Right, this post has no point except to detail ideas that strike me randomly. I'm gonna use it to write down any ideas that may or may not come in handy at a later date when I do start to write, because i definately plan on putting major effort into at least one good novel during my lifetime. Hey, lots of historians do it, I figure why not!

Feel free to use this post to detail your own ideas and thoughts so that you may draw upon them when you wish!

My ideas are going to start very base, very unorigional and be flushed out from there, I suggest you do the same if you are so inclined. Specifically just keep your post bookmarked and add a snippet whenever you're in the mood!

Commence randomness:

Race ideas, descriptions, names, whatever I feel like! Some are just describing classic definitions, others are my twist but they're here as reference to me.

Pixies:
-Innate magical users.
-Insect like clear or tinted clear wings.
-Resistant to most forms of magic
-unable to do anything with magic else than self preservation uses
-no clothing and no culture, live in the wild.
-crude weaponry, no military culture, only spears and some bows.

Fairies:
-innate magical users.
-Butterfly or moth wings, varying shape and patterns.
-no innate resistant to magical effects
-deft weavers of nature and illusionary magic.
-well defined culture and heirarchy.
-magicly imbued clothing, always formal in appearance.
-little to no military culture, prefering spellweaving, few if any weapons.

Religion/culture ideas!
-Monotheistic zealotry
-Polytheistic shamanism
-Athiesm
-Elemental worship
-Monotheistic purity
-demi-god worship

-Capitalistic based society (future or past)
-Feudal society
-Totalitarian society
-Democratic Monarchy
-Religious rule
-Chaos

Setting ideas
-Ancient pre-horse
-Grecko-Roman
-Medieval
-Feudal/Eastern strife
-Future/sci fi
-Future/fantasy
-Modern/fantasy
-Modern/apocalypse/fantasy

Quick edit in of last night's musings so I do not forget them:
Mana tied to lifeforce. Controlling mana limits how strong it is. Pixies have almost no controll thus very strong use, humans have domination thus through time some have lost mana completely while others can do very much with very little and are called wizards and mages.

I say cool idea as well; maybe I shall make use of it, as I am sometimes a bored college student (though I went the Biology route ^_^). I will save this spot in the meantime!

AMAVEY

~Kingdoms~

Kalintroth is ruled by a human king named Maximus Aurdrin. Unfortunately, both of his sons were killed in the last years of Danasca Ancartus, a war of all the peoples of Amavey against the demon armies of Kalorne, a dark lord and ruler of demons, one of the five children of the demon king himself. Because of this, none of his blood will take his place on the throne when he dies. The war had lasted nearly one-hundred years, and every race suffered serious losses. The people of Kalintroth tend to have about the same features. Most are pale with blue or gray eyes and hair colors of very light blonde or snow-white. Kalintroth has three major cities: Balore, Kangriz, and the capital city Coltraire.

The rest of Kalintroth is made up of small fishing villages and animal farms. Most people of Kalintroth are simple, with slurred speech and deep voices. They are taller than the kingdoms below, and most of them are well-built, needed for the climate they live in as they are the people of the second kingdom farthest north. They are also some of the nicer people you can come into contact with.
~
Bollgradd is a kingdom of the dwarves, ruled by Omgus Grothem. Grothem has three sons...and while the oldest one is supposed to take the throne when Omgus dies, there is doubt that the younger brothers will allow that without a fight. Bollgradd lies in the farthest reaches of the north, deep in the Onglar Fromb Mountains.

Most of the dwarves of Bollgradd keep to themselves and stay inside the mountains. Their looks vary, though most of them have very blunt, rough features from living in the mountains. They are sturdy, and very law-abiding. Most of them prefer to stay away from visitors and those not of dwarven ancestry, and they are very harsh. Their wills are very strong. There are no major cities in Bollgradd, as the kingdom exists in the mountains. Instead, their capital city is one enormous city stretching far.
~
Aevendwar is a kingdom ruled by Lady Valandra Aelashe. This kingdom lies in the Faleadran Wood at the base of the Kaelthar Allis mountain range. Most elves of Aevendwar tend to have animal features, such as wolf ears or stag antlers, and at times, fur. They don't wear much in the ways of clothing either, as they are a very all-natural group of people. Their hair varies, though most tend to have darker shades and tanner hues of skin.

The elves of Aevendwar are very kind, loving, loyal, compassionate people. Their benevolence cannot compare to any other. Unlike most of their elven cousins, the elves of Aevendwar are not terribly proud or arrogant. Most of them have connections with spirits and nature, and some are also spirit bound with animals. Their society has very few laws, and they do not have cities. Most of them live in the tree tops in small villages, or underground.
~
Laurres is a human kingdom in the deep south, ruled by a treacherous king named Algus Ronyx. Being the only kingdom of the south, Laurres has much territory, and a powerful, ruthless army. Most of Laurres's people hate their king, but the army is too powerful for them to do any real damage when they revolt. The laws and traditions are very strict and serious, and breaking them is considered an unholy, treacherous act.

