Type: Private Setting: Uh... This is just between Zeke and me. We're testing out a 'new' character of mine.
To explain her would take a long time, but I'll do it anyway. For a while, I've wanted to do something randomish where Muriko somehow hitches a ride with Zeke so that she's joyriding with him. Due to some of the newer Bleach RPs not wanting characters related to canon, I've been trying to come up with an AU version of Muriko who is not really Muriko, at least in terms from being from a Bleach universe.
So after recently watching the pilot 'movie' for Dead Like Me, I have decided that this AU Muriko (who shall be named Aithee) is a 'shinigami' from an alternate universe completely different from Bleach world, a place where the Reapers have the job to take souls from the body right before death and watch other them until they pass on to the next life.
Now, from what I can tell of the pilot, there is no supernatural fighting involved with these Reapers. I may or may not have Aithee's world have some form of spiritual abilities. I really dont know.
Feel free to comment OOCly if you'd like, either about the (lack of a good) plot, or ideas on what do/not do with Aithee.
----------
Humming cheerfully to herself, the young woman smiled into the mirror, admiring the red coating on her lips. The make up in this world was astounding. Well, everything was, when she thought about it, but the simple ability to be able to apply a water-resistant lipstick on herself just made her giggle inside. And it had such a vibrant color, too~
Standing up from leaning over the bathroom counter, Aithee inspected the new articles of clothing she had purchased. The fabric was soft, and quite comfy. What had Zeke called it? Cotton? And the parts were something else too. Less than five hours there, and she was in love. The fashion in this world was so strange! She had never seen women walk around with such bareness as some of the youth did. It was outrageous!
But yet, highly intriguing.
Grinning, the young woman posed, mimicking some of the stances she had seen on the streets for a few moments before calling it quits. With a one final brush down of her shirt, Aithee strode out of the bathroom and back into the bar. With the subtle shift of her hips as she walked (also picked up from the women of this world), she caught a number of men looking her way. Thoroughly pleased with the reaction, she continued to smile brightly and wave at a few individuals.
Walking closer to the front, she spotted her new companion standing in a less populated location, arm propped against the bar top. Quickly she made her way over, hopping on one of the stools.
"I'm back~" she sang, leaning in towards him.
((If this doesn't flow well, I blame my Doctor Who high. As for her outfit, uh.. that one picture I sent you works. Just give it a bit more spice.))

With the slow, methodical beat playing in the surroundings, Zeke was busy preoccupying himself with tapping his fingers impatiently on the bartop. He wasn't exactly excited about his current predictament. Having worked solo for centuries didn't exactly prepare him for the day when he would have a partner thrust onto him. Especially one with seemingly little to no talents other than going "hey, that ghost is a dead person!". Of course, she was hot, so that kind of made up for it. But she was kiiiiiiinda a spaz.
Since he had some time off, which he assumed was to be used to get to know his new lacky...er...subordina...er...partner. So he decided to warp her to the same world he had received his current articles of clothing. They were light, comfortable...and a hell of a lot nicer looking than the drab she was wearing before. He had conjured up some cash and let her pick out whatever she wanted, instructing her to meet him back here whenver she was ready.
So, of course, when she appeared in what she, um...appeared in, he was surpised to have nothing to say. Which was a good thing, because most likely it would have been a string of stammers and howls.
Struggling to keep his eyes and tongue inside his head, he merely nodded approvingly, and turned back to the bar. Taking a deep breath, he regained his composure. "Glad to see you're back...I take it you enjoyed yourself?"

