I tried this last time, it didn't post, so here goes again. Anyone listen to some Pain of Salvation? Anotehr great prog band from sweden. All their albums are concept albums(think Dream theater Metropolis Pt. 2). Very good, very thought out. Maybe a few of you know of them, but have any of you heard their most recent album?

New album leaked. Haven't listened to it, but I heard it sucks. I will try to remain optimistic, though.

most of the times leaked albums suck.
many times because their are not ready yet. or because its a new sounds and people must learn to listen to it.

Scarsick leaked?... I never totally understood how that even happens, I mean, albums leaking. Aren't they under progress in some shady studio somewhere, and only the band and a selected few are able to hear it?.. so who leaks it? Sucks anyway when it happens. Takes some of the joy off of buying new albums. confused

Anyway, I love PoS. It's been my favourite band since 1999 straight. To me, PoS is the physical manifestation of everything I want from music: creativity, depth, good vocals and lyrics, and that original approach to things.

I actually think that it is all those things that drive some people away from PoS that are attracting me. rolleyes

But yeah, a great band! I find good things of all their albums and usually the things are different so it makes every album different and yet the same. The problem with many bands is that they either repeat themselves too much, or then their style is hard to grasp because of too much variation.

Entropia and One Hour by the Concrete Lake are still my two favourite albums by the band. They have that *something*. whee

Of course the other albums are brilliant as well, but I basically grew up to progressive metal with those two albums so they hold a keen spot in my heart. Kindda like with many people and Helloween's Keeper of the Seven Keys.

Anyway, if POS is coming to play a concert near your place, you'd be well of getting to know Perfect element Pt1 (especially song "Used" which they play almost everytime) and probably stuff from Scarsick.

Oh, I ordered Scarsick from a local online store. Should arrive this week!! whee

whee

Received my Scarsick yeasterday! Huzzah!! Now my POS collection is complete once again! xd

The album itself was quite different from anything previously made by POS. I mean, you can still clearly pick up the POS-part from there but the approach is different in many ways.
Can't say I'm the biggest fan of this album - yet anyway - but there are already some tracks that I like very, very much.

I'll post a better review once I've had some time to listen to it more. 3nodding

Okay, now some thoughts about Scarsick.

I got the album already like a month ago so I've had a good listen at it. In fact, the album is so damned good it's pretty much the only thing I've listened to during the whole month! On the record: I listen to music a lot.

The album features more aggressive POS than is usually known. In the first few tracks there's a lot of speech vocals which kind of sucked at first but with time I got used to it and now I actually enjoy it a lot. The songs have a lot of attitude and a good theme mostly. And of course Daniel Gildenlöw's lyrics add a lot of depth to the whole thing.

Besides the first few tracks, the album is pretty consistent POS, though harder, heavier and darker. The themes, though quite down to earth (opposed to BE), are dark and give a grim picture of our world.

My favourite tracks on this album are pretty much "Disco Queen" and "Flame to the moth".

Disco Queen will take a lot of time to get used to. It seems a "silly" song at first but once you really get into it and start to comprehend the theme, it really gets to you. The disco beats and stuff that first seemed humorous turn into something else completely.

Flame to the Moth then is just a typical POS song. It's possibly the most familiar song of the whole album in terms of style and it also features the most structured song writing.

Also a new favourite is Idiocracy which I didn't like so much at first but nowadays the chorus just gives me the chills!!

---

Okay, that's my thoughts.. in short. biggrin

I listened too for a couple of times.
I love the opening songs, but the further the playlist it going the less i like it.
Seem to me that the album is getting weaker by the song, but thats only my opinion.
The tittlesong "Scarsick" is my favorite song 3nodding
