

"Oh how interesting!" she cried, jumping up on her paws. "It must be nice to live out here with other wild lions, yeah? Oh, I wish I could! I want to make all sorts of friends and travel around and see everything!" She still spoke fast, but not as fast as before. She had taken the hint from him that she had perhaps spoke a little too fast for comprehension.

When the tables were turned and the questions were about her life, she settled down a little. She didn't think her life was so amazing, and so she wasn't as enthusiastic about it all.

"Oh, yes, I did. They were this big... herd. I don't know how to explain it. They lived in caves that they made by themselves, and it was always out in the middle of some place. I don't know why they chose the places that they did." When Gharadi asked about the humans and if they had hurt her, she giggled slightly and shook her head. "No, they never really touched me. But they always treated me like a princess. It was nice and all, but I didn't have any friends.." The last part was said rather dully, as it made her very sad to admit such a thing. Friends were wonderful! It was just a shame that she didn't have any to share her life with at the moment.

And regarding the part about her staying out here..

"Well, I suppose I am!" she exclaimed. "I mean, I don't have anywhere else to go." She giggled, obviously too optimistic and excited for her own good. She wasn't thinking anything about shelter or protection or food...

Life with humans had to be strange yet interesting. But she was treated like a princess? That was good, least they did not harm her. Gharadi heard strange stories of humans carrying sticks that shot out things that stung and made you sick. But least she was alright, they didn't hurt her. Good good.

Having no friends there had to be hard, Gharadi wasn't sure what he'd do if he didn't have any friends to look forward to seeing again. He liked his friends, they were so important to him. His mother too. He guessed that her family didn't live there with her, sad. He would truly wither away if he didn't know where his mother was at all.

"Traveling is nice, thats why my mom and I came out here, its nice. But hard to hunt sometimes, lots of others out here wanting the same food and shelter, but my mom and I stick together," he said with a nod, rather proud of him and his mother's bond between each other. "Have you hunted anything since you got out here Salem?"

The mostly black lioness watched Gharadi, eyes wide with great excitement. She was nearly crouching (like a little cub waiting to hear the most interesting tale) as she listened to him, round ears perked to their fullest. It was obvious that she loved to hear about wild lions and the way that they lived. And that was because she wanted to learn all she could.

Concerning the friends part, Salem didn't much mind. Sure, she would have loved to have someone to talk to out here and to share her adventures with, but of course she wasn't completely miserable at the moment.

"Oh, your mother!" she exclaimed, lifting her head and glancing around. She wondered if this male's mother was anywhere nearby.

"Hunting?" she questioned, tilting her head to the side. She knew what the gist of it all was, but she didn't really know anything about it. Yet from the sound of it, from what Gharadi had said, it sounded a bit difficult. And if two wild lions had trouble hunting, then how would she fare? Oh, she feared what might happen. She'd have to learn very quickly!

Lifting her head again, she blinked at Gharadi. "I don't know how to hunt," she stated simply.

Gharadi blinked as he watched Salem. She seemed so eager to hear about everything and anything, it was intriguing yet confusing at the same time. But it was also nice, just being able to talk with another, having him be somewhat the center of attention, especially with a female. He wondered why he didn't feel so nervous like he usually did around girls.

"Yes, she's...around here somewhere..." he looked around, perhaps she was sun bathing again? Or walking around, sometimes she would do things he hadn't thought of quite yet, maybe finding water too. "If I can find her, I'd love for you to meet her, she could give you some pointers," he said nodding reassuringly, "she is teaching me to hunt to...seems team work is the best way to go about it..."

The young lioness smiled brightly at Gharadi.

"Oh that would be wonderful!" she exclaimed, referring to him offering to introduce her to his mother. She wanted to meet all of the wild lions around! She wanted to travel everywhere and make all sorts of friends, and maybe even hunt with them! Oh, wouldn't that be exciting. She'd learn how to hunt and then she'd find a home with all the wild lions. It would be a dream come true.

"Yes, I suppose team work is good.. aren't the animals you--we, I mean--eat rather big? I've seen some walking around while I was traveling..." Or maybe that had just been something random, something that wild lions actually didn't hunt. How embarassing would that be! Oh, she hoped it had been prey she had spotted.

"Do you make lots of kills?" she inquired, obviously still intrigued.

Gharadi smiled and stood up and stretched his forelegs, "Then lets go look for her? Perhaps she's nearby," he said flicking his tail. He smiled and laughed on the inside when Salem asked about prey. She really didn't get away much when she was with those humans did she?

