Catnip has large leaves that kind of look like soft, exaggerated mint or peppermint leaves. The leaves branch off of stalks which grow to about 2 1/2 feet. Catnip is a hardy, bushy plant. It will come back each year, it seeds itself. The flowers are in tiny pinkish-purple bundles, at the tops of the stalks. When the flowers die off, what remains are a bundle of tiny round seeds, about triple the size of this period. That is the best description I can give.
What can you do with it?
->Give Dried leaves, flowers, seeds, and stalks to your cat for a treat. For some cats it acts as an appetite stimulant. If your cat is not eating, sprinkle some on its food.
->Make catnip tea.
->How I got started on catnip was for my cats. My cats and the feral cats have their own large garden to enjoy. It is always fun to watch them roll in it.

Also, like all members of the mint and catnip family another indicator of it is its stem shape. The stems tend to be kind of square in shape and not round like most plants.
Hope you find some! wink

The seeds are tiny and black, but the seed pods are like most mints- a fuzzy bundle at the tip of each stalk, usually where the flowers bloom.
And it's a mild sedative for children and adults alike, and can help induce sweating during fevers.
