To be honest, I've only come up with two nen abilities that are anywhere near plausible, and both are horrifically cliched. T.T

ok since i started this topic im gonna post my ability and rid the hostility in here...here we go =DD
My Nen nature would belong to the Gugenka group. I will always keep a special coin that is specially made; on the coin there will be intricate designs and carvings. My ability will be mostly enlarging this coin for specific uses (which uses abilities from the Sousa group as well):
Transfigure; change it to any kind of coin that I would need.
Mace; I can lengthen the width of this coin and create spikes from the carvings, creating a mace for attack purposes.
Staff-Mace; this is a longer version of the previous ability, only it is double sided for attack purposes.
Shuriken; Simply by lengthening the carvings into spikes, I will be able to turn it into a shuriken for attack purposes. It will return to me alike a boomerang. It can also be enlarged in this state, and I will hold it by the carvings in this way.
Shield; enlarge it to such a degree, creating a shield for defense purposes.
Entropy; able to wrap the coin around me like a sphere for defense purposes. This ability will require a lot of concentration and Nen use, and would be used when it is allowed.
Track; by shrinking it and slipping it into the clothing of the victim, I can track where the victim is, and its bearings.
Entrapment; using In to conceal this coin, if any interloper ventures near it, its carvings will lash out and grab hold of the victim. In this same manner, it can also be used as an assault in subterfuge.
Hover; it will be able to be raised in the air at my will, and I can glide on it like a snowboard or grab on the ornate carvings as a hold if I'm falling.
well this is as much as I can think of...give me some input so that I can edit this...since I think most of these abilities cross over abilities of other groups...but then won't matter too much unless its the opposite group of my native group.

