Carlos casually strolls into the arena. Kicking up dirt with each step. As he made it partially made it into the eliptical arena, he pulled out one of his guns and twirled it on one finger. A maddening grin across his face. A small snicker escaped him as his head twirled in a slow circular motion. Whoever his opponent was, was going to have to face him. Live or die, he failed at his goal.

Carlos caught the gun with barrel in his palm. He knelt down and picked up a small handful of dirt and slowly let it trickle from the bottom of his hand as he grinded it in his palm. He stood to his feet and looked at the doorway his opponent would come out of. Any time now, he thought with the evil smile still across his face.

"It's time." she whispered softly to herself and stood from her postion. Meditating before a fight, she had been told, helped one to think better. And she would certainly need her wits, if she was to win a tournament.

Having risen to her full five feet and nine inches, the humanoid cat-demon stepped into the ring and faced her opponent. He seemed much too excited for this fight. Taking a deep breath, she took another step foward. She bowed politely to him in greeting.

Her tail swaying lightly. It was her ears that gave her away, they twitched madly, waiting for a single movement to indicate an attack. Her eyes landed on his weapons. Guns. She would have to play it safe. Getting inside his range might work; however, use of her weapons was not a strong point of hers. As a last resort. Her mind flicked over strategy after strategy as she watched the man, waiting silently for him to make the first move.

Gathering her thoughts, she fell into a defensive position. Her arms loose ready to move quickly infront of her or grab one of her weapons. Her feet were held solidly at shoulder width and her knees were bent to allow for a quick jump or drop, if she must.

Carlos' menacing grin fell as he looked at...it. 'It' wasn't human. Carlos' face now turned to disgust as he released the sand from his hand and unholstered his other gun. He twirled the gun that was already in his hand so he caught it correctly and lifted his arm to aim at the 'creature'. BANG. There was no hesitation, he already fired the first shot at his adversary. He blinked.

Though it was a mere blink, Carlos had focused to build up his speed for this battle. He wanted to get rid of this non-human quickly. So to Carlos, his eyes opened to see the bullet moving forward directly in front of him in the creatures direction.

The attack was quick and to the point and it gave her just enough time to block. Swiftly, she lifted her hands and crossed them in front of her.

"Schval." she whispered and with a flash of purple light, the bullet never touched her, but loged itself in an invisible sheild, seeming to disappear. It would take a bite out of the safety of her sheilds, but it kept her in a moment longer. She quickly moved to the side, in case he shot again and ran at him, drawing her blades as she moved. Her intention was to get in close and slice his chest with both. She aimed to disarm him and quickly.

The fact that his bullet stopped in mid-air did little to phase Carlos at this point. In the recent wars where he served as a mercenary magi were often used with strong magics. This only angered him more. As the beast ran up to him, Carlos dove to the side. Unfortunately one of the blades caught his side. At first it was just his shirt that opened, then a small line across his flesh turned red. Because of his injury he had to unfocus his speed. Damnit, he cursed himself as he held both guns in front of him and fired them both continuously at the creature that had cut him.

((DX I was almost done and my computer spazzed and I lost it! crying It was a post I was proud of too!))

Hope shot through her when she noted his injury. Spinning quickly, she saw that it was only a shallow cut to the side. It would take more than that to get her the win, though. Almost immediately, the man fired a barrage of bullets at her.

She lifted her arms in an instant. "Schval." she whispered, calling up her shield again, but it was too late. Two bullets had made it past already. One buried itself in her left shoulder, the other grazed the same arm. She grunted in pain and took off at a run to avoid further injury.

Painfully, she sheathed her blades. As a pair they would be useless and her staff would be more effective at this point. She drew it from the sheathe at her back and held it in her right hand, for the moment her left arm hung limp. She could barely lift it for her sheild.

'This is going to be a pain.' the thought slipped throug her mind as she continued to run and twisted the staff at its seem to release the blades. One lay flat against her right arm and the other ran parrallel to the ground. She skidded to a halt, running at him in zig-zags. Going for another direct attack. This time with one weapon in one hand. She ran more to the side and spun the staff, intent on ending the fight quickly as possible. With her left arm practically useless, her speed taken down by the blood loss, it was her best plan.

