First Month
Ino approached her husband who standing at the stove cooking. Chouji looked up and smiled, assuring her it would be done soon.
“That’s good, I’m really hungry actually, I had a rough day with Ibiki, I’m pregnant, and I could use a good shower.”
“Oh that’s—“
Pregnant.
Just like that pause that occurred after that statement.
And that’s when the strong man fainted.
Elsewhere:
“I’m pregnant,” Temari told Shikamaru straight out.
He nodded and looked back at his newspaper calmly. “That’s nice.”
“YOU SON OF A b***h I TELL YOU I’M PREGNANT WITH YOUR CHILD AND ALL YOU DO IS SAY THAT’S NICE?! I’LL ******** KILL YOU—“
Loud crashes.
And that’s when the foolish man fainted.

Second Month:
The four always got together, considering Temari now lived in Leaf. In retrospect, it was not a good idea for Shikamaru to put the two blonds together, because they liked to gang up on him.
Ino poked at her stomach, which in her opinion was started to grow beneath her fishnet. “Chouji, do I look fat?” she asks, biting her lip.
“No, you look beautiful,” he assured her, petting her hair.
Temari looked at Shikamaru and he knew he was screwed. “Shikamaru, do I look fat?”
He squinted. “A little.”
Both Ino and Chouji winced.
“YOU a*****e I HATE YOU DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Even two months pregnant, Temari could use her fan so well.
---
Third Month:
“Chouji, I'm hungry," Ino whined softly from the couch. “I want udon, but I also want ramen, chocolate ice cream, mayonnaise, pop tarts, and pickles.”
Chouji made his wife a lovely ten course meal with a large smile.
"Shikamaru, I'm hungry," Temari was jealous over how much Chouji doted on Ino. She deserved to be doted on ONCE in awhile at least.
Shikamaru handed his wife some of his half eaten rice.
"OMFGYOUSONOFABITCH!!!!!"
Chouji sighed as the little weasel tore up his apartment.
He would think twice about inviting his two friends over again.

Fourth month:
Chouji and Ino shopped for baby clothes, while the battered Shikamaru made his way to the Hokage.
“Send me on a mission. Preferably one for five months.”
Naruto looked thoughtful. “I have a two month mission to Mist. They’re having a rat problem—the rats are overpopulating the village.”
“Done.”
“The rats are four feet long.”
“Done.”
“… they can bite through flesh and have acid saliva.”
“DONE,” Shikamaru took the scroll and thanked the Gods for his good fortune.
He must have done something nice in his past life to get this chance.
A few days into his mission, Gaara came to Mist to pick him up.
He must have done something bad in his past life to deserve this.

The fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth months were unimportant, because Shikamaru spent most of them unconscious.

Ninth Month
“Oooh, Shikamaru the baby is kicking,” Ino said gleefully. He put his hand on his friend’s stomach, grinning. “He’s a strong one,” he pretended to wince at the kick to his hand, making Ino giggle.
Temari glared at him. “WHY ARE YOU BEING NICER TO INO I’M PREGNANT WITH YOUR CHILD I HATE YOU!!!”
Shikamaru took a step back when he caught the look on Gaara’s face. “Now now, all this aggravation and aggression is probably not good for the child, Temari...”
“YOU CALL THIS AGGRAVATION AND AGGRESSION? I CALL THIS BEING
PREGNANT!” She bellowed, making Kankuro wince.
Ino interrupted the screaming match with a yawn. “Choujiii, my back hurts,” she pouted. Instantly he was at her side, rubbing her lower back gently. Within seconds, the original InoShikaChou was also in the room and at her side, making sure she was comfortable and not going into labor.
Temari’s head nearly exploded. “WHY DON’T YOU DO THIS STUFF FOR ME, NARA SHIKAMARU!?” A hand landed on her stomach and it took a second for her to realize the body attached to the hand was Gaara.
“You shouldn’t scream so much, you’re upsetting the baby,” he said calmly.
“…” said everyone else.
“Ack,” Ino said again. “This baby won’t stop kicking—“ Gaara’s hand also went to her swollen torso, apparently showing his new found love for babies. “…”
Gaara’s lip twitched and Kakuro swore it almost looked like a smile. “I want to be the Godfather.”
Chouji nearly fell of his chair. Gaara the Godfather of HIS kid? “Um. I’m sorry, Kazekage-sama, but Shikamaru is uh—going to be the Godf—“
“He,” Gaara’s lip twitched even wider, “can be the Godmother.”
Kankuro was the first to speak. “So does that mean Gaara and Shikamaru are married?”
“…”

Ten Years Later
“NARA SHIKAMARU GET BACK HERE AND TEACH YOUR SON THE SHADOW JUTSU THIS INSTANT!!!!” Temari’s voice carried through all of Leaf.
Shikamaru snuck over to Ino and Chouji’s planning to hide out for the next ten years.
Fatherhood was so troublesome.
