copy paste from my last post in "say what" topic.
I'm going to be leaving town from the 20th to the 30th this month. We're going up north to see my family. Just a heads up that I wont be on as much since we've started the preparing process. Y'know, making lists, buying shoes for me that don't have mesh sides (mesh shoes + snow = BRRRRR!!!) buying little boots and a snowsuit for babygirl, and a jacket for hubby. I'll post while I can before I leave though. I'll try and get on before we leave (probably post late night on the 19th) and say hi and check up on posts. And just in case I don't make it back on before then, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays for all those who don't celebrate Christmas. biggrin *hugs all* Ciao!

Edited title rather than making a new topic. whee Things are starting to settle down again. *dances* Yay!
I actually had an herbal question. I'm trying to lose some weight, the last time I actually worked at it I also drank alot of green tea. I was wondering if the green tea actually helped, or if it's just there to taste good?
It's good to be back. *hugs to all*

Hi silver, how are you doing? Why Silver! I'm wonderful. How are you? I'm great thank you! Yes, I admit I'm crazy. I did some research, didn't come up with anything about weight loss and green tea, but did find something else that will be helpful and thought I'd share.
Apple Cider Vinegar. This is going to take a while but I'm going to copy what I have here in my food cures book.Miracle Food Cures From The Bible by Reese Dubin Apple cider vinegar contains powerful enzymes that help disolve clumps of fat, and wash them right out of your system -- so powerful in fact, that meat soaked in apple cider vinegar is tenderized. When you drink it, even in such small quantities as 2 tablespoons in fruit or vegetable juice, moments later it is breaking up accumulated fat in cell tissues, says one expert. I well rememder when Folk Medicine by Dr. Jarvis became a big best seller around 1958-60, and his apple cider vinegar remedies were very popular. At that time, a group of wemon that included my mother use to eat lunch and have lively discussions. On frequent topic was diets. Dr. Jarvis claimed it was easy to slim down with apple cider vinegar. All you had to do, he said. was sip a couple of teaspoons of it in a glass of water at each meal. No special diet. Just sensible eating. He claimed that a woman could go down three dress sizes in about 5 months this way -- That a woman who wore a size 50 dress would be able to take a sizr 42 in a year (that's over 100 pounds) effortlessly! My mother, who had never been able to make her weight budge, lost 12 pounds in 3 months, on this "diet", going from 139 to 127. Two other members in her group lost 10 pounds and 16 pounds, respectively, in 3-4 months. The winner, however was a woman who went down two dress sizes in a year -- a loss of about 30 pounds. I tried some vinegar in apple juice with dinner. Mistook a tablespoon for a teaspoon, so it was quite bitter. I think it'd be easier to just put the amount you wanted to take in a shot glass, down that, then chase it with juice. xd I'll keep you all updated on how that works out. *goes off to shop for bathroom scales*

Kyoki Marie Ewww! I hate vinegar. XD Hm. Welcome back, by the way! Green tea is supposed to help lose weight, and it tastes delicious to boot. So... I don't know. XD I don't have my books here! It's not the best tasting thing in the world is it? I think pickle juice tastes better. xd rofl It's good to be back. And green tea is very vummy. I use to be able to drink it without sugar or honey, but now I need a little sweetener. That was my problem too. The one book I have doesn't list green tea. I need to enhance my herbal library. Oh update on the vinegar thing. Doing shoots are just as bad if not worse than mixed with juice. Maybe if I use grapefruit juice? that's bitter enough. Anyway I drank the vinegar from one of my husbands sake cups (we don't have any shot glasses) and nearly gagged myself trying to swallow. sweatdrop But I'm determined to do this for a few months. Maybe it'd be better if I do two teaspoons three times a day instead of two tablespoons once a day? I need to go get on the scale at the office. maybe once hubby is home I'll run up. Sorry if I'm rambling sweatdrop

I found the more I take it the less *insert sour face and funny "ick" dance here* I get. Hubby has even joined in on the daily vinegar. xd What kind of things do you think would be a good add in? I've thought of adding honey to it to help with the "Ewww" factor.

green tea is more used to detoxing rather than a weight loss help isn't it?
i mean if you're on a health kick it's obviously a lot better to drink green tea than coffee. 4 cups a day is meant to be a really good amateur detox*shrugs* not sure icould drink that much myself, it's not my favourite beverage. tastes better now that i brew it differently though, i discovered i had the water too hot and that makes it taste bitter, now i just simmer the water and it's more palatable 3nodding

Also found if I let it simmer too long it gets very bitter.

I'm that way with Chai tea. the first time I had it, it tasted very overbrewed and bitter. Maybe I should try it again.

Ooh, sounds like vinegar might be a handy thing. Maybe mixing in ... well, what sort of boosts do you need? You can make "tinctures" with vinegar just like vodka, of any herb you want.
