Today I revisted my ED home of Politics, only to find it being invaded. Gun NutsNo talk about the morality of weapons or espionage, but just a secret agent RP. What can we do to stop these creeps? I want my Politics back.

"scwad" bahahaha. Could be a troll, however. Any military junkie'd know how to spell squad.
Frankly I'm not overly familiar with the state of the subforums of the ED. Morality and Religion is obnoxious for me to debate, and I'm not very politics-savvy. I was on this little mission of my own several months ago to save The Psych & Soc forum, but I'm afraid it's beyond repair.

bah, i'm fine with this, there's so little traffic in ed-p that if they want to chat about guns and stuff, so what. besides, half the topics there lately have all been half-assed repeats of other topics so whatever.

I'm not sure what to do in the ED-P myself, since I'm not a regular there, and for the S&P subforum, I started calling it,"the Place the Mods Forsook" around middle to late June. I personally think the S&P subforum is totally screwed over, as it has been for awhile now, but I still don't want to give up hope on it.

Hm, the fact you actually posted in that thread worries me. Next time only report it. Don't post and bump that sort of thing to the top. If you want to inform them, send them a message.

If you want to inform them, send them a message. True (I actually did not read the thread until just now). Also, since there's no specific petition or something of that nature to deal with ED-P at the moment, Temba's suggestion is the right one, combined with Yoshimasa's thought. Report, and don't respond.

It's scary.
People like that are why we have guilds like this.
What we need is something that pops up, like ToS, only it's ToEDS. ED rules, and people must read/agree.

eh? there are like, thirty regular posters on ed, and no one would dare to troll us, because all we do in ed-p is get into petty squabbles and throw rhetoric about.
trollong is a non-issue, and most people don't care about these kind of threads.
as i said, traffic moves so slow in ed-p that it never becomes a problem

I'm a psych major so it's particularly disappointing to me-- psychology is not all about whether it's okay to masturbate and wat do u think of gayz. >_>
C'we have like a seperate subforum for "S&P Relief Efforts" or something? That forum is a problem all on its own. And there are plenty of psych buffs around who could help beef it up again.

Seriously...the 'is it okay to masturbate' threads are painful. They're already getting it on with a keyboard, who types like that?
I second sub forum!

if you try to make a thoughtful reply in politics, with reasoning and sources, it often kills the thread, or simply gets ignored.
if you want a response you need to take a strong (usually irrational) position.
but then of course what results is just a partisan flame war

"Scwad." I love it.
It's probably just a kid that didn't have the faintest clue where the proper place to post that was. A lot of the new ones post in the ED because they don't read the rules and think that "extended discussion" means talking about a topic for a long time.

A lot of the new ones post in the ED because they don't read the rules and think that "extended discussion" means talking about a topic for a long time. Actualy thats what exteneded discussion basicaly is, talking about a topic for a long time. Literally, yes. Here: it means Cloverina Extended Discussion is a forum intended for involved discussion and debate between all Gaians. What makes a thread appropriate for ED is not subject matter alone, but the level of discussion and debate the thread topic generates. Noraboo Threads should be made to maximize their potential for complex, multi-faceted discussion. When making a thread, please try and keep your topics as focused as possible to avoid broad, generalized conversation and opinion swapping. Taken from sticky. Talking for a long time about something doesn't make it ED worthy, otherwise threads consistly solely of "gljfkhfkla;jfap" would be okay. I know you didn't think that Temba, but the people Missy Wyvern meant, do think that. What can I say? They're morons.
