well well well. I just finished watching, supposedly, Australia's scariest movie ever made, which is based on actual events. Yup, I finally saw, WOLF CREEK (has to be in caps to emphasise something or rather)

Anyway I gotta say I was rather bored. I know it's a true story and what not (Supposedly a lot more real than say the Texas Chainsaw Massacre "True Story") it's the story of the only survivor of the elusive Mick Taylor, who is apparantley still at large (remind me never to travel to Wolf Creek), so I can see how the story being told is from the only survivor, and what with his friends he was travelling with, getting murdered, while he was elsewhere, he didn't really know what happened, and thus the writer/director had to take some artistic liscence and make up some stuff. But there were so many traditional horror things that the victim always does like the "Wait here while I go back to the scene of the crime to get something so we can escape, and while I'm there I'll linger around and see what I can find so the psycho can catch up with me and kill me" I mean if this was really what happened, I would think the girl would get the thing and get out out ASAP, especially if she knew said Psycho was on his way back.

Or there was the classic, just when you think you're safe the psycho is right behind you waiting in the shadows, rutine.

I dunno, everyone who saw it was telling me how they couldn't sleep for weeks after seeing it. And apart from a few gory bits (ie a few fingers getting sliced off, followed by a severing of a spinal cord (which you don't actually see, but it's implied)) I really didn't find it that bad. Maybe It's because I grew up on Freddy Kruger, or maybe I'm just insane (maybe a bit of both)

Not the worst horror/ thriller movie I've seen, but no where near the best (actually surprised at the amount of praise it has got really)

*EDIT* 8th May:

OK so after some researching, I've decided to re-review this thing. Aparantley the story is only loosley based on a few of the recent back packer killings that happened. The survivor is completely made up as is the character of Mick Taylor. At first I could have forgiven some of the stupidities of the plot, seeing as I had believed the story to be actually what happened. However after learning that it is a fictional story, I have no choice but to say, the entire plot was dumb, and included a lot of unnesecary things. I would probablly go on more about it, but I don't really want to waste any more time on it.

Well after watching Wolf Creek and finding how bad it was, I have decided to write a review of a movie I saw a few days beforehand.

Last we saw this gang of crazies, we had seen them treating a group of teenagers to some of their local customs ie turning them into crazy sculptures that are half fish, half human, chasing them around a field at night and lowering them into catacombs, leading them into the lair of their evil master.

Yup I'm talking about those crazy guys from The Devil's Rejects.
A small recap: During the first movie We, (Well at least me) was rooting for these guys to run down and kill the four unwitting victims (Hey, I hated those four guys from the start, they just plain annoyed me, as soon as the car stalled and Tiny, Otis and Rufus appeared out of the darkness, I was cheering all the way!)

However The Devil's Rejects on the other hand, had me wanting these sick degenerate psychopaths, dead, and that's not nescesarily a bad thing. After seeing the way they treated their vicitims in the first movie. There was almost a sense of justice during the final scenes, where they get their dues. I think Rob did an amazing job of these two movies. The first being fast paced and almost surrealistic in editing, while The Devil's Rejects took on a much slower, relaxed feel (although there was still some very faced paced action stuffs in there)

I'd have to say though, if there was one thing I was disapointed in, it was the lack of Dr. Satan, and the whole devil worshipping nature. After watching the first movie, and coming face to face with the good doctor and The Professor at the end of the movie, and afterwards reading about Dr. Satan and The Professor's back story, as well as other stories featuring Otis, Baby, and the rest of the Firefly family, through Rob Zombie's now dead comic book Spookshow International, I was really dissapointed in not having that side of the story explored. I guess Mr. Zombie wanted to keep the movie fairly realistic, but I was kinda hoping some sort of demon summoning would happen towards the end.

Overall the movie was pretty damn cool. I loved the way it was cut, to make it feel like a 70's Exploitation film, it was kinda like watching a Satan worshipping Shaft on crack. Thouroughly enjoyable.

Well It's been a while since my last review, and I doubt that anyone will even read this anyway, but I've decided to review another movie. This time something I went to see (A couple of weeks ago now) at the movies.

Clerks II, where to start? How about with Jay and Silent Bob. Kevin Smith's Jersey Saga was said to have been finished with, with Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, however I for one sure am glad he decided to forget that and make this little jem of a movie. After watching J.a.S.B.S.B, and hearing that Smith was tired of making Jay and Bob movies, i was rather upset that it was on that note that they had left the movie universe. What previously where a series of 4 great movies (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, and Dogma) was ended on a rather poor ending with Strikes Back, not to mention the fact that half the movie was pulled from the comic series which linked Chasing Amy and Dogma together, and thus either means Jay and Bob wind up with an Orangutan named Suzanne twice, or Smith decided that everything he wrote for that comic series was just a load of crap.

So it's Five years after Strikes Back, and along comes Clerks II. Taking it back to my favourite characters from any of Smith's movies, Dante and Randal. If Smith was to now decide that he no longer wanted to do Jay and Bob movies I would be satisfied.

There's a certain sense of closure at the end of viewing Clerks II, that these characters that we've grown to love, over the last 6 movies (ok Dante and Randal were technically only in 3 of the movies, and the ill fated Cartoon series, as well as the Clerks comic books as well, but I still grew quite fond of them. Of all Smiths Characters Dante and Randal did have the most exposure, and the dialogue between them is really amazing) have finally matured. It seems that the message Smith was trying to get across in Strikes Back has finally come through a movie later.

Anyway, Clerks 2 overall was a great movie from start to finish. Randal's oblivousness to the truth of things and the ever suffering Dante are just as funny as they were twelve years ago. And Jay and Silent Bob, are, well Jay and Silent Bob
