I have wondered this for a long time. . I think there is a link.. It's all chemical inbalences, isn't it? My bipolar ex was bi when I dating him, and gay (I think, I don't know the story) when he left me.. Also, I'm bipolar and bisexual.

Sometimes I wonder if there is a link between being Jewish and having bipolar disorder, since I know a lot of bipolar Jews (my mother in law, my friend Tamar, etc.) I think it's all just coincidence.
Or maybe, straight people who have homosexual or bisexual tendencies seem more likely to act on them when manic...

Linking religion and a mental illness is rediculous. Sexuality? Whoever it was that said they thought they started to swing around the time they were diagnosed...chances are you had a lot going on in your life. Maybe your feelings were running on overdrive and you were suddenly "realizing" that you had this new part of you. Maybe you just needed a hug...but chanelled it in to sexuality.

hanalee UMM.. that doesn't really make sense. I think that as a minority, homo/bisexual people feel more pressure than the average person and are therefore more likely to fall into a bipolar state. The link is not in the "hormonal imbalances", but in the common stress and oppression felt by these people. Conan The Barbie Doll But that doesn't necessarily mean that stress and pressure can trigger Bipolar, unless it is situational, which is relatively rare.

Bipolar is a chemical imbalance, but I'm pretty sure homosexuality isn't a chemical imbalance. I think GBLT people were just sort of "wired" that way...I'm not sure if there's a link between the two, but I can check. Google is my friend. xd

I think that bipolar and bisexual may have a link, because most of my bipolar friends are bisexual. But i was thinking about it, and bi means two, so maybe we associate one sex to our manic episodes , and the other to our depressive. Like maybe because so many are very unstable and feel as if because of this we are unloved, and because there is a possibility that both a man and woman willl offer love to us, we're willing to take it, no?
