It's really just flat lands, low in a valley and away from the cold. It's quite pleasant really with the deciduous forest, and the cool waters. It's also fairly rocky and the river moves a lot slower.

A boy lay sprawled on the inside of a meander. He was out for the count and fairly beaten. His clothes were drenched, and he had various bruises along his skin.
A small cough alerted reality to his presence as the various birds scattered from the tree's.
"Alive?" He muttered. That was something he dared not dream. Yet he couldn't move his body yet.

Kai moved his fingers trying to encourage his body to move. His mind was already up and off, but his body was having none of it. He moved his arm up and then punched the ground hard sending vibrations through his body.
He used this to get his muscles moving, and thus he stood up. Well at least, he wasn't fatigued any more. Although he was dripping wet, and rather drained form the ordeal, and being half dead wasn't a good thing when you wanted to become a Shinobi.
He walked forwards into the tree line where he came to a large tree, he turned and faced it.
"Damn..." He muttered feeling the bruises along his back, particularly over his shoulders and down the backs of his legs. He held out his arm trying to figure out if the pain was restricting his movement. He began his stretching exercises, and although they hurt, he could take the pain because if he didn't he'd never become a Shinobi.

Kai punched the nearest tree with all the strength he had, which at the time wasn't much and barely shook the tree. A few dead leaves fell off. Not good, he'd had to train harder if he wished to succeed. He punched the tree again with the same fist, and again and again, again, again and again.
He wasn't just trying to train here, he was trying to get some kind of sensation back into his hand, and pain was usually the best way to do that. He carried on punching with his other fist, allowing blood to circulate. He was cold he knew that much and was probably suffering from hypothermia.
"Why, why the hell did I have to fall," He punched the tree again. His arms were warming up nicely.

Having warmed up everything above his waist line, Kai decided enough was enough and kicked the tree hard. The pain went straight up his leg.
"DAMMIT," He gritted his teeth. He hardly had any sensation in his feet to figure out where his feet were. He tried again, and again and again.
Tap, Tap, Tap, WHACK...were the pattern of sounds coming from the tree as he kicked the hell out of it. Kai struck again, and alternated his legs, doing the same method as above.
"Must, get stronger, must get faster..." He muttered in his chant as he kicked again harder.

Having warmed up his body again, he was hungry once more, breakfast wasn't on the menu either. He kicked the tree with the toe of his foot and an apple fell on his head.
"Huh?" He caught the apple before it fell to the floor. Taking a bite out of it, he let the juices run through his mouth, he'd have to get moving back to the village soon.
That was...until he heard a twig crack. He finished off the apple. What the hell was it with him, why did people always challenge him. He heard it before he saw, and jumped to avoid the Kunai that sank deep into the tree which he'd been kicking.
He landed once more in the same spot.
"Come out of there," Kai said coldly his eyes resuming the iciness that he often portrayed.

A boy came out, it was the boy from the restaurant district, not the one who had called the names, but he was dressed in combat uniform. Kai looked at him as he walked out from the shadows holding another Kunai.
"You might be strong, but, I can fight all out here," The boy said and assumed his fighting stance. It was a Shaolin style. Kai looked at him and didn't even both assuming a style he just walked forwards much to the boys amazement. The boy made the first move with a sweeping kick up to Kai's head.
Kai ducked swiftly, dropping into a kneeling position, but it appeared the boy wasn't done and followed his kick round before switching feet and going for a low reverse kick to Kai's face. The kick, met, but not Kai's face, he was forced back a little.
"Humph," Kai said and made his move, darting forwards.

The boy spread his arms slightly and then kicked up with his other foot, sharply. Kai embraced the kick and then trapped it on the outside before driving his fist into the boy.
It wasn't the strongest of attacks but still, the boy hadn't expected it and thus caused more damage. Kai took this moment of shock to continue his attack, and dropped the leg, swirling around and striking the boy with a reverse kick to the back. The boy ducked evading Kai's attack and went straight to sweep Kai's legs from under him.
Kai jumped backwards over the boy, he was fast and strong, there was going to be a challenge here. He landed roughly about a meter away before racing forwards again towards the boy.
He had barely risen before Kai smashed his fist into the boy's side. He wasn't about to give up, and the boy seemed to realize this as he fell sideways away from the fist. Kai wasn't finished and slammed is foot into the boy's stomach as he fell kicking him up and away.

"You're not any better you know, you're still as bad as before," Kai said coldly and the boy got up taking a Kunai in his hand, his other hand in a flash launched a combo of two Shruikens and one Kunai straight at Kai.
Kai growled and ducked, he hadn't expected that.
"Too easy!" The boy said throwing the Kunai he had been holding as a distraction. Kai couldn't evade this one.
"Tch," Kai moved his arms slightly in front of him to guard. The Kunai struck his elbow and deflected off into the air as the boy charged straight at him. Kai took the kunai from the air, and spun up and around with the Kunai in a anti-clockwise direction, and thrust the Kunai straight into the boy's fist. splitting his hand open.
"AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE," The boy screamed and jumped back, with the Kunai still between his fingers. The attack had been flawless and perfect.

"This fight is finished," Kai said noticing that his clothes were now dry. He'd have to get his elbow seen to sometime soon, otherwise he might catch and infection. He looked up towards the sun and down to his shadow.
Judging from the position of the sun, the length of his shadow, the density of the plants and the general landscape, Kai predicted that he was four miles away from the Cascades village and which direction he needed to head in to get to the village.
Kai glanced at the boy who was nursing his injury and proceeded further into the tree's. It wouldn't be long until he reached his destination now. It was only four miles away after all.

A little further into the forest Kai stopped to look at a plant, it was seemingly normal with just a little white flower. He picked it and rubbed it into his wound.
"At least the plants are good for something around here." He carried on walking again, and the bleeding stopped. The plant helped blood clot together to heal wounds and although not the best, it was effective at what it did, it also had a basic anti-septic stimulant inside it as well.
He didn't profess to know much, but what he did know, he was something that was worth knowing. He carried on walking along the paths that had been created by animals.
The village shouldn't have been that far away now, maybe he could start up a herbal stall for now and help Ninja who needed the herbs. Perhaps the medic nin would hire him. He doubted it but carried on either way.
