I'm not in a band but I've been writting songs on the guitar and piano. I'm self taught, and it shows... sweatdrop

I have a one man band that mostly involves me banging on the piano and singing obnoxiously loud Christmas carols. It's a seasonal thing.

The joke among my group of friends is that all of us are really part of one giant band made up of a bunch of little bands. Imagine a Venn diagram charlie foxtrot of bands.
I play guitar and bass, and sometimes I sing. I've written songs but still don't have the cojones to present them to any bands for recording. They're very personal.
An unnecessarily extensive rundown of the bands I'd been in and what they did:
Hadouken
This was in June 2000, so we even predated the band Hadouken that predated the band Hadouken! and forced them to put a "!" at the end for copyright purposes. We commandeered a classroom on the last day of school and played mostly Weezer, Deftones, and Nirvana covers.
DEFROST
Partially acoustic, partially electronic, 100% crap. We played five or six house parties and even released an online-only EP of really shitty, unmastered tracks.
Fair Dinkum
We won the Battle of the Bands my senior year of high school, playing two school shows and two house parties.
The Elles
I threw the band together for a Public Relations class project. We recorded all covers. They were half-bad (and half-good, at least). We also played two house parties and a local showcase.
Grabba Handful
Plenty of practice, one horrible set at a house party. Then the drummer moved to Glasgow or something.
Missing Piece
This is actually the band I'm currently in, and the band name is still tentative. We're pretty decent, whenever it is we actually get together and practice. If we ever put something together, I'll definitely drop by this guild and plug shamelessly.

I'm not, but I wish I was!! I can't play piano very well, and I'm intimidated by the guitar... haha. I'm a loser... I'll just stick to marching band for now. =D

it would be awesome to be in a band...but i cannot keep a tune ( at all) and i don't have any patience to actually learn an instrument...so sad

I was in an "idea" for a band that consisted of me on guitar and the rest was an oboe, flute/piccolo, and bass. It was... interesting, even though we never got around to practicing.___&!

ACTUALLY, yeah. XD
I sing and play keyboards and synthesizer and write songs 'n' stuff for this somewhat/mildly electronic and rock-ie (sorry, I'm pretty bad at describing genres ;D) band that I'm in. We haven't recorded anything yet, though. When we do, I'll re-post (if I can remember)
