These sites are the best place for a visual explanation and instruction on what to do to give your bass a comfortable, playable setup. The Gary Willis Setup Site Mr. Gearhead LOOK HERE FIRST BEFORE POSTING A QUESTION IN THE FORUM ABOUT THIS SUBJECT!! (Just figured, i'd get this out of the way since I have yet to see anything about this subject posted thus far.)

The Mr. Gearhead site is no longer working, do you have any others that could help a newbie like my self? (I'm so lost and confused!)

I'm not sure why the link isn't working for you, but you can try this link (should take you to the Mr. Gearhead site, if not, just copy and paste it into your address bar.)
http://www.fender.com/support/setup/basssetup.php
As far as other links, I haven't found any half as good as the Gary Willis site.

LOL! I was adjusting my 4 string today, trying to get the strings on it closer to the fretboard. I was successful for the first 3 strings (e a d) and when I got to the G string I accidentally tightened the string for a bit and snapped something in my tuners gears. I looked it over a lot, but it wont hold a set position. Gotta buy a new one ^.^
Not too expensive razz BUT my other strings sound amazing with them closer to the neck. just enough to get the right tone, and not mute on the frets. Beautieful!
