Vampyres
Generally similar to those you may have read about, but any Vampyre older than six hundred years old has no need to worry about sunlight. The whole cross and holy water thing is a myth, purposefully spread by Vampyres to make escaping from a situation easier. Gold bullets will only piss them off, but silver is a poison if it gets in their blood, just like a Lycan. And honestly, a wooden stake to the heart will kill just about anything, including a Vampyre. Unless their base race was something other than human, then it's a safer bet to simply cut off their head or use a silver stake.

When their names are written, they put their Line name first. Any time you meet a Vampyre with only one name, it's either a wanderer or a rogue of some kind, possibly one who's line has been mostly irradicated.

After the initial Change, most Vampyres' eyes turn black and their skin gets very pale. Depending on age, a Vampyre may have a single, double, or even triple set of fangs. Double sets develop at three thousand, and triple sets don't develop until ten thousand or more. All fangs are entirely retractable, making Vampyres of a certain age and above impossible to tell from a normal person. Except the lack of a pulse, but most Vampyres can consciously make their hearts beat and the rest of their bodily functions work. Most can also train a small part of their mind to keep it going constantly, making the absolutely impossible to tell apart from their base species. Many learn charms or shifting tricks to change their eye color later on, but up until two hundred years this is unchangeable.

All Vampyres get a certain level of telepathic ability when they are Changed. With age comes strength, but some are Born abnormally strong. Their abilities often include teledinesis, telepathy, and in some cases the ability to completely control another person.

((Alright people, seeing as my creative mind is being its better pain in the a** self, I'll get basics posted here so you can get characters created and possibly some general ideas of how these creatures act. I'll get the good stuff posted eventually.))

Lycanthropes
Lycanthropes are almost identical to those you may think of today, with a few differences. Any Lycanthrope over fifty years has full sentience in both hybrid and full animal forms, while any younger than fifty rarely have full sentience in hybrid and no sentience in full animal. It only takes ten years Changed, though, to be able to willingly shift to either form. At all ages, the lunar cycle of the Lycanthrope's home planet affects them severely. Wolves lose most control on the full moon, Avians on the new moon, Felines on the waning half, and Equines on the waxing half. Other types tend to be specific for each family line. The vast majority of Lycanthropes will go completely ballistic if they feel one of their group is threatened.

When written, Lycanthropes have three names. First is their rank within the group, then the group name, and finally their own name. Any Lycanthrope with only one name is Clanless, an outcast, and often must become a mercenary or assassin. Two name Lycanthropes are often low enough in a group they have no rank name, or the group is simply too large to have a rank name for everyone.

The larger Lycanthrope groups (Wolves, most Felines, Bears, most Equines, and many Hunter Avians) are heavily bound by honor. Their word is their bond, and a Lycanthrope that breaks their word often suffers quick punishment at the hands of the group, up to and including stripping of the group name and banishment from group holdings. Even if the group does not enact punishment (usually for not very severe breakings of word), most of these Lycanthropes will take a form of self punishment, often times with some sort of visible mark or disfigurement. There are occasionally extenuating circumstances, of course.

>general term for all Lycanthrope groups is Clan

Wolves
Wolves are the most balanced of the Lycanthropes, and the most commonly found. They have the highest group instincts next to Equines, though many tend to suppress their other instincts in favor of a very cold, ruthless logic. This is found mostly in the High Packs, as lower packs of decent repute put a large amount of trust in their instincts. Among all but a few Packs of any rank, males are the absolute leaders of the Pack. Females tend to be treated more as property and, in the High Packs, are rarely allowed to learn more than basic self defense. Many of the lower Packs do allow their females to fight alongside the males, but they still aren't treated with any great amount of respect. The largest exception to this rule is Pack Lektiba, the only High Pack where the females are ranked higher than the males (think total role-reversal for the genders).

