Katurian and Michal were hiding in the bushes. Truthfully, they didn't have much of a choice, seeing as they were being held by Russell and Jamey respectively, but they still found the surprise game of Hide and Seek to be a lot of fun. Well, Michal found it fun. Katurian was nothing if not indifferent.
"Please?" Russell asked his daughter. He had been reduced to begging a 5-year-old and it really wasn't his finest hour.
Jamey sighed.
"Okay, forget 'please.' You can't play unless you change."
Either he sounded authoritative and fatherly, or Jamey was just tired of arguing, because when Russell looked down at her, the Ditty was a quite pretty young lady instead of a diaper-clad freak.
"Cool. Thanks," Russell said.
Jamey nodded and set Michal carefully on the ground where she promptly ran out of her hiding place and began yipping wildly.
"We'll be over there," Russell said. He trailed after Michal, settling on a bench a few feet from where the hyena was wobbling in circles. He settled a quiet Katurian on his lap and watched his daughter head over to the jungle gym, fake blonde ringlets bouncing around her shoulders.

" Ahhwhoo amahee" Mira burbled softly as her stroller was pushed down the path. She'd much rather be asleep than awake but she must be awake now becuase they wouldn't let her sleep while they took her out of the house.
Umbra pushed the stroller and sighed, it was going to be one of those long days she could just feel it. When this was all over she was locking herself in her room with season two of House MD and not coming out till morning. For now though she letting Mira get some fresh air.
Spotting another parent and child she headed towards them, atleast she'd have someone to talk to. She was somewhat concerned by the Hyena but gigured it was probably tame.

Russell looked up and smiled at the woman as she approached. "Nice day," he said amicably. Nice wasn't really the word for it. It was positively heavenly compared to the last couple of weeks.
Katurian looked over with wide eyes at the talkative girl in the stroller. Her hair was all blue and shiny and he kind of wanted to touch it, but he really shouldn't. Besides, he wasn't close enough to do anything like that.
Michal bounded over to Russell's feet and placed her tiny paws on his shoe. "Eeeee-koooo!" she babbled into her Legacy's head.
Katurian's broom-covered shoulders twitched irritably and his face screwed up in what was surely the precursor to bawling, but after a few seconds he appeared to get a hold of himself. He leaned over in Russell's grip, opening and closing a fist toward the girl in the stroller.

Umbra nodded " I'm hoping the weather holds out and we don't get any major snowstorms or falls untill about christmas." Snow was wonderful but it made taking children outside hard and babies near impossible. The last thing she needed was a house full of kids with cabin fever.
Sitting down on the bench she pulled Mira from the stroller and sat her on her lap. The baby normally quiet and complacent was wriggly today and seemed rather interested in her new aquaintance.
Mira babbled something unintelligable at the strange boy and his creature then slowly copied his hand motions.

"Yeah, that'd be nice," he agreed. Of course, having an excuse to be cooped up in the house meant more time for freelance work, which he desperately needed right now. If it was cold or snowy he could at least convince Jamey to play indoors. "Cute baby," he added.
Katurian remained silent but leaned over further. Russell obliged him by turning toward Mira and her guardian a bit. The baby, finally within touching distance of this new small person, was suddenly shy. A muffled whine escaped from his throat and he sat back, blue eyes wide. He had wanted closer, but this was too close.
At Russell's feet, Michal whined too. She was missing all the fun.

Umbra smiled " This would be Mira and thank you though I can't exactly take credit for her looks." It saddened her greatly to know that of all the children she and neph shared none would or could ever be made from them. For a moment her amber eyes darkened and seemed empty.
Mira confused at the boys actions went silent and peered at him but made no attempt at contact. A sound from below made her look dow and suddenly she was active again reaching with arms and feet to touch the strange thing.

"Oh yeah, Katurian's not mine mine either," Russell said. Even as nonperceptive as he was, he felt he had touched on something sad and unspoken. He attempted to break any uncomfortable silences by reaching around the huddling baby on his lap and scooping up the wriggly, whuffing ball of hyena at his feet.
"This is Michal," he explained to Mira, plopping the Key down on his free leg. Michal wobbled, her little legs unsure of how to transition from the ground to this squishy terrain, but eventually she looked up and acknowledged the baby with an inquisitive mutter and a tilt of her head.
Katurian sat back and began chewing on his knuckles, watching his bond happily two-time him with another child.

Mira wasn't quite sure what to make of Michal they had something like that at home but it was much bigger and black and green. " Eeeeehahha" She called out in greeting. The words were nonsense but the sounded right anyways.
Umbra smiled a bit " I swear half of Gaia has children that don't blood belong to them. it's like one big adoption centre." it was a somewhat cheering though that she wasn't alone in this.

"Eeeeuff!" Michal said aloud, babbling simultaneous baby talk mind-to-mind at Kat. She extended her front paws, trying to reach Mira across the great divide between the adults, but only succeeded in faceplanting to the bench below. Russell picked the hyena up and held her out to the blue-haired child, where she began sniffing and wiggling excitedly.
"I had no idea," Russell admitted. "I got these two really recently, and let me tell you, I have no life now." He was silent for a moment, and then as if he had only just realized what he had said, he grinned. "Sorry. That sounded incredibly shallow."
