The song of the day was a pleasent one, soothing and relaxing, not so rhythmic as yesterdays, but more jazzy. Juke swayed to it as he walked, his head moving in an 'S' shape to the birds' song. It was not unusual for the lion to dance while he roamed the rogue lands, and it was also far from unusual for him to get lost. Such a day was today, where he had not payed any attention to where he was going, his eyes shut tight, beautiful colors swirling in his eyelids to the sounds of nature. When he finally did open them, it was to his great dismay that he was quite near the Pridelands, almost too near. If he wasn't careful, he'd enter the boundries, and surely be cahsed away by the resident males.

With a longing gaze in the direction pride rock must have been in, he plopped his bottom into the grass. Though his exsistence on earth fit the lief of a free spirited rogue more than anything else, he had always had a want throbbing in the bottom of his mind to belong to something greater than a lumped together group of antisocial lions on the outskirts of territories. Perhaps one day he would join a group, one to call a family, and maybe even find himself a beautiful lioness within that family to call his own. But those days, if they were to come, were more than likely far in the future, and for now all he could do was through glances at the happy fathers with their happy mates in their happy prides.

The sad thoughts flowing through his brain nearly blocked out the music for a moment, which greatly disturbed Juke when he came to realize it. With a shake of his skull, grey mane flopping about his steely blue ears, Juke forced a focus on the savannah's beat, back to the smooth tune that was played out by today's daily going-ons. It relaxed his mood greatly, and he almost forgot about the desire to belong. And so the male sat there, bobbing his head, eyes once again shut, a smile on his face, quite content with the day.

Amaterasu padded through the savannah grasslands, belly swollen with two pups. She knew she was well beyond the Prideland's borders, but on this day, she didn't care. She had been so quickly inducted into the lands that she hadn't ever gotten the chance to check out the borders. She had to know anyway, to keep her pups safe in the future.

She turned her head skyward and saw birds flying by, their shadows eclipsing the sun momentarily. She had to smile, the lands were so beautiful. Her view turned to the horizon, and she could see as far as any creature could ever want. The only distrubance was a steely-blue figure a little bit in the distance. Amaterasu slowly and cautiously headed in its direction.

The music suddenly had a new insturment in it, the grasses swaying in a way against the wind to a rhythmic walking beat. Juke opened an eye, looking around for the new drummer. The figure of a heavily pregnant dog was comming his way, and the lion supressed the chuckle at the thought that he was not going to meet with any felines at all this week. So far, he'd literally run in to a wild dog, and now what appeared to be a maned wolf from this distance was making her way in his direction. At least, he assumed it was a she. The large belly suggested a litter, and no male could carry pups. In a sing song voice, the male decided it best to call out a greeting first for manners sake. "Hello there!"

Amaterasu sighed a sigh of relief. It seemed the figure was a lion, male, and friendly. Friendly enough to say hi, how unfriendly could he be? Ammy continued on, more confident now, trying to remain even just a bit graceful. She couldn't wait to have these pups out of her... She always felt so weighed down every day. Still, she was happy to have them, and angry at the no-good father who ran away on her, and on them.

She shook her head to clear it, and called back, "Hello!" She got within a respectable distance, bowed her head a little, and said, "I'm Amaterasu, who're you?" From what she knew of him (despite the fact that that was very little,) she rather liked him.

The lion twitched his tail lightly, ever to the rhythm of the earth, watching the swollen wolf make her way towards him. The bowed head was taken quite kindly, as he bowed his own in return. It was refreshing, the manners, for even a creature so happy go lucky as he was in love with the old traditions of his fathers. Even arranged marriage was something he did not frown upon, for he himself would've been promised away if his mother hadn't been a lowly rogue. Ah well, that was all the past.

With a smile, he called back out to her. "I am Juke, Miss Amaterasu. Would you mind me going to you as to talk without shouting?" Even the such slight a distance between them was to far for comfortable volumes of speech, and the yelling clashed something fierce with the music for that day.

Amaterasu simply smiled and swished her tail as she picked up the pace and nodded. She agreed, the yelling was a bit irritating. She got to within comfortabel talking distance to the young male and sat, somewhat tired. Her pups still took away a lot of her energy, and she sat in the grass, content to be still for a while.
"Wonderful to meet you Juke," Amaterasu said with a smaller dip of the head than before. "I live in the Pridelands, just over there," Ammy explained. "Where are you from?" she asked with a pleasant smile. Amaterasu had nearly lost her fear of lions. She did wish she could cure herself of it completely.

The lion felt slightly guilty, as he was entirely ready to beat his way over towards the wolfess as opposed to her moving. However, she seemed to want to be the conductor and take control of their song, and so he stepped back and allowed it fully. "It's nice to meet you, as well, Amaterasu." He nodded once again in response to her quick dip, and then went on to answer her questions. "I don't really live anywhere. Well, I guess I do. The rogue lands." He never treuly thought of himself as having a home, even though a rogue is often classified as being of residence in the roguelands. "How many are you expecting?" The male couldn't help but hide his delight in the idea of newborns as he pointed a cadet blue paw towards the swollen belly the maned wolf bore.

