As a slightly silly topic-- guilds are like books!
Some books are larger than others.
Some have many large words, and other have a lot of pretty pictures.
Many are on the same subject!
Some look like they were made with the IQ of an average first-grader.
Some are so sophisticated, it makes the reader's eyes bleed.
But they all have people who love them!
....And, that was my little odd thing. Anybody else think the same? Think differently? Any other comparisons?
++
EDIT:: This is now going to be my little thread, for any new thoughts and comparisons about things that I happen to think of.
Please have fun commenting and discussing them, but be nice and polite!
Any new thought posts will have something noticiable about them, like a new color, so that you can see what is a new thought and what is just my own comments.

I agree!
And a lot of the time, I can't understand guilds unless I get to the "plot" or what it's really about.

Wow....I didn't think of looking at it that way...you are most likely stronger in spatial intelligence. I like that. Good. True, some guilds make no sense what so ever. like all the poll guilds....they have no reason to exist....oh well.

Spatial functioning is a mental process which is associated with the brains attempts to interpret certain types of incoming information.
Or something like that. XP It is just that you looked at how guilds are like books is a different way of handling the incoming information.

Yup, that sounds like me. I tend to think in very vague metaphors that only make sense to me.

There, fixed it so it says what I thought, just in a stronger manner.
*Hands candle to Victoria* Now she has one. (Sorry, one of the things I do is try to make others laugh, even during serious moments. Fair warning)

Books? That's a great comparison... I've never thought of that before. But now that someone's brought it up, it really is very true!

Wow, I feel so loved. (happy tears) AW, you guys are the bestest best friends a girl could hope for! I love you! And yes, bestest is a word. Timon and Pumbaa, ya'll.
Thank you for the compliment, Antonymic! I love being called a spark!
And thank you, Zabuza, for the candle! Ooh! That makes me think of the song, Light My Candle, From RENT. And I do the same thing, with the funny stuff, except my stuff isn't funny and just makes things awkward.

Hello, Modi! You would make a great poet! It's very poetical to use metaphors to describe and/or explain things. 3nodding

NEW THOUGHT NEW THOUGHT
::Inspired by a scene from the movie "Shall We Dance"::
Humans are extremely social creatures. This is scientific fact.
Because of that social element, people ultimately want attention. Children get attention right off because we are genetically wired to care for our young because they are born so helpless (this is why many people call baby animals and small objects 'cute'). Pregnant women recieve attention because they carry the future young.
The fact that humans love to such an extent as to have several meanings of the word beyond "one who watches my back" is because of the need for attention. By adding someone to our lives, we are getting another chance to have another witness who we are. We want the attention given to us by someone who will stay around for a long time, and who will experience our own trials and joys in a similar manner. We want a person who is there for more than just survival (in the sense that two people catch more food than one). Just like Euridipes (spelling?), who fell in love with hsi mother, we want someone to give us that special attention that a parent gives the young.
This is also the reason people adopt pets. Some cannot find someone as of then who will stay with them. Others want more love and attention. An animal compantion does not think in the same manner, but all of the common domesticated animals (cats, dogs, birds, ect...) have similar lifestyles. Wolves, the ancestors of the common household dog, are monogamous until, at the death of their mate, they take another. The same is for felines. I don't know much about birds, but I suspect it is somewhat the same, seeing as how a bird whose partner has died will mourn. People see themselves in an animal, on some deeper subconcious level, and want more of the attention they would recieve from a human. Just turns out that that attention is traveling through an animal instead of a human.
This could also be tied to the reason that people create religions. They want to feel that there is a Someone out there, who is looking out for them in a kind of paternal way (God is referred to as "The Father"). It gives people that kind of sense of security that they recieved as children, or maybe the what they didn't experience and are yearning for.
--Any actual facts in the above blurb are pulled from my head and not from any actual research. Sorry if I'm wrong/I offend someone.

Yep, they are social creatures. Not sure about felines being monogamous, though. Where else would we get the term "tom cat" for "bachelor?" Maybe the larger species, but I'm not sure about them.
You pinned the religion nail right on the head. (Note: This sentence may not sound right).
You ARE very good at metaphors, though. I think you'd make a great poet or writer.