Here's my MAIN nen ability! It's for my character Yota Syris and it's LONG!
The order that they're in is the order in which Yota would obtain each ability.
Name: Density Increase, Air Pressure Type: Manipulation Description: I take at most six feet in volume of air and compress it into a little sphere, I need both hands to do this. If I use only one hand, I could only take 18 inches of air in volume. The air is constantly swirling so even I can't really touch it. As I get more powerful with this technique, I'm able to compress more air at a time and at a faster rate. Also, as I advance in this technique I'll be able to create more than two at a time and allow them to hover around me. The air spheres themselves create a lot of wind around it, when moved at high speeds, it creates huge gusts of wind. In the beginning, the fastest charge is 3 seconds and the most powerful is 1 minute. At full potential, it'll be .3 seconds for fastest, the 1 minute charge will speed up to 5 seconds, and the most powerful will still be 1 minute, but it'll be 50x more powerful than in the beginning. Restriction: I can't hold each air sphere for no longer than 1 minute.
Name: Air Blast, Wind Gust Type: Manipulation Description: I simply release the air in the direction of my target. If I used both hands, it'll release a gust of up to 300 mph, if I used only one hand it'll release a gust of up to 120 mph.
Name: Air Stream, Gale Storm Type: Manipulation Description: Similiar to Wind Gust, this time I have the air sphere in front of my and instead of release all the air at once, I release the air slowly in a small stream, creating a powerful river of wind that moves up to 200 mph. I can't manipulate the direction the wind goes but I can shift the direction simply by moving. It's a little similar to Zeno's Dragon Head but I can't control the direction.
Name: Air Flow, Wind Glide Type: Manipulation and Emission Description: I use a toned down weaker version of Air Stream to propell me in the air. I only need one hand at a time. So while one hand is propelling me, the other is charging up so when the first one runs out, the second one is ready. I can also use a weaker Wind Gust to help dodge attacks in the air.
Name: Compressed Air, Spinning Vortex Type: Manipulation Description: I keep the air close to my hand and hit it to whoever, whatever. Upon impact, the target is spun around at incredibly high speeds and is blasted away. I could only use this when using one hand. Restrictions: I can't use the following three in air tight or low oxygen areas, meaning buildings filled with smoke or tightly locked places to prevent loss of air.
Name: Air Wall, Mistral Barrier Type: Manipulation Description: I take a minimum of two air spheres and circulate them in front of me creating a wall of air that lasts for 5 seconds. I circulate them at high speeds and slowly release it as the speed picks up, which is why it only lasts for 5 seconds. The more air spheres I use, the stronger it is, but it doesn't make it last longer, only if the spheres are charged longer, which is pointless because this defense is a quick defense technique.
Name: Air Shield, Tempest Cocoon Type: Manipulation Description: I charge one air sphere for 10 seconds and release it enough so that it grows big enough to surround me. The air is then swirling around me and not inside the sphere. Moving up to speeds of 230 mph, it's able to deflect projectiles and stop most direct attacks. I can also move around in it. Restriction: It lasts for only 2 minutes and during that time, I can't create any air spheres.
Name: Air Clash, Zephyr Slash Type: Manipulation Description: I take two air spheres and clash them together, like hitting two rocks together to create a spark. In the direction I make the clash, a sharp cutting wind blasts out. It's thin and goes as far as 20 ft. Each time I do that, the air spheres get smaller. I can do it a maximum of two times with two quickly charged air spheres.
Name: Air Bomb, Explosion Type: Manipulation and Emission Description: Using both hands, I take the compressed air and immensly compress it to the point where it's only the size of a golf ball. I then shoot it to whoevers my target into their body. I finally release the air blowing them up from the inside. Restriction: I can only use this on those who've killed undescriminately. Also, as powerful as it is, it has a low success rate because the target can simply avoid it or knock it away.
Name: Big Blow, Swift Cyclone Type: Manipulation Description: I take a minimum of two air spheres and manipulate them above me. I must charge them for at least 30 seconds. I then begin to circulate them at high speeds and releasing it at the same time. This then creates a powerful tornado that I'm able to direct in any direction. Of course, I won't get blow along with it, it'll pass me (with the help of reinforcement keeping me cemented on the ground) and go as far 10 ft. minimum then weaken and disappear. The tornado at smallest is 5 ft in diameter and at largest 10 ft. Restrictions: I must have all my aura in order to use this, no more than 10 people can be present, and it must be in a deserted area with no buildings or structures that can be damaged and destroyed by it.
One last thing, some of you may wonder why I don't manipulate the direction my wind goes. It's because I'm using most of my manipulation on keeping the air compressed, I don't have enough nen to manipulate the direction of the air, which is why my Air Bomb, Explosion technique has a low chance of success.
Also, I have nen techniques for my RP character in the "A Hunter's Life V.2" forum Yota who uses a staff, so I create abilities that uses the metal staff. Also, the Mistral Barrier can be used with the staff, all I have to do is place two air spheres on the tips and allow it to spin with the staff, providing a better defense.
Name: Staff Boost, Range Hit Type: Manipulation Description: If I'm attacking with my staff and the person is at most 5 ft too far, I quickly use a small Wind Stream to propell the staff at extreme speeds towards the target. To prevent them from grabbing it or repelling it, instantly after, I use Wind Glide to grab it the moment it hits them.
Name: Air Staff, Agile Strike Type: Manipulation Description: I create an air sphere near the tip of my rod. When I attack with my staff, I release a bit of air from the sphere to change the direction the tip is going to strike where I target. I can also use the air sphere to twirl the tip in order to create a diversion and to increase power on the attack.
Name: Art of Calligraphy, Breath Type: Manipulation Description: Using one 5 second charged air sphere, I swirl it around creating the kanji for Breath, when I'm done, I breathe in the kanji and gives me a small boost of energy.
Name: Art of Calligraphy, Hasty Type: Manipulation Description: This time I create the kanji for Hasty. It then wraps around my body giving me a 30 second boost in speed. I become 1.5 times faster.
Name: Art of Calligraphy, Flutter Type: Manipulation Description: After creating the kanji for that, it becomes a swirling wind that goes to my legs and feet and gives me temporary flight for 20 seconds.
Name: Art of Calligraphy, Snail Type: Manipulation Description: After creating the kanji for snail, this time it wraps around my target and slows that person down half way for 15 seconds. Restrictions: Art of Calligraphy must only be used if necessary, for example, I can't use Fluttle unless my target is airborne, or I can't use Hasty if the enemy is slower than me.
Name: Art of Calligraphy, Precision Type: Manipulation Description: After the kanji for Precision is created, half of it breaks and one part goes to whichever target I direct it to and the other wraps around the staff. The staff then at the speed of wind attacks wherever the other half went then immediately returns.
Name: Air Pitch, Breezing Vortex Type: Manipulation Description: I put a compressed air sphere and hold it one place, I then strike it hard with my staff at my target, creating a long range version of my Spinning Vortex.
Name: Tornado Dance, Typhoon Scars Type: Manipulation Description: At minimum I create four air spheres around me. I then shift the spheres around and begin attacking them. They're not as compressed as the Vortex so they won't fly. Everytime I hit a sphere, in whatever direction my staff is attacking, a nail shaped cutting wind will come out. If the air spheres are quickly charged, I can only hit them 3 times before they disappear. Restrictions: Same apply as the first ones, certain areas it can't be done.
Name: Squall Tunnel, Black Hole Type: Manipulation Description: I charge one big air sphere and place it at the tip of the staff. It must be charged for a minute. On the tip, I slowly begin to release the wind, spinning the tip at extreme speeds, creating a powerful suction. Anything sucked in will quickly be impaled or smashed by the tip of the staff. Restrictions: All of the above restrictions.
So what do you think of my main nen ability? I know it's a lot, but because it's now my main one, I had to do it. Of course, the final ones would take years to obtain but that's how it's supposed to be. The staff abilities come around the same time as the abilities similar to it.

