Welcome to the Ohtori Amsterdam RP Guild! Here are the rules you must follow for the roleplay.

Posting Requirements

-You must make at least one post a week. If you fail to make the posting requirement, you will be removed from the RP. You have two chances to reapply, but your third violation will result in permanent removal.

- You are not to use emoticons in your posts.

- Please quote only the text in the other players posts that your character is responding to. (Actions they respond to only, or the dialogue that they heard.) And not the whole posts.

-Avoid one-liner posts as much as possible. Tell us what your character is thinking, feeling, seeing, etc.

- Your posts are to be in complete sentences and/or paragraphs, with as few spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors as possible. Capitalize, please. No netspeak allowed.

Bad example: *Sue walked over and smile* Hello i'm sue can I help you ~I hope he doesn't think im stupid.~.

Good example: Sue walked up to the young man and smiled. "Hello, I'm Sue. Can I help you? I hope he doesn't think I'm stupid.

- Please read everyone's posts, even if they are not related to your characters. Keep up with the position of all the characters.

-No flaming or harassing other members. Please respect your fellow RPers.

-OOC discussion must be kept to the appropriate thread.

- Content must be PG-13 or under.

Characters

- All background, talents, and skills are FINAL after acceptance of the application. Changes must be accepted by the GM or the mods.

-Do not have separate accounts for separate characters without the knowledge of the mods.

- Do not move other people's characters or make them react without the permission of the player of the character.

-Do not mix up in-character and out of character knowledge. YOU may know that character so-and-so has a secret agenda, but your character does not.

-If you want your character to have a past relationship with a previous character, you must have permission of the player of the character beforehand.

- Keep the timeline in mind: this RP is set in the early nineties. Slang your character uses should be from that timeline, along with any culture references you make. (Clothing, music, and other things should be kept in mind as well.)

-Your character will not start out as a Duelist, unless he or she is in the student council. There are only four members of the student council: the president, vice president, 2nd vice president, and secretary-treasurer. If all these positions are filled, your character will enter Ohtori as a normal student. It is up to you to build your character and give them motivation if you want them to be a Duelist. Who will or will not be a Duelist will be decided by the players for Akio and Anthy.

-If you want your character to have a specific talent, please do research on what you want them to have. Example: If your character is in the fencing team, please look up fencing terms and positions.

-Please remember to post for group scenes as frequently as possible: you are keeping more roleplayers waiting. These should not be one-on-one interactions.

Simple, easy rules to remember when fighting:

(1) Anything that causes permanent damage, you must have permission for. Broken arms, broken legs, broken anything. Same goes for severe damage to head, eyes, or vital organs.

(2) No killing.

(3) You may punch, slap, kick, or restrain people without permission.

(4) Keep character skills in mind when fighting.

Story

-The story takes place in the early nineties, in Ohtori Japan's sister school in Amsterdam. (Mentioned in the episode: 'The Barefoot Girl'.) The characters should have no knowledge of current American pop culture. There will be no DVDs, ipods, laptops, internet, or any technology not available in the time period.

- Ohtori Amsterdam is built almost the same as Ohtori Japan, complete with Rose Garden, Dueling Forest, and Student Council balcony.

- There will be no obvious revolutions, since doing so will contradict the canon. Your character may be able to change certain small things, and your character may become a martyr and die/graduate/whatever happens after Ohtori, but he or she will not revolutionize the world in any apparent way. Think Ruka.

RP

- Do not move the time in the RP from morning to noon, or from noon to night until after I have posted a notice that it is doing so. Such a notice will look like this:

Ivy-chan

Ohtori Clocktower: Afternoon has begun.

How To Create A Character

The following guidelines must be followed when creating a character for this RP. Others will be created as necessary:

1) The character is human. Anthy, Akio and Chu-Chu are the only non-humans available, and they're taken. No exceptions

2) No Speshul Powers. While the Nerdy Trio experimented with psychic phenomena in the show, there's no indication any such powers actually exist in the Utena-verse.

3) Keep the background logical. The timeframe is 1991 and the setting is Amsterdam. Keep this in mind when dealing with technology and social mores.