Women are viewed as inferiors in this kingdom, along with people of dark skin and people of the East. Dwarves are viewed as faithless mongrols with no alliance. The elves of Aevendwar are viewed as savages. Magic is considered a sign of demonic taint, and anyone possessing such abilities is killed. Most of the people in Laurres had tanned skin, as they are farmers, and they tend to have darker shades of hair and darker colors in their eyes. There are seven major cities in Laurres: Brahme, Thare, Olmbrist, Riggol, Juridis, Angar, and Rothwend. The capital city is Throse.
~
Ovholme is ruled by a dark skinned human named Malachi Gamroth. Gamroth has three very beautiful daughters. Because he is of dark skin, Lord Gamroth is viewed by the south as a threat, a savage, and an enemy, though he is a good, just king. There are four major cities in Ovholme: Jaara, Kanzak, Ochose, and Borolme. The capital city is Kaaste.

Ovholme is the most diverse of the kingdoms of Amavey, with humans of every background, history, religion, and tradition, and there are even elves and dwarves that live in Ovholme. Ovholme has a very good economy, and most of the people are very happy, though the army of Ovholme is a very poor one because of this.
~
Kine Ajas is ruled by a human named Kamaki Iethuzu. The people of Kine Ajas are strict, law-abiding, and very disciplined. Their army is fierce, and relentless. The people fear their lord Kamaki, but are too fearful to make any real attempt to revolt.

Men are regarded as the sin and women are regarded as the purity. They believe strongly in the spirits of nature and balance. The people of Kine Ajas do NOT like others not of their kind.
~
Damaron is ruled by Maelia and Amarice Carne, lovers. Maelia is an elf and Amarice is a human. Their love and rule together bring both the peoples of the elves and the peoples of the humans, and help them work together and live peacefully in a society. They are the perfect example of equality and hope, and a symbol of love's strength.

Damaron is a smaller kingdom, but she has four proud cities, including the capital: Daelvar, Unveldru, Anzarbon, and Nubaei. The people of Damaron have a strong sense of unity, love, loyalty, and friendship, and the army, while small, is one of great passion and determination.
~
Undwervu is the final kingdom, ruled by Lucius Merevel, and the farthest kingdom west, lying just beyond the Kaelthar Allis mountains. Undwervu has one of the biggest, strongest armies of all of Amavey. Undwervu has five major cities: Al'avel, Eweye, Neredar, Alaklis, and Verte Alorin. The capital city is Lais.

The people of Undwervu are proud elves filled with nobility and distinction. There is no poverty in Undwervu, and they are very proud to boast such a thing, along with having the "best" army in Amavey and the "grandest" cities. They are proud and snobby, but loyal and benevolent.

~Races~

The races are humans, elves, and dwarves. Unlike the stereotypical elves and dwarves, the elves and dwarves of Amavey do not live for thousands and thousands of years. They age just age the same way as humans, but tend to live longer lives and do not look their ages as quickly. The age averages are as follows:

Human: 80-90 years
Elf: 150-200 years
Dwarf: 130-220 years

Half-blooded Human (elf): 100-120 years
Half-blooded Human (dwarf): 100-140 years
Half-blooded Human (demon-rare): 300-400 years

Half-blooded Elf (dwarf): 160-210 years
Half-blooded Elf (demon-rare): 850-1250 years

Half-blooded Dwarf (demon-rare): 400-650 years

~Amavey: The World~

Amavey is a world of futuristic fantasy, with dragons, swords, knights, and armor, but with ships, guns, laser technology, and machines. The world is practically one massive central continent with small islands nearby and at the poles. There are a few main worldly beliefs: Atheism (the ironic belief in nothing), Olarthky (belief in many deities of good), Abganarith (the belief in one God of many names), Galaiya (belief in nature), and Katharcus (the belief of the dark deities).

new direction, new post

Name undecided:

A world of darkness. Shrouded in a magical haze this world exists in a state of perpetual dusk and night, Morning is marked by the moment that anything is visible, for night is black dark enough that no creature with natural vision can see in it. As such most inhabitants, beast or non, have developed alternative methods of sight beyond visual. From simple whiskers to heat sensitive patches of skin and sight by sound the creatures of this world have evolved to cope with perpetual darkness.

On this world where there is almost no light from above there are very few trees as such. Some plants have evolved massive leaves to catch any bit of light that seeps through the clouds and haze, but many species have saught other methods of sustinance. Massive groves of interconnected fungus take the place of our forests, with some growing to astonishing heights.

Other so called "plants" have evolved to abosorb sustinance directly from the mist and clouds filling the sky. Their massive filters and vents waving lazily or constantly sucking in the mist and spewing forth their waste products.

Some have even evolved to feed off the animal species, with some plants disguised as normal ground, yet containing wide digestion pits for hapless animals, and others containing hair like strands coated in tiny barbs filled with deadly poison hanging down from their branches, ready to snare and reel in any flying food.