your Nen ability sounds plausible at parts, and some sound like naruto's Rasengan XD
i was thinking that if you're in a transformation group you would probably charge up faster with more powerful punches since it's your Nen aura that your using...however, being in transformation means that after your Nen has left your main aura, it would quickly die out as a result of not being in the emission group...but yeah i see how manipulation would work, so that was just a suggestion for increased speed and power...
for your Staff Boost, Range Hit, since you sent the staff using your Wind Stream you will have to have started traveling using your Wind Glide the moment you attack therefore making in time to retrieve your staff...problem with that is, if your attack was a failure, when you go to retrieve your staff, the staff itself is gonna be taken plus you expose yourself to danger...unless your Wind Glide travels faster than Wind Stream i dont think its a discreet ability lol...you could always travel by foot, since making air carry you would be quite cumbersome on your Nen and the speed of it would be dramatically decreased if you pack a big bulk of body mass lol but yea that also depends on your natural speed...the same goes for Art of Calligraphy, Precision...but if the other half didnt wrap around the staff and attacks by itself, id think it would really be an awesome, precision attack lol
with some of your Art of Calligraphy tho, i see a few problems...to imbue air with the properties of boosting energy or haste (strengthening your muscles?) it requires being native in the specialization/strengthening group (more likely the prior)
i didnt quite understand Squall Tunnel, Black Hole, since there are times that people have muscle strengthening abilities (ie ubogin rofl ) and i dont think a bamboo stick would be strong enough in general...the other thing is if this attack is done while the staff is in your hands, once the enemy is sucked near it grants an attack of opportunity...so yea
ur Nen ability is pretty interesting and creative in general...i especially like the Air Clash, Zephyr Slash and Air Bomb, Explosion and the idea behind Art of Calligraphy, Precision...good abilities XD

The staff is probably about 2 1/2 feet long and can extend in the places, the middle (duh) and the center of the left side and center of the right side. What makes this staff unique is that there are going to be holes in the staff in which Yota must circulate air inside of it to extend it. What makes it cool is that since he's an air manipulator, he can extend certain parts of the staff while keeping the rest retracted whenever he needs to. Also, the left and right ends of the staff are going to have ball and socket connections to it, making it possible to use air to spin the tips. But it can only bend up to 45 degrees, so impaling is still possible. As for the Art of Calligraphy sweatdrop that's just me trying to create more wink I realized that some parts of my ability sounds like Rasengan, but to tell the truth, I didn't realize that I did that after I created it. Also, someone from nexGear said some of them sounded like Avatar, in which I also didn't realized I emulated. For the Squall Tunnel, well, if you're a wise fighter, you wouldn't use it against someone with high reinforcement. 3nodding

Like I said, I didn't mean for it like that. OOO! I was just watching this Chinese movie with seven swords, don't know the title, but one of the swords had a blade that moved around the handle, so you can easily turn from a one blade to a double bladed sword. That's how I invisioned my staff sort of. I have many more nen abilities if you'd like to see what I came up with.

wen i watched hunter...its always been a problem, with other manga and anime, (like bleach) i always say if i had there power i would rule (cuz ther not so smart or good) but i thought about hunter and asked what nen ability would i want....and yea its hard thinking of one...