"Some can be big, yes, you might've seen a wildabeast...antelope are smaller though..." he said with a nod, peering around to where his mother might be. Figures when he wanted her again he couldn't remember which way to go.

"Welll er-...to tell the truth, I haven't really...gone hunting on my own yet..." he was embarrased about it, perhaps if he could hunt on his own he could get Salem something to eat.
PostPosted: Sun Dec 17, 2006 9:42 pm

Salem's eyes grew a bit wide. "Now?" she cried, louder than she had really wanted to. She hadn't really expected to meet two lions within the first hour of the morning, and she wasn't sure if she was ready for it. Sure, she wanted to meet all the wild lions there were to meet, but not all at one time. She may have been naive and chipper, but that didn't mean she wasn't nervous at times.

The one thing the lioness was afraid of was rejection. She didn't know how wild lions acted or lived or anything of the sort. She feared she would make a mistake, a dire mistake, and pay dearly for it.

Leaving her doubts and fears behind, she attempted to make herself seem completely confident. "Let's go!" she said happily, though there was a bit of a crack in her voice. Nevertheless, she was determined to fit in with the wild lions and to earn her place among them.

Nodding her head, she flicked her tail curiously. "Maybe I have. I don't know, though," she admitted. "I've never had to look at them before."

As Gharadi admitted that he hadn't gone hunting on his own anymore, Salem simply shrugged. She didn't think it was pathetic or anything that he hadn't. After all, how could she look down on him for that when she hadn't been hunting by herself either?

"That's okay!" she said, a bright smile on her face. "We can learn together!"

Gharadi smiled, ears perked up, tail flicking behind him as the grass blades swayed to the gentle push and pull of the wind. "That would be nice...hunting together..." he turned his head slightly and blushed lightly. But then pushed the thoughts from mind, "Right, now...where would my mom be from here?"

He peered around with hazel eyes.

He couldn't see her.

"Lets walk this way, she if she is over there," he said pointing with his paw and then he began to pad steadily in that direction. This was nice, talking with a friend who was out here, new to things. But then another thought crossed his mind;

How would his mom react to him bringing a girl back to meet her?
PostPosted: Mon Dec 18, 2006 12:49 pm

Salem smiled at him, her eyes wide and bright. She was compeltely clueless as to any feelings he might have had towards her, and so she just saw him as a good friend that she would learn to hunt with. How exciting!

"Oh, your mother?" she repeated, looking around once more. She wasn't quite sure if she wanted to meet Gharadi's mother--she had a rather sick feeling in her stomach--but she supposed it wouldn't hurt. Hadn't she come all the way out here to meet all the wild lions she possibly could? Yes! So why was she worrying?

"Alright," she agreed, quickly following after him. She didn't stand to close to him, but she wasn't so far away either. "You don't know where she is?"

And Sehani didn't know where her son was either. Panicking slightly, she paced back and forth, thinking of all the possible places he could be. He couldn't have gone back to visit his sister, could he? That was too far. But where else? She didn't know if he had any other friends or not, and so she was completely clueless.

"Gharadi!" she called, picking a random direction and heading towards it. "Gharadi where are you?"

As she continued on, she spotted two moving figures in the distance. Narrowing her eyes, she noticed that one of them looked strikingly like her son.

"Gharadi!" she cried, run full-out towards him. Coming closer, she skid to a halt, nearly crashing into him. And at first she didn't notice the female standing beside him (who was looking rather wide-eyed and frightened) so she merely glared at her son and shook her head.

"Don't ever do that to me again! Oh, I was so worried about you. Don't you wander off like that again, you hear me? What if something were to happen to you! I don't know what I'd do and--" She stopped noticing Salem for the first time.

"Who're you?" she growled.

Gharadi watched as something approached, at a rather fast pace...ut oh. "Ummm....just stay calm...ok Salem?" he said looking at her for a moment before his mother came bounding up to them. Almost yelling at him, but it was his fault afterall, he was the one that had run off on his own.

"I'm sorry mother I'm sorry! I was just out practicing is all!" He padded up to her side and nuzzled her cheek and purred softly then took steps back to be closer to Salem again. He didn't want her to feel out of place or frightened.

"Mom, its ok, this is Salem," he said lifting a paw as if to introduce her properly. "She's my new friend, we started talking about hunting, and how you were teaching me, and how I couldn't do it on my own and well... she doesn't know how to either. I thought it might be a good idea for her to meet you, she's new around here mom..."
