I have a tendency to post similar threads on every metaphysical guild, and this one doesn't have even a single AP-based thread, so I'll have the first. ^_^ I have difficulty achieving separation, any help that anyone is willing to offer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much, ~Darin.

I think that is because AP is one of the hardest things to fully achieve. I think I have achieved the tingly feeling, but that is about it. I haven't achieved anything else. I either fall asleep, or just get restless. I believe that is a point in which the soul wants to lift out, but I am not sure.

I think you might be trying too hard.
Sometimes astral projection isn't about your conscious mind actually leaving your body like some paintings may suggest, but allowing your consciousness to expand, or focus on the place you wish to travel to.
What I like to do is imagine I'm watching a polaroid picture develope of the person or place I wish to visit. I focus on an object or person, get all the details, then allow the place around it to come into view until the picture is full, then step through into the place that object or person is.
mind you I'm no pro at it

I think I'v almost done it last night.... After the self-inducied sleep paralysis, I began to focus on the resonance in my head until I felt like my two bodies were about to separate... sadly, it failed. I'll try again until something happens.

I'll try again until something happens. A lot of times that sleep paralysis and the tingling feeling happens when I'm not trying to do AP...its odd, but neat at the same time. I think part of the trick to actually being successful at it is to not think/try TOO hard. Which is difficult in and of its self! sweatdrop

Well, I've been trying to do some work in the thread on OBE & Astral Travel. Any time it is done accidently, the person is usually excessively relaxed or so stressed out they need to "Escape" For anyone trying to intentionally travel, they kind of need to be in the same mind set.

Thyna Well, I've been trying to do some work in the thread on OBE & Astral Travel. Any time it is done accidently, the person is usually excessively relaxed or so stressed out they need to "Escape" For anyone trying to intentionally travel, they kind of need to be in the same mind set. The escape thing actually makes sense...I guess I never thought of that before. And I think I've done it because of both at one point or another. In OBE & AT/AP, how far could one go from there body, and is there a point when its too dangerous? For example, I have a friend in TN that I would like to see very much, and they have been trying to come see me, since they know what my apartment looks like. Would it be dangerous for them to come all this way? Or is travel distance different since its technically on another plane? Sorry, I know simple basics, but other than that...zilch. sweatdrop

As far as I know there are no set limits except by ones ability and imagination. (I've been to australia, various constelations, and spirit realms)
I know some people fear that if their Spirit cord (silver cord that connects the soul to the body as it travels) snaps, their soul might become lost and may not be able to return to the body. But then I've been in meditations where that cord gets cut so we are not bound to Earthly destinations and can go higher in the spirit realms. So all I can suggest is don't let your fears limit you, and attempt to go as far as your abilities will take you.

AP is one of the hardest things to do. Though I have found that for me the key to AP for me is to not concentrate on getting out of my body so much as concentrating on where I want to be. Whether that be in the same room I am in already or not. I find it easier to get out of my body when concentrating on a particular person I want to visit as well. It has gotten easier and easier for me to AP ever since I met my spirit guide as well. Seeing as now that I have met my spirit guide I take on his form when I AP as opposed to trying to hold onto my human form. I hope this will help you.

I need to escape... However, I DID manage a lucid dream after I fell asleep one night after attempting Astral Projection. Trouble is, I only stayed lucid for a few seconds... that would be several minutes in real time. My mind went "back to sleep" afterward.

Raeden Michelle Thanks Thyna! That actually does make sense. Would you have to know what the place looks like? Or could it just be an imaginative place (like meditations)? If you have a set destination in mind, there is usually something that acts as a focus point to pull you there, but doesn't have to be a full familiarity of a place (in fact if you can describe the lay out of a place that you have never physically seen to someone who has, it makes for some interesting skill confirmations)

That makes sense. Thank you, Thyna!