She gave him an almost manic grin. "Oh, immensely!" She threw up her arms wide as if to say 'this much!' as she sat back on her seat. "Hearing about crazy, new worlds is one thing, but to experience them is completely different!"
She was elated, thrilled, and craved to explore. The little she had seen while wandering the clothing shops she had been two, and then subsequently the walk to the pub It made her want to bounce around. And giggle. For no reason at all, really, other than she was in a brand new world with so many things to see.
Her companion didn't seem to take much excitement in that fact. She did recall him say something about he'd been there before, so maybe that was the reason. He was just used to it all. But even within familiar places, there were always things still left to be found. Even when she had been shopping, he had looked mightily bored, far beyond the normal disdain for shopping all men seemed to have. She wondered why he didn't seem enthused with anything.
Had he traveled around so much for so many centuries (Or was that some-thousand of years? She couldn't remember.) that he didn't care anymore? That he was out of touch with the simple pleasures of life?
Sliding off the stool, Aithee sent Zeke another grin, one more reserved. "C'mon!" she ordered, her voice jovial as she tugged on his arm with both hands, half-pulling him away from the bar. "You've got a world to show me!"

Great. There was that colossol cheeriness that emminanted from her. He wasn't sure where it came from, but god damn was it annoying. Sighing, stood up from his seat and followed her as she tugged him outside. Upon exiting, the cool night air seemed to clear up his senses. The melodic thrumming of the bar exited his ears, replaced instead by only the sound of the occasional passing car.
"Well...what is it you are wanting to see?" Zeke had lost his desire to sight see several...thousand years ago. Or, really, his view on what was "fun" or "exciting" anymore. He had no idea what she would be interested in seeing.
Of course, add in the fact that he still barely knew the girl, and that doubled the confusion as to what he was supposed to do with her.
Shrugging off her arms, he slipped his forearms underneath her arms. Raising into the air, the two shot off into the night air, the wind blowing past them. He figured a little birds-eye view of the city would be enough to shut her up, at least for a while.

She didn't have to think about that one. "Everything!" she declared with a small giggle. "I've been here, what, two or so hours? I've seen a market and a pub. That's it. And I know there's more to this world than that! What're all the small quirks of this place? What sort of crazy machinery is there that I don't know of, or what does my world have that this doesn't? It's all new, and I wanna see as much of it as I can! Show me the goods!"
Aithee knew such an endeavor would take them a long time, maybe a lifetime if he went with literally showing her everything there was to offer, but she didn't mind. Travel was travel, an exciting adventure that you didn't know what would bring you. Her previous career had left her little room to go caravanning too far out of her town, and now that she was liberated of such restrictions, she wanted nothing more than to explore every reaches of this world.
At least, until they received an assignment elsewhere. But even then, there'd be another adventure there for sure. So really, it was a win-win situation for her.
She was about to ask what he was doing with his arm around her, but she barely had the chance to form the first syllable on her lips before they sailed up into the dark sky above. A touch startled, she barely noticed the small gasp that escaped her mouth, but soon it turned into a laugh as the wind tugged at her long hair.
As their ascent slowed and finally stopped, she silent at the wondrous sky-scape before her. It was absolutely breathtaking. Mouth agape, a smile tugging at the edges of her lips, Aithee turned in his arms, careening her neck to see as much as she could. So many lights, and so many buildings, many of them taller than she had thought possible to be built, filled the horizon. How many people lived in this city alone? She wondered idly, how they were even able to sleep with so many lights to create the illusion of daytime in the small hours of the night. "Oh my God, this is.... this is.."
She turned to gaze at him, wondering what his reaction would be, and instantly her grin turned sour. "Hey, hey! Show some cheer!" she insisted, poking him in the chest. Why the hell was he not enjoying the view? She thought it was fantastic! Superb! Brilliant! The best thing she'd seen yet! And he was looking complete and utterly indifferent, bored, vacant even. Was he insane?

Great. So much for taking her breath away. Or at least just her words. She was still stammerin away at how great things were. The girl just wouldn't shut up! He was going to have to go back to the drawing board to figure out some way to get a little peace and quiet. Sure, sometimes it was lonely in his line of work...but quiet HAD to be better than this.
"Cheer? I've been playing for eons, it doesn't really excite me all that much these days. Having to walk somewhere would bring more suprise than flying over some city..." Sure, the lights and sounds were kinda nice, given that most of the worlds he was forced sent to were not very technologically advanced, much like Aithee's home world, but he could make better light shows himself.
He began soaring over the skyline, heading for perhaps a small park or something. She was excited to see new things, but he was sure that the excitement of a park wouldn't cause the overestaticness that he came to know and "love".
Seeing a small, closed park in the center of the town, he landed on a gentle rolling hill. He set her down soflty, before pulling his legs up underneath him to float in the air, his legs indian style. "This is a park. It contains trees and plants and maybe a couple animals, so feel free to explore around. Just don't kill anything or destroy anything..."
He had to admit, deep down inside there was little part of him that enjoyed seeing someone so excited over something to simple as a new world. Zeke sure was like that back when he first started world-hopping. Something so innocent and prestine about the way her eyes lit up.
And the fact that she was cute didn't factor into it at all.
No, not at all.
Not a bit.

