I like to think of this place as the dwelling of the geeky upon what game or movie had the most accurate mythology based plot. (Any mythology) As in you rate games or movies that have some form of mythology in them so other members can check them out if they want to.

I recently started playing God of War and it had a lot of stuff based on Greek mythology (And I'm pretty sure not -just- Greek) You spend most of the game looking for Pandora's Box to kill Aries (The god of War) because he started to attack Athens to spite his father in choosing Athena. Anywho I don't know if they made this up or not because I don't know much about Greek mythology.... but they had a lot of mythology based things in there, Sirens, Gorgans, Minotaurs (Lots... and lots... of minotaurs...), and a hell of a lot of demons, even though you end up killing them, there were other creatures that weren't hostile... like the Nyads, umm... the gods of olympus all gave you some neat spells (Hades Army is my favourite ^_^) ... except Artemis who gives you a really big sword, the one she used to aparrently kill a Titan.... the game even includes the Greek's sexual habbits as at the start of the game you immediately meet two nude women who want to... you know... (Except the gay people for some reason xd )

Anywho I found this game enjoyable because Krato's story was believable and yet interesting, plus the music was cool. I rate this game 8/10 (1 point because nothing is perfect and the other because at one point in the game Aries god-modes after you spend hours trying to find the damn box and he kills you!! It made me so mad.... plus I feel bad for tearing off the architect's family's skulls off and using them as keys. domokun )

Gorgons? I only remember there being three gorgons in Greek mythology, and Medusa was the only one that wasn't immortal. o_O

As I said most likely not completely accurate, especially since you basicly tear off Medusa's head to help kill the minotaur's.

They did the movie the Oddyssey very close to the book. So it was very very mythology related.

God of War (game) wasn't the sharpest tool in the shead but good story though. What do you think of God of War?

Yes, God of War is by far my favorite game. The graphics and fighting style are amazing and it makes Greek Mythology really fun to learn. It's incredibly realistic and very accurate. Also, the plot and story is entertaining.
The minotaurs...make me mad. Basically because they're hard to kill. When (O) appears over their heads, I can't mash the button fast enough to kill them. If I don't have any magic or Rage of the Gods when I meet one (or two) I run away. As for spells, Medusa's Gaze is my favorite. Basically because it is satisfying to smash a stone enemy.
The only time I felt bad about killing humans was in Poseidon's challange when you have to burn the soldier. Probably because he keeps pleading with you and begging you to save his life. And yet... He's the only human that doesn't give you health when he dies. confused

I dont know if anybody has ever played it but I have a game for the pc called Age of Mythology and Age of Mythology Titans expansion. I dont know how accurate the caimpaigns are because in one there is a man I've never heard of called Arkantos. However it is a really fun game and has a special program dedicated entirely to accurate mythology. It is really cool.

I've seen it on the shelves, but I stil think that Age of Empires still kicks it's head off.

^^ Iris was also a messenger goddess - she answered more to Hera; Hermes answered to Zeus.

Ya... 'cause I think the story goes that Perseus cuts off Medusa's head while looking at her in a shiny, mirrorlike sheild (to avoid being turned into stone), and then took the head to the shore where his love was tied up in chains as a sacrifice to the hydra. Perseus showed the hydra the gorgon's head, turned the beast to stone, and saved his girl.

Of course, I get the name Perseus mixed up with another P-named-hero, I think Pericles. One P-named-hero fought Medusa and the hyrda, while the other was actually the one to go to King Minos in Crete and face the Minotaur in the Labrynth. So, ya... the stories are kind-of mixed together...huh... games are weird that way...

Also, funny fact, Pegasus is actually Medusa's offspring... he came forth out of her neck after her head was severed, and then later had a few good times with Belephron fighting the Chimera and such. God...all these stories are meshing together in my head... gack! gonk

Sorry for rambling.... sweatdrop
