After the Anime…
For years Soul Society flourished. It had been through terrible events in the past, but now everything had been rebuilt. The glory of Soul Society had been restored.
Still, the captains remained on alert. There was the ever looming threat of Aizen. The silence was comforting and disturbing at the same time. Was Aizen taking this time to plan something? Or was he just gone for now? No one knew, nor could they even guess.
That was when the Mortal Realm became uneasy. There was a steady increase of Hollows. It wasn’t anything too peculiar at first. More and more Shinigami were stationed in the Mortal World to make up for the increase. However, the more their numbers grew, the more worried the captains got. Was this part of some greater plan? A few captains and vice captains were sent to investigate.
Then, with all the Shinigami split between the Mortal Realm and Soul Society, Aizen attacked.
Both the Mortal Realm and Soul Society was struck at once. His army was made up of creatures nobody had ever seen before. They were like Shinigami… only their faces were covered in hollow masks that grinned evilly no matter what.
Arrancar.
Hollows broke out of Hueco Mundo with the mysterious new villains. They came to both worlds, but the mass majority of them attacked the Mortal Realm where the newer Shinigami had been stationed.
The attack was over almost as soon at it had begun.
The numbers of Hollows in the Mortal Realm remained high, demanding that Shinigami still remain despite the terrible events. There were very few Shinigami even left at all. All of the captains and vice captains that went to the Mortal Realm either died or were seriously injured, due to their usual power limitations. There hadn’t been enough time to grant anyone their full power.
The fourth squad was overwhelmed with requests and many died just waiting to be tended to. The death toll was terrible. The amount of captains that had been lost was shocking. No one had expected this to happen. No one could have seen it coming. So much power… so much destruction… all in one horrible blow. Soul Society despaired.
This was 1,300 ((13)) years ago. Many members of today’s Soul Society were only kids at the time.
The school was one of the first things to be rebuilt. They had to establish more Shinigami to take the place of those they had lost.
-Present Day Soul Society-
The threat remains. There have been small attacks from what seem to be weaker versions of the things that attacked many years ago. The small attacks tend to be localized to Seretei, the inner layer of Soul Society. Due to the localization, these attacks have been kept relatively secret. Morale is very hard to find in such a difficult time. If news of the attack got out, all of Soul Society would return to terror and despair.
The numbers of Hollows in the Mortal Realm have not increased… nor have they gone down. For years, many Shinigami have been sent there to keep the peace. It’s become extremely typical for these Shinigami to find permanent residence of their own, living lives as regular mortals until they are needed. Because of this, cultural awareness has become slightly more common. Their reports are filed in the library for reference, though many find pleasure in reading them for simple enjoyment.

Aizen’s base is said to still be in Hueco Mundo. To the advantage of Soul Society, many of the current Shinigami have not seen Aizen or his sword. Therefore, Aizen’s Zanpakutou does not have much power here for the moment. Determined not to let anything like the terrible attack 1,300 year ago happen again, a small team of researchers old and new have come together to form a plan. Their idea is that a direct attack to Aizen’s base would be the most effective. Not to mention, it would also be the most unexpected. However, venturing through Hueco Mundo would be no easy task, by any means.
Many issues have arisen with this plan. Just getting into Hueco Mundo proves to be problematic. Also, massive increases in the Hollow Elimination Technology must be made so that the Hollows that reside in this world can be destroyed easily, saving energy to fight Aizen himself. Stealth is another area being approached. How does one remain invisible in Hueco Mundo? And then… if anyone can get to Aizen at all… how does one bring down someone as powerful as him?
At the moment, a gate into Hueco Mundo is being finished up. It will not be tested or even set up until all the other issues have been solved. Advances in the Hollow Elimination Technology are being made at rapid rates, supplying some Shinigami with varying new technology. However, these advances currently remain to small to take on anything outside of regular activities. It has been decided, however, that these machines also effect the Hollow Shinigami. This makes any small advancement a large one for everyday life.
Until the day that attacking Aizen’s base becomes possible, life in Soul Society is a simple matter of buying time and keeping the current attacks under wraps.

-How this relates to some of the current RPG characters-
Okay… The big attack happened BEFORE the “Past” area of the RPG. This means that anyone in school in the “Past” forum was probably around 6 or 7 at the time of the attack. Anyone who is to die, due to back story reasons, could NOT have died in the big attack if they died after their schooling. This means that one of the smaller, but still powerful, attacks from a Hollow or Hollow Shinigami would be the cause. If it is a Hollow Shinigami attack, it MUST have taken place in Seretei. To have happened anywhere else, the attacker must be a normal Hollow.
-ALSO- Yes, there were Menos in the big attack. NO they are not still attacking. REGULAR Hollows. Powerful ones, sure, but regular ones none the less. The Menos will be saved for later in the storyline… closer to the Aizen base invasion.
YES, this does mean that a new place for characters has been created. You can now audition for a place as a Researcher, just like you can audition for a place as a Captain or Vice Captain. If you would like to make a Researcher, please PM me your profile and an RP sample and wait for approval.

Also, a number limitation on how many of these ‘toys’ you can have will be specified. You may NOT magically create your own technology. You may NOT own more ‘toys’ than the number specified.
