Okay, so I was reading through a lot of the older threads. It seems that a lot of us tend to drag off and talk about school or our plans for college. So we don't keep going off topics in other threads, I thought this would be a good idea. Please come HERE and discuss your goals and plans for your future life (as scary as that sounds). I know we have a lot of younglings in this thread...but they are welcomed to come in here and talk about just school in general if they would like.
Those Accepted I'll be placing the names of those who have been accepted! Just to congratulate them! heart Please let me know if you have been! <3

Desired Colleges I'll post some colleges people want to go to. Maybe if someone wants to go to the same, you guys can meet there. Maybe room there! Fun ne? ^o^
De Anza College - My choice! It's a two year college, a JC too. It is cheaper than a UC or State...and probably the only kind that will accept me right now.
San Francisco State - My dream college IN California. This isn't my main one. They have a creative writing program that is VERY difficult to get into. I need to work hard during my JC classes to probably get a chance to be accepted.
Washington State University - My dream college. Ha, I don't think I'll ever get here, but I can dream. It's way too much money since I'm out of state. *sighs* I'll still apply though, just too see. <3
University of Pacific - Britt's college of choice! Good luck Britt-chan! >w<

So...I guess I'll go first? =D I'm planning on going to a JC (Junior College) because there is no way my grades qualify me for a UC. Hahaha. But I shall transfer after two years to a CSU or State college. Mostly likely SFS. I really want to go there. Not to mention it would be easy since...my friend is going there and we could rent an apartment together or something. I really am not ready to live on my own yet...I need someone there with me. lol. I'm such a child. But yes...for me I plan to major in some sort of writing. I want to do Creative Writing since I'm writing like two books...but I can't find a JC that offers that as a major. I see it as an elective in plenty of places...so I just might major in whatever they offer and take Creative Writing as an elective. I dunno...sound good? And then I wanted to minor in Japanese. *nods*

I'd like to be second then~ 8DD Well, I've only started High School, here in Canada. I think it's the second year of Middle School in the States. Well, so far it's okay. It's weird being the youngest grade in the school... Anymoose, at my school I'm in a program called CRAtic. It means that we use laptops instead of writting paper and pencil all the time. It's really fun. I don't get as many papercuts, lol.
Lesse...Hmm...Well, in the future I plan to do either engineering or something in the arts department. Ehh...and sometime in my life I want to learn Korean, Thai and Japanese. xD; I'm learning Japanese by myself, but it's pretty complicated.
Oh! Let's be random and talk about the past. 8D I used to want to become a vet or a doctor before, but now it changed. I'm sure it will again since I still have a lot of years ahead of me. Currently, I was thinking taking a career in music, because it rocks. Maybe a singer. But, yeah, I doubt it with my talent, more lack of talent. My friends say I should be a model. I think I'll rethink that...xD;; Well, all in all, I want to live a successful life with a nice job and good pay. Hey, do you think they pay good money for stalking idols?

I must ask...is there anyone that did not want to be a vetenarian in their lifetime? xD I think all my friends have confessed they wanted to be one at some point. Lol. When I was younger I wanted to do the same thing. Lol. Then I read and all...so yeah, I wanted to continue writing. <3 Gin-chan, don't worry that you're the youngest. You'll soon grown up and joins us =D heart But anyway, I think almost everyone here wants to learn a language, ne? I know I want to learn a lot. Ganbatte minna! ^o^

I never wanted to be a vet! I always thought that I would have to kill animals. :'(
Actually, I wanted to be a teacher when I was young. Young as in, third grade and younger. But the most persistent career I've thought about is writing - being a novelist or journalist. That idea was pretty much shot to hell last year, since I'm not as good a writer as I used to think I was. So yeah, I've given up on that. I've toyed with the idea of lawyer or graphic/web design, but not seriously. I currently have no clue as to what I want to do in my life. D:
I'm a junior in high school right now. I plan on going to a UC, hopefully Davis? But my grades this year aren't so hot. The first quarter, I got the lowest GPA I've ever received in my life. D: That, and I don't have any extracurriculars. I do, however, have 200+ hours of community service under my belt. :3

Community service...ew. To be honest, if that were not a requirement, I would have never done it. Hahaha. xD I'm THAT lazy. I did some though. It wasn't bad, I just don't like doing it all too much. Especially when it isn't something fun. I think I did only one or two fun things and the rest were all like x.X Yeah...annoying. Lol. But I got them done, a good 50 hours. =DD I know, I'm a loser compared to some of you huh? xDD

