Pretty much everybody in SoUE has a name that's significant. Some examples: Charles Baudelaire: a 19th century French poet (click here) Mr. Poe = Edgar Allen Poe Hugo = Victor Hugo = author of the Hunchback of Notre Dame Dr. Georgina Orwell = George Orwell = author of 1984 (Big Brother is watching you = eyes!!) Ummm....I though of a bunch more of these last night but I can't remember them. xp Anybody else have any?

Don't remind me of 1984! I'm being forced to read it, and the homework is totally destroying the book for me crying

I'm being forced to read it, and the homework is totally destroying the book for me crying That's one of my favorite books ever, I hate the way schools just pick it apart. I already mentioned this one but.. Isadora and Duncan = Isadora Duncan (famous dancer) Their last name Quagmire also comes from someone but I can't remember who at the moment..

I found a site with most of the characters just go to the lousy links section and look for the one named the Snicket Reference page. Plus, I'm pretty sure a thread like this already exists here. sweatdrop

I like it (as well as I can, it's not my type of book) it's just...the homework is making me hate it. I would've liked it just reading it, without having to translate stuff into Newspeak.

So, I was watching Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and it was the part where Violet eats the 3-course meal gum, and I was like..
Violet Baudelaire = Violet Beauregard?
The gum was roast beef flavored.

The gum was roast beef flavored. xd Hmmm... I believe that it is simply a coincidence... However, Mr. Handler DOES have a taste for the cryptic... Purhaps he is a great Dohl (spelling?) fan.

I went to this anagram site and typed in the character names for fun, this came out, I have one for each:
Lemony Snicket: Not Slick Enemy.
Violet Baudelaire: Devour elite labia
Klaus Baudelaire:Alas! Liked bureau.
Sunny Baudelaire: Unready as nubile.
Count Olaf: Uncool fat.
Beatrice Baudelaire:Cue ideal bearbaiter.
A Series of Unfortunate Events: Unoffensive rotter nauseates.
Stephano: Phase not.
Captain Sham: Maniac's Path.
Jacque Snicket: Jest quick acne.
Aunt Josephine: Up the sane join.
Charles Baudelaire: Erase laudable rich.
I have no idea why I did it, I just like anagrams!
