How about an IRC chat? Granted we've got these handy-dandy forums and whatnot, btu I think it might be a nice thing for regular EDers to have an IRC chatroom to schmooze in.

Only thing I'd worry about it were if it created a clique-ish atmosphere.

My concern would be the number of people who would inevitably join the chat: it'd be almost impossible to regulate on account of its traffic, and holding any sort of discussion in it would be next to impossible for the same reasons.

Oh, and there's always the Towns. wink

That's what the purpose of the admin bots are in IRC.

I use IRC, i know for a fact it's easy to regulate, give ONLY members of this guild and certain EDers, the IRC chat server name and port number, and channel name, tell them it's privet and NOT to tell any one, have three or four IRC channel chat mods, who can keep an eye on things, people can be perma banned from IRC. also, do NOT post any info about the IRC cannel , unless you want spamers and idiots coming in.
Only the members and mods can prevent this info from ending up in the wrong hands.

I volunteer for channel mod.

Admin bots are not as effective as a human mod.
A human mod can watch the chat and catch violators the bots can't.
This is IRC, not any one can join a channel with out port number, server name and channel name.