'If only I could disarm him somehow.' That thought too slippd from her mind, as she attacked

Carlos continued to fire as his opponent ran at him again moving both guns in trail as she moved in a zig-zag. Click, click, click. The pistols stopped their barrage of bullets as the gun went empty. Carlos growled at himself as he saw her spin towards him with her bladed staff. She's coming in close, he thought to himself as he dropped his guns and ducked under the attack. He pushed forward against her and placed a hand on the hilt of one of her sheathed blades.

In that same instant, Carlos' other hand grabbed the opposite waist. In attempt to use her momentum he pushed her in the same direction while spinning away from her himself trying to pull the blade from out of its sheath.

'Out of bullets good.' she thought, bringing her weapon close. She swung and missed. Quickly, she prepared for a blow when he dropped his weapons and reached toward her, but he grabbed her weapon. Eyes widening with realization, she jumped back, letting him take one of the pair. She narrowed her eyes, standing a safe distance away.

"Hmph... I suppose I must." Never allowing her eyes to leave her opponent and tuning her ears to his movement, she lifted her right arm, holding the staff straight out in front of her. She held it so that the full length was in veiw of her and her opponent.

"Schval mana arda-oom." she spoke quickly and released the staff, for a moment it fell, then in a flash of purplish light, it floated. Or that is what it appeared to do. Upon further inspection one would notice a thin fog surrounding it. Her hand snapped up, palm out toward her opponent. As if responding to an unspoken command, the staff flew at him, swinging and spinning wildly.

'I will end this quickly. I cannot lose the 'Vymsa Blades' to anyone.' This fight was no longer about winning to her; those blades were a reminder of why she was even here. She refused to let anyone touch them and now her opponent opted to take and possibly use one against her. She would not allow it.

Carlos held the blade loosely in his hand, close combat was something he's only done with a knife or small blade. This sword in his hand was heavier and a stranger in his presence. With as much confidence as he could muster he stood where he was while his opponent leaped back and stared wide eyed at him. He waited for her to come forward again and was surprised when she muttered something quickly and dropped her weapon.

What the... he thought and mouthed as the bladed staff started to float in the middle of the air. "Magic," he said softly through his teeth as he moved his other hand to the hilt of his new weapon and held the sword in front of him. Then with no warning other than a small hand movement the staff came at him twirling quickly. As the blades came close Carlos quickly lifted the sword to block the first few strikes, but the staff moved faster and harder than he was prepared to defend.

Carlos dropped his blade as the staff made another twist knocking it from his grasp. The next round was blocked by Carlos' left forearm cutting to the bone. Grimacing in pain Carlos continued to walk back as the blade continued to cut through his arm.

"There!" she shouted, forgetting herself. She closed her hand into a fist ceasing the assault of the staff. It clattered harmlessly to the ground and she ran toward her opponent or rather her precious weapon. She knelt down and lifted it. Glancing it over, she sighed in relief, it was unharmed. Quickly she returned it to her sheath.

She moved to approach her staff, but found she was having difficulties getting up. So much magic use, had nearly drained her. She stayed there on a knee, breathing deeply fighting to get up. Her opponent was badly injured, but she doubted that would stop him, though. She had to move... but... she wasn't sure she had the strength left.

Carlos stepped back as the blade took out chunks of his flesh until his bone was clearly seen through the mess of tattered skin and flowing blood. The shout brought relief when the blade clattered on the ground. His arm lowered as the blade did and the blood continued to drip leaving a puddle at his feet. Sagging forward from blood loss, Carlos stepped forward with his right foot stepping on the staff. His naturally tan complexion now became a ghostly white as he became weaker from the amounts of blood that flowed out of his arm. He stared at the creature who seemed to be taunting him, kneeling in fron of him and just looking at him, mocking him. The built up anger produced enough adrenaline for him to reach around his back and wield his sub machine gun which he 'pointed' in her general direction. As he pulled the trigger, Carlos fell to the ground from the recoil of the gun. The bullets flew everywhere.

Carlos lay flat on his back taking short, quick breaths. In between the quick gasps of breath he would couch up blood which splattered on his face. The gun came to a halt as he tried to roll himself over. One of the staff's blades in his back. As Carlos got onto his side he looked at the female creature, coughing blood over the ground while doing so. His eyes still held the hatred he had towards her...before they closed their last time.
