I guess this is where I should post...and I haven't in a while, so...here goes~...
For quite a while my only real goal in life has been to finish my works of fiction...however...lack of real motivation has kept the fiction and characters within my mind, showing me bits of my subconscious. From time to time it bugs me. I feel that I have not found my purpose. I can't find a true devotion to any one of the many crafts I study and pursue, magickal or mundane. Part of me thinks I must find a reading of some sort, part of me thinks I'm just overall too lazy to commit to something, part of me is trying to find the stimulus that will unlock the door that begins my path--and part is telling me that things like this just take time.
Which do you think? I feel despair at questioning times like these...

Assuming you're still a teenager, of which I don't really know, but since a majority of the guild is, I'll assume you are; you've got the rest of your life to figure out your purpose. Yeah, it'd be nice if we were all born knowing exactly why we're here, but no such luck. As a teenager myself, I know firsthand that many teenagers go through a phase of unmotivated laziness. You'll get out of it. You're still at a point in your life where it can many ways.

Yes, don't worry about it. Anything you are truly motivated to do, life's purpose sort of work, won't be as work at all to you. You may not find it yet, but I bet there is something out there that clicks with you, that you are drawn to, and energizes you to just be around and do.

Also you can always consider reading some kind of religious writing. I had always been drawn to the Bible and other works - perhaps that would help?

CS Lewis, if you're drawn that way. He's written other stuff besides Narnia. I...have The Great Divorce and The Screwtape Letters, but I have yet to read them. There are a few books of more importance and...interest that I need to read first. Spiritual guidance isn't high on my list.

I have the Problem of Pain, and the man is a genius.