I did community service over the summer for 75 hours, and last summer for 40 (watching over bratty little kids and playing games with them for 6 hours a day). And then there's all the other random stuff I have done. My school has these benchmark projects, so in freshman year, in order to pass the project, you had to have at least 10 hours done. The stupid teacher I turned my hours into lost 9 of my 19 hours...dunno how that happened. :C
I'm also part of my school's Interact, Red Cross and Service Learning, though I haven't done that much stuff for them. I joined a bunch of clubs this year after doing absolutely nothing for the past two. D: ((I'm also in the Harry Potter Club! SLYTHERIN! I'm trying to become a Prefect/club officer XD))

Whoo, I guess I shall post. For the record, I like animals, but I never wanted to be a vet. xd
Well, I already know I'm going to be a writer, but that's on the side. Since I don't trust the public enough to be confident I can survive solely on my writing, all the other ideas I have and have had in the past are to support me as I do so.
I've gone through a million things, but I've settled on a few lately. The biggest one is being a Japanese translator. Possibly translating books from Japanese to English or whatnot... I really like translating. So something like that. If not, something to do with Japanese, though hopefully not a teacher. I never wanted to be a teacher.
The other thing is something that, ya know, actually has to DO with writing (that makes sense, ne? xP). Probably an editor. I took journalism and hated it, so that's out of the question. But I think being an editor would be a lot of fun.
And, if all else fails, I will be a graphic designer like my mom, since I'm already good at that.
As for colleges, I'm still looking. I know I'm heading back to Japan after high school to study, though I'm starting to think 6 months would be better than a year. Not to mention cheaper. I don't think my mom can handle me being away for a year. xd When I come back, though, I'm planning on going to college somewhere in America... though I have no idea how the hell I'll get the money for that. Hmm. Anyway, I've been looking into different colleges recently, but only a couple have struck my fancy... though I'm not sure they're what I'm looking for. Oh well, I'll keep looking. <3

Cy, that's a lot of community service. D: I don't think I'd be able to handle it. Lol. Especially watching a BUNCH of little kids. I can barely stand being around three or four. Hahaha. xd I did...let me try and remember...I know I did jury duty. Not because I was in trouble before or anything, I just did it because it was easy, not to mention, they came to our school and just...picked our class to do it. Lol. Also, I remember having to take pictures at this big competition thing. o.o;;; I can't remember all too well. It was during my Freshman and Sophmore year.
As for in the future. I did say I want to become a novelist, ne? I don't think I did. But yes, that's what I want to become. I don't do so well in regular school English, so when people hear that I want to become a writer, they tell me it's impossible. It's not that I am TERRIBLE at writing (though at time I hate my work), it's just I don't like the type of stuff we have to do in the school. Like all the Philosophy stuff we just did...it killed me. If it weren't for Pixi I would have failed the unit. Badly. Lots of people say my writing is good. However, when I compare it to other people, I just have to laugh at my own. I know that isn't good, to think less of my works, it's just...how I am. I feel that I can't reach their level. *shrugs* I want to write though. It's my passion. But anyway~no more rambling for me.
Oh and if the whole novelist thing doesn't work out, I have no idea what I want to do. =D

It's not bad to think less of your own work. I do it too. The story I sent you? I despise it. I love the characters, I put months into developing them, but I hate my writing. I don't think I've ever written anything I liked, except for a drabble here or there. Which I'm not posting because I don't share my crappiness with anyone. =D heart Anyway, you're not the only one. An artist is their own worst critic, ne. That's why it's good to have outside sources tell you if you suck or not. XD

