Long ago when water was the only place life could flourish, a species now known as Sea Moonkis developed. They stayed hidden from human eyes, their lives forever controlled by the changes of the moon. Two different subsets of the Sea Moonki species have formed over time: those with eyes (Oculus Moonkis), and those with mouths (Oris Moonkis). A wide variety of different forms and body types of both male and female Oris and Oculus Moonkis can be observed.
Amazingly enough, the two different breeds of Sea Moonkis can interbreed. A cross breeding does not result with offspring having both eyes and mouths but instead has random outcomes on traits. Although the Oris Moonkis do not have eyes, they are still able to "see" as they have very sensitive muzzles and taste buds. With these senses they can see the world around them. They do not mind staying in near to complete darkness because of this trait, and in fact prefer it.
The Oculus Moonkis have extremely good eyesight and usually depend on that sense for everything. Although they are not born with mouths, they can still communicate with sounds and also use thought as a means of speaking to other Moonkis. They do not like low light or complete darkness. To eat, Oculus Moonkis absorb food, mainly fruits, through the skin on their muzzles. It is rather messy but it works for them.
Diets for Oculus Moonkis is mainly fruits with other veggies include. Oris Moonkis prefer to eat meat but every now and then enjoy a fruit.
Like most things in their lives the moon effects Moonki personalities. Oris Moonkis may look aggressive, but they are normally peaceful creatures. They are mainly affected by the changes of the bright side of the moon. It is the Oculus Moonkis that have the dark side; they are mainly controlled by the dark phases of the moon.