((This goes beyond 'longer than I expected to write.' I blame.. well I blame American Idol blaring from the living room with all of its horrid 'contestants' and making my brain hurt, thusly leaving me to remember what the heck I was writing. Then I started tangenting all over the place until I got this. ))
"What, seriously?" she asked incredulously, giving him a right stare. Eons? He had mentioned he was old and had been doing his job for a 'really long time', but eons? That was thousands, no billions of millennia shoved together or something. It was a number she couldn't fully comprehend, and the daunting realization of his seemingly endless lone existence caused her lips to further turn down into a contemplative frown. She supposed that did give him grounds to be disinterested with the world..
And just like that, she dismissed that path of thoughts, reviving her ever-eager grin. "Well, then, Mr. Forever, maybe y'should walk some more and find the things that interest you again!" Because, seriously, a world with no excitement was not a world to live in. She nodded to herself, giving him another poke and a wide, toothy grin.
Without bothering to give her a retort of some kind, Zeke started off traveling again, coasting through the sky. Aithee didn't spend a second's time wondering why he chose not to reply, as the feel of the wind on her once again was just too special. It was like she a bird herself! The temptation to extend her arms out like wings was very, very enticing, but then she would've smacked Zeke in the face. And since he was her source of her current predicament, she didn't really feel like being dropped, by accident or otherwise.
So instead she opted for opening her mouth in an outrageously huge grin of sorts, trying to catch the wind in her mouth. She wanted to feel the experience of being suspended in the air as much as possible, and if having her mouth agape wildly would add to her experience, then she wasn't about to not do it.
All too soon they (or she, technically speaking) touched down on the ground in a place that was far less populated with the world's 'personality' as she'd call it. There were no looming buildings before her, no strange moving boxes, and there were only a few lampposts to dot minimal light across the nearby landscape of wildlife. Immediately she started to walk off and explore the area. It was so weird to her that such a place would be located within such a robust and cluttered city.
Pausing and turning when he spoke, Aithee almost chided him again for his lack of enthusiasm. She just could not understand how there could be nothing in the universe that he seemed to have some amount of interest in. There had to've been something, otherwise why did he continue on with his life?
But she let him be anti-happy. It was his loss to miss out on the little joys in life. With a delicate sniff and an upturn of her nose, she grinned cheekily before meandering off away from his floating form.
She didn’t bounce around to the park’s edges as she would have done in other locations, and instead slowly coasted around to the different trees and plant life, studying the similarities and differences from the vegetation from her world. She felt... subdued. In a good way.
Standing in the quaint park reminded her of her homeland somewhat, so quiet and calm. It was a bit brighter with all of the lights from the surrounding buildings (She couldn't imagine the amount of gas they had to burn to keep everything lit.), but the denser collection of trees, shrubbery and the (mostly) untouched land were definite characteristics that both places shared. She hadn't even realized she missed her home, if just a tiny bit, in the last few hours of travel.
Running amuck in such a place would not stand, not that evening. It felt wrong, defiling.
That park, that patch of nature was too.. too, well, nice, if she had to place a word on it, to be jumping around and energetic. Instead, Aithee sucked in a large breath, extending her arms out straight at her sides, and let it out slowly. The air there was crisper, and fresher away from the smelly odors from the city. For a moment she just stood there, basking in the quasi-wilderness, her inquisitive and incessant thoughts and questions of this new world gone from her thoughts, quieted by the serene atmosphere around her. And then, slowly, a soft, purely happy smile found its way to her lip as she tilted her head back to gaze up at the stars in the sky. Without realizing it, she began humming to herself, a lullaby she had long since heard from when she was still a child.
Spinning slowly around with her arms still outstretched, Aithee wished he could see the beauty in such small things again. Happiness made things better, after all.

