I've just been thinking about this a bit this morning. In Canada and the USA we're suppost to have this thing called "Freedom of Speech". But if thats the case why the hell are peopel still killed and threatened if they voice their oppinions. If I say I hate G. Bush, I now probably have multiple people wanting to threaten me. If I wrote a song about him making bad choices and published it then my live would probably be over. Why are people so harsh over what one person thinks? It just doesn't make sence.

Freedom of speech in the US of A is a thousand tmes better than in most places. People are harsh because freedom of speech to most americans is being allowed to say whatever teh ******** they want. When somone yells slander at me im gunna kick their a**, sure they have the rite to say it but it doesnt mean its ok. And every song in todays world is ******** BUSH ******** IRAQ, get something original, nothinng bad happns to people who write those songs, because its socially acceptable. Bands with balls where the first ones to do it, aka system of a down, and the dead kennedys. GreenDay wasnt political until long after them and after all that everyone thinks that protest songs are "ballsy"

I know its harsh in other countrys, but for this I was just pointing out the fact:

You have freedom of speech, unless the government doesn't like what you're saying.

Well they boycotted music by the Dixie Chicks in most of america because one of the girls made a comment about bush. Teachers in Canada can get fired if they metion any religious stuff in class, or even talk about christmas. Unless its a religious school. Lots of people are restricted in their views.

teachers have to keep religion out of government schools because a childs mind is easily morphed and it is not fair for a religion to be imposed on a child. Also the dixie chicks wherent boy cotted by the govt they where boycotted by stupid right wing idiots but they have just as much a rite to scream theyre hatred for the dixie chicks as the dixiechicks do to hate bush.

But it was rediculous for their music to be boycotted from playing in most the states. Yes the people have a right to scream agains them, but they shouldn't destroy thier music. I agree with what you said about religion in schools. I don't think the teachers should ramble on and give lessons about it, but they should still be allowed to mention the odd thing. A lot of my teachers did and I don't believe in any of their religions.

Hey i hate nazis so im not going to let them play at my theatre. Do i have the rite to do that? yes i do because its my private property and i have freedom of speech. Sure its lousy for the dixie chicks to be so hated for what they said but they have just as much a rite to be hated as they do to say what they said. Yeah i know about schools. But its a technicality. Most teachers wont get in any trouble for it. But the constitution or something states seperation from church and state and if the teacher mentions one god they need to mention everyones god. I think its rediculous as well but its a technicality.

for the most part i agree with vampiricpyro. the government has never banned the dixie chicks, and you can buy their music anywhere in the us. protest by the citizens is different from oppression by the government. and any teacher can say anything they wish about anything outside of the classroom and away from the influence of other people's kids, who may not wish opinions to be repeated to a malleable young mind. freedom of speech isn't being safe from your fellows - it's not being thrown in jail for expressing a respectful opinion.

well DUH, freedom of speach is a lie! it's impossible! cause some peopel would just use there freedom of speech to threaten other people to think like them. it's realy just a trap. at least america tried...once upon a time..yeah, i hate bush too....he's a tyrant if there ever was one, and stupid to boot! is it just me, or has our government only ever been run by immature rednecks who are supposed to be at least like 40 something, but act like grade schoolers...? no, it actualy has...huh...whataya know?.... sweatdrop