"I'm expecting 2," Amaterasu said with a smile and a small nod. The thought of the pups brought joy to her heart, and made her feel warm. However, deep down, there was a sliver of fear, ruining the completeness of the warm feeling. She was good at shaking off the fear by now. "I used to be a wanderer too. I wanted to have a pack of my own though," Ammy confided, "So I settled down over there," She gave a slight jerk of her head towards the Pridelands. "It's very peaceful there. I love it," Ammy said, content with the lands. She wondered if he was looking for something, or just purposelessly meandering.

He nodded, showing his understanding of everything she had said. Two pups? How lovely. "Congradulations on that." Two was a nice number, really, but he figured once he had his own cubs, he might quite like three. It was an average number, was it not? A bit in the middle? Nice number, yes. Then again, two meant less work on whomever the dear mother would be, and Juke didn't want to strain someone he cared for. "I believe I like being a rogue, actually." He smiled at the thought. Free to dance about all day and do whatever he pleased. There was something missing from the whole picture, however. "Except... Being a member of a pride would be quite nice. Belonging to something, and all..." His voice trailed off dreamily.

"Well, I know this much," Ammy said, hoping she could help, "You can come and go in the Pridelands, or at least that's what I was told. You belong, but you're free to do what you please. As long as it doesn't hurt anyone, anyway," Ammy amended, even though she was certain this lion wouldn't hurt a fly. She smiled. "I know how it is though, and it's your choice, I'm just saying... You're welcome to visit the Pridelands anytime you want. Maybe you could see the cubs further down the road!" Ammy said, tail wagging.

With his tail still rhythmically beating the ground, he smiled at the kind gesture and invitation. "Thank you. I might take up that oppurtunity someday." It was true that being a member of the pridelands would be very nice. Relaxing, even, as a pride meant protection. It could also be fun, for all he knew, as it meant constant companionship with those in the group. And it meant never hunting on his own again. Being a rogue, however, provided him with certain freedoms. Each had its own positives, and each its own negatives. It was a matter that would need great consideration, and might take a while to get an answer. "I might wait until I've found someone special, y'know." He winked, knowing that the wolf would know what he meant.

Ammy knew exactly what Juke meant by that wink. It was exactly the opposite of what her pups' father meant when he had winked at her. The father of her pups tempted her with sweet words then ran off once he had what he wanted. Coward, Ammy spat in her mind

She knew better now, and knew Juke wasn't like that. She was glad most males weren't like that, or she wouldn't be able to stand being around them at all.

"I understand," Amaterasu said, knowing what he felt like. She was almost feeling like him now. "I hope you find her, I'm sure you will," Ammy said, smiling at her new friend.

"Thank you. I hope to some day, some day soon if I could. Don't want to rush, though, of course." He shifted his weight a little, his thoughts driftin back into his own mind. It would be nice to find such a wonderful lioness soon, would it not? Then again, how would he know she was the one? He had been interested in a few in the past, as any creature would, but he had never found any female to stick with. Perhaps it would come some day, but perhaps it wouldn't. When would he know to give up?

Shaking such thoughts from his mind, however, he moved the subject forward to something relatively cheery. "Do you know what you will name the pups yet?"

Amaterasu's mood lightened considerably at mention of her pups. Even unborn, they filled her with joy; (Despite the fact that the no-good mutt of a father left her.)

"I've been thinking about it... It kind of depends on what they look like, but right now I've been thinking Ukabe and Taka-Okami. If they're both boys that is..." Ammy could talk about her future pups for hours, but decided she'd sum it up quicker than that, since it'd be rude to rant on and on without giving Juke a chance to speak. "Taka-Okami for one, boy or girl. If the other's a boy, Ukabe is his name, but I don't have a female name yet..." Ammy finished with a quick nod.

"Those are lovely names." He smiled enthusiastically and nodded. Slowly, his eyes came to rest on the receding sun in the distant horizon. He didn't want to be rude, of course, but he also didn't want to sleep so close to the edge of a pride territory. If he were to be found and thought an intruder, it could be disasterous. Plus, he was growing tired, and he had to hunt out a place to sleep. With a slightly embarassed look, he shifted to a stand and looked at her. "Well, ma'am, I'm going to have to get going. It's getting late and all and I have to find a nice comfortable place to sleep. It was nice talking to you, and I'll keep the Pridelands in mind for my future home. Maybe we'll meet again someday?" He smiled hopefully, nodded politely, and turned around. With the rhythmic walk he always had, he made his way away from the pregnant wolf and into the sunset.
