I literally just finished this one, about 5 minutes ago. And it was AWESOME! I liked it much better than Wicked (to which it is the sequel) by a great deal. Though Liir, the main character, seemed a total sop in "Wicked," he really comes into his own in this book. I also thought the plot was more coherent and enjoyable. AND, there's gay characters (which is rare in a mainstream book.) Wonderful, wonderful.

I loved Son of Witch so much more than Wicked. Though the beginning was terribly slow, once it picked up, it was wonderful.

I haven't read it yet! It sits on my shelf awaiting my attentions. I got it for Christmas the year before last after I went to see Gregory Maguire when he came to visit and read from it/sign books. :] I also think the gay characters are there because Maguire's gay, most likely. Which (sadly) makes me want to read it all the more now.

But I have like, hundreds of books to read. T___T;; (Including a school one.. bleh.)

I love both Wicked and Son of a Witch. I love the fact that it isn't a big deal that there are gay characters. There are a few in Wicked as well.
I am a huge Maguire fan, and I've heard that all of his books have gay characters. *is jealous of the person that meet him*

I think someone has already said it, but Maguire is gay. His life partner is Andy Newman, I believe, an artist. They have adopted three kids together. Just in case you wanted to know...

I've met him. He's so freaking adorable. My friend said that to him when we stood up there talking to him, and he was like, "...you don't get out much, do you? sweatdrop " She's just like, "No. No, I don't."

That sounds like something I would do! I would be all like, "Oh my God, mister I love you! Please write more!" Or something along those lines anyway...

I still like Wicked better than Son Of A Witch since I just loved Elphaba so much, she's soo cool! But I did love the little traces of Nor in Son Of A Witch because I loved her in Wicked.

I liked Wicked better because of the intresting topics it presented... Son of the Witch was kind of depressing, but still enjoyable. I want him to write a third book! i want to know what happens to the baby!

Wicked and Son of a Witch both kinda aggravated me. =/ There were just so many plot holes and elements that were never resolved...
