Well first off I'll assume we've all seen Underworld, the vampire movie. My favorite part of it, was that it introduced Lacuna Coil to America, and since that movie got popular, so has Lacuna Coil. It even led them to come to America for concerts(Such as Ozzfest in St. Louis).
Now, the makers of Underworld are coming out with a new movie, Blood & Chocolate, it's based on a fairly good book about werewolves. And guess who sings the title song of the movie?
That's right, Stand My Ground, by our very own Within Temptation is the title song for the movie(They blare it during the best part of the preview :3 )
I hope it makes WT as successful as it did LC, then we may get some concerts here in America. 3nodding
Seriously, I went spastic when I heard the song on the movie preview.(I had gone to see The Rise of Taj, and the whole WT thing almost made me block out the movie I was watching XD)

Hell no! gonk Becoming "mainstream" is the worst thing that can happen to a band. The next thing will be a series of "The Best Of" albums, tweaking on the way they sound to match the low standards of mediocre (yet popular) music stations. Look what happened to Nightwish. All you need to do is compare the new remake of Sleeping Sun with the original version. Forgive my pessimism, but I had to scratch a couple of bands from my favorites list because fame corrupted them. stressed

Thank you for the info - I didn't know that their song will be used in the movie. By the way this trailer looks interesting - I hope that movie will be as good as it. wink

I wouldn't say that the success of Lacuna Coil was due directly to having a song in the movie. They had been gaining popularity long before that. (Sorry major LC fan) I think that WT will only become very popular in the US if their music allows it. I don't know if Mother Earth is going to have the same drawing power as Comalies did.
Although, I have not had a real problem with the evolution of LC's music due to mainstream, nu metal, with elements of nu metal being contributed. I do think that a nu metal influence might hurt the sound of WT alot. I don't think I would like them getting alot of mainstream recognition and I certainly think that Ozfest is no place for them.

The only reason most people don't listen to WT is because they're foreign. I don't know about other places, but for a 2oo mile radius there isn't a single store around here that even sells a WT cd.
It was the same with LC before Underworld came out. The thing is, the general population of America won't listen to anything unless they've heard it in a movie or on a tv show. Sad, but true.
WT being in a movie will mean their music is promoted, even if it attracts the wrong kind of attention.
The only problem I see with mainstream is like what happened with Green Day. They had alot of really good songs, then when they make a slightly more serious album(which, to reflect the more serious tone of it, they wore plainer things, black suits, etc. It's the same thing other bands have done when making a more political based album)everybody forgets everything else they've done and obsesses over the one album. (American Idiot) And first off, No, the title song does NOT mean that all americans are stupid. Dumb little 15 year olds who think they have a wide-based view of the world and politics use this album as a way to "express their feelings" while at the same time killing the meaning of the songs. I hate to say it, but Hot Topic is where you'll see these kinds of people, and again, I hate to say it, but they're emo. =/ American Idiot is the only album of theirs to go mainstream, and it destroyed the fanbase of the band. (8% of the people who like Greenday won't even know that they've been around for quite some time, they just don't bother to look into their old material. And of course, people who say they hate Greenday because they're "Emo punks" can kiss my a**. Don't base your opinion on one god damn album.
...wait... How the hell did I start talking about this gonk

OMG! I love that book! And to think that WT will do a song for it! OMg, my day just keeps getting better.
Wow, if this movie is based off the book i'm thinking of....then it is nothing like it. O_o There are some similarites, but in the book, they are in high school and all that. Don't know if I want to go see it or not.

Blegh, rap. Well, some rap is good actualy xd . But I don't like the mainstream 'Yo b***h' Rap. I like French and German rap ^_^. And some Underground Dutch stuff.
It's just like Techno and such, mainstream over here, not popular in the USA. The USA and Europe just are 2 totaly different worlds me thinks xd .
Not to mention most people in the USA just seem to hate European music, movies and such xd .
And I'm just a music lover, I like everything ^_^.

Great news! But will it really make WT popular? I remember Evanescence doing the soundtrack for Elektra. Who remembers that? Okay, I have to admit, the movie was a flop. Hopefully this one will do better.

OMG! That's really weird! And creepy to think WT might make it big through a movie! I don't want them to be too popular, I don't want everyone to be like "yep, of course I like Within Temptation, duhh", because I kind of feel WT are a band that I uniquely like within my friends, or even school.