4) Your character must have weaknesses. When we say this, we mean things that could make your character unlikable. Something like: they're really godawful at English to the point of near idiocy, or they're self righteous, or they're so naive they can be tricked into almost anything...something that makes your character balanced. This would be a bloody boring world if everyone were nice, wonderful students with multiple talents.

Old Announcement Reposted Here:

Attention everyone: This is now time to review the rules of the school, especially the part about the student council. If you are a student in Ohtori, you should be fully aware of this fact: the student council are, in essence, demigods in the school social structure. They have more power than the teachers. They, in fact, have free reign as far as punishments go, and they can choose to wield that power as strictly as they wish. A member of the student council can change your class schedule, take you out of clubs or put you in them, and even suspend or expel you from the school. This power has been evidenced in the series, and is not some new innovation of mine.

I've noticed that the attitudes towards the student council characters are very casual, bordering on downright uncaring. I'm not saying it's impossible for a student there to resent them, or find the members stupid and/or arrogant. However, this is like speaking out against a dictator: not something you want to do.

Does this high social status come with any drawbacks? Theoretically, yes. They are Duelists: they are Akio's puppets. They are set there for him to toy with. They have little to no chance of entering a healthy relationship, maturing to an inconvenient degree, or doing anything that Akio does not approve of. Whereas, normal characters get to do, basically, whatever they like.

Please keep the fact that it is very different in Ohtori in mind.

School Rules (Excerpt From Flyer On Bulletin Board)

These rules apply IC. Your character CAN do these, if you think you can get away with them. I won't delete posts if you have your character, say, drinking beer in the school cafeteria. But I might have a teacher come by and investigate. I roll a punishment die to decide this.

Ohtori Academy is a highly prestigious school, and expects its students to be mature, responsible young people. Good manners and a high standard of behavior are expected at all times.

-There is to be no chewing of gum or consumption of food or beverages in classrooms, hallways, or bathrooms. Anyone found in possession of such an item will be dealt with accordingly. You may bring bottled water or small candies with you if you have a doctor's note.

-Shouting, fighting, bullying, climbing over school structures, or any other form of disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.

-You are not to engage in any action that endangers a teacher or a fellow student.

-No stealing or trespassing. Dormitories, personal lockers, and student desks are out-of-bounds.

-Students are not to be in possession of knives or firearms. All fencing supplies are to be left in the fencing hall.

-No leaving school grounds without permission. Students must have signed permission slips to visit the town.

-Students should be neat and tidy. Personal adjustments to the student uniform will not be tolerated. Top buttons of shirts are to be fastened, ties pushed up to the collar and of appropriate length, sleeves and trouser legs unrolled. Extreme hair styles are not allowed. Failure to follow the dress code may result in expulsion.

-Alcohol, cigarettes, and other drugs are not allowed on school grounds.

- Curfew is nine o' clock on school days.

Student Council Rules of Order

- The council presides primarily over affairs of concern to the student body. They regulate social events, as well as any important, school-wide event.

- Every council member has the right to discipline a member of the student body, should they break any of the school rules. The student council member can decide how harsh the punishment may be, relying entirely on their personal judgment.

-The student council member must maintain the professional and mature image our school wishes to uphold. The student council represent the very finest of the student body, and must act as such.

- No one but the Chairman or the student council has power over student council affairs. An administrator, principal, or teacher of the school does not have the right to mete out any form of punishment to a student council member. Should an administrator feel that a member has not behaved in accordance to their position, they are allowed only to discuss it with the member at fault and with the council as well.

- The President of the council may, at any time, for the proper reasons, suspend, strip privilege or duties from, or expel a member from the student council. The rest of the members have the power only to expel the President, but it must be voted on unanimously.

The Rules of The Order of the Duelist

This is mailed to every Duelist by an unknown source. Every Duelist knows these rules.

- The existence of the arena , the duels, and the Bride herself are to be kept completely secret. Compromising the secrecy of the duels will lead to drastic consequences.

- The Bride belongs to and obeys only her Victor, and is subject to his every whim. The Bride lives only to serve the Victor that is chosen through the duels.

- Only Duelists may enter the arena.

- The Bride must not be taken to the arena unless there is a proper duel.

- No harm must come to your fellow Duelists by your sword. Aim only for the roses on the lapels of your uniforms.

-These are the rules of the Duelist. Know that breaking these rules will result in punishment which includes expulsion from the school