Oooh. Kazu told me to post in here, so I will. ;D
Right now I'm a freshman in high school; bottom of the food chain pretty much, though it seems a lot of people think I'm older...weird. xD; I've gotten that like five times so far this year. Eh well.
Anyway, I'm not very athletic or in too many extracurricular things, so I hope I can get in good with colleges with doing a ton of community service or scholarships and such. :3 It's required to do 20 hours for freshmen and sophomores and 25 for juniors and seniors. So far, I have 35, and I hope to get way more since it's almost half-way through the year. XD
Hehe. One of those shiny awards would be cool, too. <3 Oh, and I'll probably do more over summer. Since I don't think the Japanese exchange students are going to summer school at my school...some other ones. >_> Though I might go anyway to get some requirements, but it'll still suck. xD
Ideally, I'd like to go to UOP, but if I can't manage that financially or don't get accepted at first, I'll go to JC. :3 I'm not sure which one, but I know I probably will go to a JC first and then transfer over to UOP after a couple of years. :]
Actually, I never wanted to be a vet. xD The closest things to that that I've thought about in my younger days were being a doctor or a marine biologist. Right now I'm thinking pharmacist or orthodontist, but I'm leaning towards pharmacy. UOP has a six year pharmacy program that I hope to do. :3
Hopefully I can keep up my good grades until then, too. xDDD;;; *sweat* x______x

A college thread... cool!
Well yes I did get accepted to two colleges. My mom insists that I got into a third college that I applied for but I didn't see the acceptance letter for it. But it does seem like I did get accepted because they've been giving me all of this stuff. Thing of it is, although I definitely have colleges to go to I'm still in the the nervous waiting process. I'm waiting for my acceptance into the honors college in USC (University of South Carolina), the college I got accepted to already. I want to be in the honors college so that even though I'm in a big college, I still get the small college education where the teachers actually know your name and can teach you on an individual basis. That's the ideal environment I want in a college. So all I can do it hope and pray about it! >w<
I'm really hoping that although my SAT scores aren't all that great that my grades, class rank/GPA (I haven't checked lately but I'm in the top 20 of my class for sure), the AP classes I'm taking, and my loads of extracurricular activites (I used to be bogged down with so many afterschool activities it nearly killed me x.X) will be taken into consideration.
As for community service, I did a lot of tutoring and stuff with the Beta Club and other random stuff like helping out the hospital. I've also shadowed in the heart center of the hospital and I'm definitely considering the medical field. Not a vet though so I'm an exception. (The cats would make me itch badly.) I did want to be a pediatrician and I'm still considering that, but I also would love to do something that involved medicine and traveling. Mom says that I could be a nurse (or doctor) to do that. That would be great.
I'm definitely excited about going to college. I want to finally feel more independent and to find out if I'm really ready for the real world away from my parents. I don't want to be to far away from them, but still want to experience independence. That and I can finally meet guys without my parents breathing down my neck. XD You never know, there may be a guy who looks and acts like Junno there.... in my Japanese class that I hope to take.... oh yeah, I'm VERY excited about going to college. ^_^

Okay let me post as a current college student...And for the record, when I was younger I wanted to be a singer. But I thought vets were cool.
Past: Well my High school was a trade school as well, so I was in Carpentry for four years. I learned how to design and construct houses/offices, paint, some electrical and plumbing work, etc. I planned on going to college for that and architecture, and my brother, who went to school for masonary and electrian, were going to start our own business. But once I entered the 12th and started taking spainsh I became interest in Language and How language work. I decided that I would become a translator/interpreter. I got accepted into 5 colleges (Morgan University, Coppin, Frostburg, UMES, and York) and I choose none of them.
Now: I'm in a JC right now. -Kinda weird though, my JC functions on a University level.- I mean my grades were great and I ranked 8 out of 188 in high school but I lack focus. I don't study or do homework so why pay 10,000-35,000 to attend a college that I'm going to fail. I entered the JC majoring in Interpreter Prep, but that only focus on sign language, so I changed it to Foreign Language. I'm going into my second semester of my Freshman year, and I will take Spainsh and Chinese (probably). Next year I will contiune those two and also take Japanese and Italian (probably). I'm still kinda bad at the doing homework and studying thing. I get distracted way to easily and way more than before. Its way harder than I expected and I put to much on my shoulders while I was in my first semseter. -Please do your work as soon as you get it.-
Future: I'm transfering to University of Maryland College Park (UMCP) in the spring of 2008 (probably). I might go there fall of 2007. I will double major there in Lingustic and Pre-med. I plan to become a medical interpreter in whatever language I'm capable of speaking fluently, and a Neurologist. Once I enter my Junior year I will become an exchange student at either Tokyo University of Meiji University. -Yes I am working on that now. Contacts are great. XD-
I don't think that I'm in a position to give advice but seeing as though I am attending college now feel free to ask me anything. Just have fun, but after your work is done, unlike me.