Zeke was simply amazed that something as simple as a park could amaze her as much as it was. He rarely even LOOKED at wildlife, let alone let it totally absorb his attention as it was with Aithee. Every once and a while he would notice a strange creature never seen before, but after all the types of creatures he had seen over the countless years, everything looked like something else, or a simple combination of animals, or even plants. Things just blended together, they didn't stand out like they obviously were with Aithee.
He had ignored her earilier inquieres, mostly just because he actually didn't know how to answer. After all he had seen or done, how COULD things be exciting. All he ever did was just move from dimension to dimension, rarely sticking around to get to know people, and when he did get close to someone he had to up and leave soon after.
Sitting down on top of the hill, he picked up a stick and began to poke around at a pile of dirt, trying to occupy his time. From afar, it was quiet depressing to see, but really he just didn't know what else to do. Again, things just seemed dull. There was no point getting used to anything, getting excited with anything, when all he had to do was up and leave later. He'd have to leave this planet soon...what was the point of even trying?

There were so many sparkling dots in the sky, glittering just for her. Or so she felt. Because, really, how could anyone within the day-bright city see them? She gave up counting them long ago, instead trying to make out constellations in their unfamiliar pattern. Ooh, there was a dog! And a... a furry critter-thing!
Letting out a small giggle, Aithee, shoved her hands in the pockets of her pants, grinning to herself as she made up her own ideas of which stars went with each other. This was brilliantly fun. She could spend hours lying in the grass plotting up various shapes within the night sky. Of course, she was sure the activity would be far more entertaining with someone else, because then she'd get to hear of what the other person found in the world above them. Unfortunately her only current companion seemed to care little for such a simple entertainment, let along everything else it seemed.
What was he up to, anyway? Turning around, Aithee was mildly surprised that he had moved elsewhere from his floating perch. With his 'life is boring' attitude, she had been expecting him to remain stationary. So.. where had he gotten to? Glancing around for a moment, she spotted him sitting (on actual ground!), poking away at some dirt.
He looked.... utterly miserable, as if doing nothing in a park was torture for him. Well, why the hell did he bring her there in the first place? Aithee was only dimly reminded in the back of her mind that she had told him to take her places, but she quickly dismissed the memory. Sure, she enjoyed the tiny bit of environment she currently stood in, but there were tons of other places he could've taken her to first, one's that he didn't overtly dislike so much.
Huffing in annoyance, she marched up to him, her footfalls hard on the grass-covered ground. Reaching his currently shorter form, Aithee bent over at her waist, hand poised at either side at her hips, and glared at him from partially squinting eyes. Her mouth was contorted into a hard frown as she scrutinized him, trying to understand his detachment with life as a whole.
And maybe to rile him up a bit, if someone glaring at him even bothered him.

Without even looking up, the small stick that had previously been poking into a mound of flicked up, his hand jabbing it softly towards Aithee. His eyes never moved from the small pile of dirt as the stick lightly landed on her nose. "Boop" he let out upon contact, unwavering. Raising up to glance towards the girl, he could see the glaring look turned into a wide-eyed stare of shock. This sudden change brought on a fit of laughter to the red-haired "boy". Flying back onto his back, he rolled down the hill as he giggled madly, rolling to his feet at the bottom of the hill. "God, I just HATE it when people stare at me like that..." he squeaked out, his voice crackling a bit with laughter. "It makes me..." he attempted to explain, snickering a bit, "laugh too much!"
He turned to face away from the blonde, regaining his composure before spinning around again. "So don't do that..." his face was once more stoic, uncaring, as he looked up the hill towards the girl. She still seemed confused by his sudden, and uncharacteristic as far as she knew, actions. However, as Zeke stared her down more the sight of her glare returned in his mind, sending him once more down onto the ground in a fit of giggles.
