Rae-Rae sat on her nest and looked at her room. Nothing was out of place and it looked as sterile as ever.
"I really should add more into here at some point." she thought to herself. But the big question was, "But what??"
As a chick she had very rarely strayed from Raerean's AFK, even though she knew that sometimes it really annoyed her owner. Rae had never complained though and the phoenii was sure that she actually really enjoyed having her namesake close by.
Rae was off shopping today, she had said it was too busy where she was going for Rae-Rae to come too.
She focused her attention back to her room, trying to forget the loss she felt from not being close to her owner.
"Maybe if I hadn't been so close to her as a chick, I'd have a better idea of what I would want in here?"
Sliding of the nest, her claws tucking instantly into her slippers, making her give a rare smile.
"Soft pink, white, flowers... Maybe I should add flowers to my room?" Nodding to herself, she ventured out of the roost in search of soft pink flowers.

Radience padded around the garden, trying to get used to having four paws, rather than 2 bird-feet. If the paws weren't hard enough to get used too, there was this amazingly long tail... He was glad there was only one chick in the nest at the moment, the little Femme who would remain a chick apparently. Then there was all those eggs sitting in the incubator. Rae had made mention that three of them are gryphoenii eggs, but he didnt think that would stop them from playing with his tail.
He had learnt to be careful when hugging Rae as well. He had jumped up to hug her after being transformed and had knocked her over... From that, he had also learnt that he would have to be careful with other phoenii, he didnt want to risk hurting any of the roost in any way.
He made his way to a shady spot under a tree and flopped down on the soft grass. Part of him was happy he was different, it made dancing earlier, but the other part was afraid of being rejected by the other phoenii...

Ruth was hunting for a quiet space to rest. Her life so far had definatly been interesting... Upon hatching, the only non-chick in the nest was a red phoenii by the name of Radience. Ruth liked him immediatly and took to following him around, there was almost nowhere he could go that she would not follow. He eventually stopped trying to escape her and allowed her to come berry picking with him.
Ruth was a shy teen by the time Radience reached adult stage but he almost seemed to enjoy her company more. They went out as often as possible to either gather berries or just flying around, enjoying each others company.
She knew at that point that she was slowly falling in love with him. But voicing that to him never crossed her mind.
Once she reached adult stage, she started taking better care of herself by preening a lot. One day she spotted Radience taking two of her white feathers that she had discarded, although she didnt think he had realised that she had.
She wondered for a little while why he did that but not for long.
On a day not long from that, Radience took her to a beautiful lagoon. There almost seemed to be something magical about it although she couldn't place what it was.
"I'd like to bring you here one day Ruth." He had said to her, "You mean a lot to me, and I hope you feel the same way. What I mean is... Would you like to have chicks with me?"
Ruth was dumbstruck but didnt hesitate for long before replying with a breathless, "yes".
Raerean made the arrangements with Sapphire Lazuli not long later.
Ruth bore six eggs to Radience. Although they only kept four, the other two went to another owner who promised them a good home.
The red, white and blue chicks were very bouncy and kept Ruth busy until they matured into teens.
While Ruth loved watching her chicks grow, she always wished she could be lifemated to Radience. There had been talk of it in the roost for a while after all. It didnt help that most owners already though of the two phoenii as lifemated.
One day after the chicks had become full adults, Raerean approached Ruth with a proposal.
One breeding with Brianth to get black and white chicks, then no more breedings other than with Radience will ever be asked. However, Radience would also be asked to do one more breeding before lifemating with Ruth.
It took Ruth a bit of thinking to come to agree with Raerean and she was glad she did.
Lyth announced a total of six eggs again for Ruth. All very beautiful black and white shelled.
Ruth sat down and named them with names ending with "th" since their parents both had that in their names.
Now those eggs are teens and Ruth sits, waiting for Radience to find another to breed with before she can call him her lifemate.
Even though he is now a gryphoenii, her feelings for him have only gotten stronger over time and she hopes that his for her are the same.

Rae-Rae flopped in a corner of the garden and sighed happily. She was finally starting to make friends outside of the roost, even if they were rather strange. She guessed that most phoenii might think of her as strange as well though.
She had become adult a few days ago and now she was the tallest phoenii in the roost. Something that didnt sit well with her at all. She had to admit though, she wasn't as tall as she could of been. Raerean had explained it as her being a runt. She laughed when she had been told that, at seven feet tall, she now towered over her owner as well.
She thought about that for a bit and realised that most of the phoenii in the nest were taller than Raerean though, even the teenagers were close to the human's height. The only ones smaller were the chicks, but they grew so fast except for the perma-chicks.

Her mind turned to the blue and black phoenii she met the other night, apparently his name was Merlin. He seemed almost as shy as she was. Maybe she should get to know him better? She was really unsure about male phoenii now. Being an adult had also made her more avaliable to breeding, something she wasn't sure she really wanted to do. Was it so wrong to not want to have chicks in the future? She knew that being a cosplay meant that there was a chance of her peculiarities to be passed on to future generations and she didn't know if she wanted more of her flying around.

Ruth had twelve chicks to two different males, and she suited the mother role perfectly. Rae-Rae wasn't sure if she could live up to her example. And twelve chicks seemed like so many, and most of them lived in the roost anyway.

Rae-Rae enjoyed being out more, travelling to and from the Eyrie with Raerean. They were there most days and she loved it. More-so when there was another phoenii to talk to, otherwise she got bored. But had started to help out in the shop with keeping the shelves of potions full and dusted.


Twilight was starting to settle now and she watched the other phoenii fly in from whatever it was they did during their days. Seeing Ruth and Radience fly in together, she admired their love for each other and part of her hoped that one day she would find love like that.
Ruffling her feathers as she stood up, she headed towards the roost for dinner

Ruth was getting out the food for the nest in the morning while she was thinking about Aranya. Turning to Radience, she asked, "You do think she's ok right? It's not like her to be out all night."
Radience turned to his white mate and curled his tail around her to try stop her from pacing. "She'll be fine Ruth, just calm down, she'll return when she's ready. You know the others were starting to annoy her after that heartbreak she had last time."
Ruth nodded, knowing full well that he was right as usual.
Just at that moment, Aranya flew into the nest, he face alight with news to tell her parents.
"Mum, Dad, I'm so glad you're awake. I have so much to tell you!" She blurted as soon as she landed.
Ruth blinked in surprise at her daughter before replying. "As long as you're safe.. You might as well start talking." She resisted the urge to hug Aranya, she was so relieved that she was indeed safe as Radience had said.

"I met a phoenii yesterday, his name is Blui. He's really sweet and he asked me to be his mate and now we have eggs. Three actually." Aranya barely breathed with saying that.

Ruth just sat down and jawdropped at the rush of information. After gathering her thoughts, she managed to speak. "I guess you're going to want the basket as well then? And do you even have any food? Where are you staying since you didnt come home last night?"
Aranya blushed, you just cant put anything past Ruth. "I would love the basket mum and food would be great, we both woke up hungry. We're staying in a small nest closeby. We decided to set up one to raise our chicks in. We just never want to be apart." She knew Ruth would understand that since her and her father were almost always together.

Ruth nodded at this and went to turn to Radience who had strangly vanished. He padded back into the room where the females were, carrying the basket which was full of a mixture of berries.
"You needed these right?" He asked before placing it in front of Aranya.
"Yes Dad, thanks. I hope you two dont mind if I leave straight away, I really want to get these back to him.."
Ruth just nodded, "Take care of each other and my grandchicks ok. We'll visit when you're ready"
Aranya nodded, picked up the basket in a talon and flew back to Blui
