I find it quite troubling and irritating that a new card game came out... and it was derived form my fave card game ever.. Yu-gi-Oh! ever heard of Duel Masters? ewww.... even the name sucks... how can they create such a stupid game? i mean its so lame that even my grandma says it sucks... not really degrading the creatore but... come on... this sis an outrage! a scandal!

Ummm...Duel Masters the anime itself was a parody, purposely making fun of itself (and anything that may be have a hinting to any other certain shows), so the only reason the card game itself came out was either because people wanted to try it out, or marketing ploys. If you really want to get technical, a lot of the card games of today leeched their life from Magic! The Gathering Trading Cards. *Rubs back of head* I've forgotten the rules, I better go read them again...Also Duel Masters? Not new, I played it around a year or two ago (whenever the anime first came out to USA), and it's not really completely terrible.

[Only reason I be posting is because I personally cannot allow someone just to say that a card game sucks just because it derives from YGO (which, also in my opinion, didn't really). You buy the cards, that's your own fault. And really, it's just annoying to hear someone complaning about it, because usually, by know, everyone already knows]

i agree, though i will say that the creatures do look kinda cool XD

but i'm not too fond of the idea of having to use one of my strongest creatures as a summoning resource instead of a beat stick

Yeah, game play isn't great at all. The artwork is wonderful and vibrant though.

(sorry for the late posting but I have a point to make)
As you go from card game to card game, you will eventually come to a point where you can look at a card game, and see where certain features come from and what ones are unique to the game itself.

For example magic's card resource system is also featured in gundam war, duel masters, WoW and in the upcoming bleach cardgame, only each have their own twist to it.

Also the draw one per turn rule comes into play alot but some games go differently.

In the end though you will also find common strategies come into play for all card games.. aka fast resource gain and destruction of enemy resources.

So games do not really rip off of any other game, but more so uses some of their mechanics
