Hey everyone! Seeing an FF thread around here made me figure that maybe, just maybe, we could use a thread to chat about this game and stuff related to it.
For now, I thought it would be interesting to see which weapons from this game, have also been seen somewhere else. For example, I don't think I've seen weapons like the "hardedge" appear anywhere else (except on FFTA). In fact, right now I can't remember much about them. Do you? I wonder if some weapons can be found on other games like, CV for instance.
I've also included a poll for you gold diggers out there, he-he. mrgreen

Speaking of Gold Diggers, the creator of the comic with the same name is Fred Perry, who once did a short FFXI animation! ph34r my random mastery over trivia! scream xd
A ton of weapons in FF7 were done in other games. Most of the weapons are based off of a potluck of mythologies and legends so are bound to show up in other fantasy games. The masamune for instance, featured in both Chrono Trigger, and Soul Calibur 2 (although chrono trigger is Square, and ALMOST a final fantasy so I dunno if it counts).
You know what would be a pretty badass duel? Sephiroth versus Vampire Hunter D. Winner gets to take on Oni Kirimaru! Speaking of ogre slayer, I looked for a cool clip on you tube, and all they have are a couple of crappy 2 minute things in SPANISH. How incognito is this thing, Jesus! rolleyes

Masamune was a Japanese swordsmith of folkloric proportion, and has been made reference to in innumerable video games and probably anime. I wouldn't just write that off as a connection between the games.

That's what I was trying to say dude sweatdrop Half the weapons in any given FF game are references to folklore, legends, myths, whatever you wanna call it. And any given fantasy RPG will usually have at least one as well, thus the odds of FF and other games sharing weapons are rather high 3nodding hypnocrown For now, I thought it would be interesting to see which weapons from this game, have also been seen somewhere else. He wasn't saying weapons that were a reference to final fantasy, he just means weapons in final fantasy that have appeared elsewhere...

My goodness! This thread hasn't been touched in a while, huh? I guess I must have forgotten about it too.
Thanks Shi! That's what I was saying exactly.
How about we change the topic?
How about FF accessories? I've been wondering which have been on more than one FF game. Does anyone know? I don't cuz I haven't played that many. mrgreen I do know that my username comes from one of such accessories and that it doesn't just appear on FF7 (I used to think it was the only FF that had it). 3nodding

Well, there are a lot of recurring items in general as you go on through the Final Fantasy universe. The Ribbon appears in nearly every Final Fantasy as an accessory that wards away bad status effects, the Ragnarok appears in most of them as a weapon (inorite?), as well as the Masumune. In essence, there are a lot of items that cross over between Final Fantasy's.
The same can also be said of spells (even though they didn't start translating them correctly until Final Fantasy VIII) and summons.

I wish I could play more FF games to agree with you. I can't remember right but I think there are ribbons in both FF7 & FFTA. I still have both games but I can no longer play FF7 cuz my PS2 just stopped working. I know I said this already but I got my name from an accessory I saw on FF7 and I began to wonder which other FF games have it also cuz, it doesn't appear in FFTA at all.

Ribbons really are the only accessory to still be used, that and the genji equipment.

Well, if you really want to check and see what items tend to reoccur throughout the Final Fantasy Universe, then you could always check FFcompendium.net- it's a great site that tells you almost everything there is to know about Final Fantasy.

This must be cuz I haven't played many FF games but the only game I've actually seen the Genji equipment has been on FFTA. rolleyes Thanks for mentioning that site Neph! I'll check it out right now. Maybe we should have a change of topic about now. How about a discussion over FF7's storyline? For example, I was wondering what everyone else thought about the fact that this game has only one ending no matter what you do? Before I finished it for the first time, I was expecting to see at least 3 different endings. Maybe not completely different but still... sweatdrop

It doesn't have alternate endings, but it has the little bonus scene after the credits. Not many FF games have alternate endings though do they? It's not the kind of game that really has need for them.

Bland games with shallow storylines don't need more than one ending. With the exception of Final Fantasy VI, VII, and Tactics, I'm not a huge fan of Final Fantasy. If you want story, then play something from Atlus. Their games' stories trounce Final Fantasy most of the time- namely their Shin Megami Tensei series.
I suppose I'm being a bit harsh on the series, though, seeing as how I buy each of them that comes out. Maybe I'm expecting the proverbial lightning to hit again with their games. So far, I'm just disappointed. Here's to hoping that Final Fantasy XIII and VERSUS XIII won't be complete letdowns.
As for Final Fantasy VII's story line, I can't help but feel that they're milking it WAY too much now. I was happy with Dirge of Cerberus, even though the gameplay itself was rather lackluster, it shed more light into Vincent's background. I even liked Advent Children, since it felt like it brought Final Fantasy VII to a conclusion that was missing in the original game. But, I have to say, all the other installments are beginning to make my interest wane.
Final Fantasy VII has, in essence, become its own game series. Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus, and the rumored Eternal Crisis for the PS3. How long can they keep this series going?

That actually is a large reason why Final Fantasy is one of the most notable series for Square Enix. Back when Square Pictures made "Final Flight of the Osiris" for "The Animatrix" and "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within", Square was on top- namely thanks to Sakaguchi. How ironic that it was Sakaguchi's greenlight of The Spirits Within that bankrupted the company. stare In essence, they've had to make only what would earn money for the company as a whole and pay off what they owed Sony (which bought 1/3 of their stock to keep them afloat). It's a huge reason why we haven't seen another Chrono game or any other Square game that we love.

They are not going to stop until they ruin the story, remake and burn the franchise*cough*X-2*cough*. But whatever, not my product, i'm just a fan, and whoever listens to them. FYI the reason why we have not seen a chrono game is because before square merged with enix, square was remaking CT. They got half way into the program and the enix vp veto the release. I really hate what enix did to the company. Alot of square games get released in japan, and droped everywhere else, because they feel like they would lose money. The last 3 FF had harder/better versions made. I believe there are 3 different ver of 12 out. A better ver of both kingdom hearts came out, that us americans will never see unless we import. Alot of ds and psp rps they make never leave japan. It kinda pisses me off as a rpg player to see less and less every year.
