This land of souls serves as both a parallel to the beauty of heaven and earth, as well as its mirror to the bloodshed and death.
It comprises of four main regions and is surrounded and leads to other lands, occasionally visited by Shinigami.
Some areas are too dangerous and are only open to certain Shinigami deemed proficient enough to handle themselves, while others provide safe havens for all to enjoy. There are inhabitants here, spirits and creatures alike who rarely mingle with the Shinigami.