A wolf Lycanthrope's hybrid form depends greatly on their gender. Both females and males become wolf anthros, but females have a much lighter build than males (think of females as dancers or runners, and males as brawlers and bruisers). A female's hybrid form has a much more slender facial structure as well, sharper and a bit more of a tapered snout than the males have.

((I'll actually let other people decide on a lot of this. You want another Lycanthrope type not listed above? PM me some basics and I'll add it to this particular post. Though Bears must have the honor thing, and most rodents are sneaky. Also, Foxes will be noble to a point.))

Demons

Demons are what many believe them to be. They are spawned of hell, or at least the origins of the species on this plane are. Many have taken to a solely life plane existance, and many lines exist now only on this plane. All have the ability of mortals to choose good or evil, though even those that choose good are often a bit mischievious in their ways.

There are many kinds of demons, from the well known and common to the rare group to the new one that just hopped up from hell. The strongest species originated in the seventh ring of hell or lower, usually in eighth or ninth.

Imps and the like are the sort that managed to escape the first ring, and usually don't cause much cataclysmic trouble to the populace of the universe. Some became strong, though, and made lines for themselves on this plane by mating with humans. They are the most common half demons found, with small horns (either one on the forehead, or one on each temple) and wings (some of the ones with purer blood have wings large enough to fly, though most have very small wings). Some with purer blood also have the goat legs and cloven hooves, our classic "satyrs" (yes, there are females).

The second and third rings house and occasionally spit out dark spirits, wraiths and similar beings. Still not very strong, but strong enough to take over a human and take a lover. These are the other group of half bloods often seen, looking much like Vampyres with pale skin and dark eyes, but they also have markings on their back and tribal looking, tattoo-like birth marks at the edges of their eyes. Many of them have a taste for the flesh of their host parents' race(s), but again it is a choice. This ring also houses most of the souls necromancers tend to grab when animating flesh golemns, the souls of murderers and rapists. (Occasionally there are mistakes, though.(see Deashot))

Fourth through sixth rings house the souls of the darkest damned, and the wraiths and demons employed to torture them. Very few demons ever leave these rings, as they are mostly one track minds bent on torture. There are escapes sometimes, though, and necromancers will sometimes summone a few to torture their enemies. The more sentient ones are truly dangerous, as they do usually escape the sixth ring and make their way to the surface. They can look like any race, but they usually have clawed hands and feet with small or long horns (like upper rings, one to three), a tail of some sort (usually reptillian or devil), and small or large wings. Large wings are more common, though some can shift them down in size a bit.

The seventh and eighth rings house the more sadistic demon types, and all are highly sentient. Many would be classified as a level twelve intellect or higher, and quite a few have strong psychic capabilities. Some are a bit more benign though, escaping the eighth ring to live out their eternity on the surface helping people as best they can. The eighth ring especially contains some of the most dangerous of the demons, incubi and succubi. They escape a lot, or project their astral selves into the dreams of mortals. Some truly breed with the mortals by possessing their lover, creating half breeds that share their features (perfect bodies, enhanced strength, highly enhanced senses, shiftable devil tail, horns, and large or small wings, dangerous claws, fangs (sometimes poisonous), and shiftable pupilless eyes).

Ninth being lowest, there are only a few that managed to escape that ring and now their lines are some of the best known, though not the most plentiful. I speak of hellcats and hellhounds, dangerous to tangle with and even more dangerous to ignore. They can take a completely human form (think pure demons from Inuyasha) or a hybrid, usually looking like a catgirl/boy or doggirl/boy (hellhounds have devil tails). They can take on fully animal forms as well, cats usually having three heads and standing about the size of your average tank, and dogs with three heads and about the size of your every day monster truck. The easiest way to spot a hellcat or hellhound in human form is if you can see their shoulders, their other two heads become tattoos on the tops of their shoulders. Usually a symbol, or a caricature of a cat or dog, these tattoos can be hidden by illusions. Many males don't though, they're very arrogant and usually want to show off what they are.
