Yes, that's what I'm doing: Time travel. Explain your theory on how it works, why, or even IF it works. Use any principle, but make sure it's spelled correctly so that others can google it if necessary smile
My opinion: It isn't possible. The universe has a set amount of matter/energy, so if some matter were to travel in any direction, then there would be a little more or less in any given area. The universe wouldn't be able to compensate, since it can't change the rules. So it just doesn't allow travel through time. Also see: Heisenberg(burg?) Uncertainty Principle (this has a funny connection, but then Quantum stuff is always strange and hard to understand).

I think that it very well could be possible. Time is a tricky thing. Have you ever heard about the thing (I don't know its name, or even if it has one) where if one was to orbit the earth at or near light speed (I doubt we'll ever have the technology to get to light speed), time passes more quickly on Earth? So you'd return and it could be thirty years into the future, and you'd only be aged a tiny bit. I have no idea about going back in time though. I'll have to read up on this. I think even if there was a way, humans as we know them wouldn't be able to master it. I don't think we'll ever truly understand the universe either.
I'm off to read. xd

If we say that magic doesn't exist, nor religion and that all life is based around science then it cannot be possible, because time is a constant stream. And, once you move back in time, a paradox is created, now in that period of time that you went back in time, you would not be around, due to the fact you went back in time. So, how would you return?
Also, if you were to kill someone related to your birth, you would never have been created and thus, how would you of killed them? xd

Well, if you read the book Bearing an Hourglass by Piers Anthony, then you know what paradox in time travel would be like. sweatdrop man, is that a confusing book...
But on topic, I am actually fair neutral on this. I think it maybe possible, but will we (mankind in general) ever discover how? Most likely not.
I believe that the theroy proposed by Nucleotide is the Theroy of Relativity. Meaning that relative to the person moving at near light speed, time indeed speeds up on Earth. But to everyone else, (at least on Earth. Don't go into the what if someone on another planet, with its own rotation spin, is watching. At least, not yet.) time has not changed, but the person moving at near light speed seems to have "popped" out of time for however many years.
The solution to that? "Free", also known as switching from intertia to lack there of. Used in the sci-fi series called Lensmen, by swtiching to free space travel, or moving though space by removing the intertia from their craft, they can move faster than the speed of light, without the side affect of time changing, relative to everyone. Is that more possible than gaining speed of light? I believe so.

I'm feeling doubtful about time travel again. xd I've decided for sure that humans will never really be able too, if they will, then where are my futuristic people? Wouldn't they be walking around here?
I'm confusing myself.

No interacting with those belonging in that time. If you must interact, do not divulge information on the future. Stay in the following areas. Take this pill, so if you have sex with anyone, you won't produce children. That would throw off the normal timeline. And so on and so forth. See how confusing it could be? And besides, maybe you are the product of a time travel gone wrong. O_O

O_O This reminds me of the "getting sexy with your mom" situation from Back to the Future. xd Anyway, there probably would be some rules. If it isn't governed by the rules of science itself, it would be government run. And people break laws everyday, so the technology would probably be extremely well guarded. ninja Argh, history would be meaningless. I'm doing a potential big nono by using a fictional novel as an example but I liked it. In The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, people traveled around in time for fun and an agency that recorded the real history of things had to be established. That agency got messed up too though. I think time travel would be horrible, in the past anyway. Oooor, maybe we aren't seeing these time travelers because they only figured out how to go forward cool Yeah, I'm a dreamer.

A butterfly flaps his wings, and there's a storm on the other side of the world. So, if we even interact with someone in the past, we never know what the consequences of our actions would be, good or bad. We may even cease to exist! O.O

No other guild has offered its members the chance for their heads to explode due to the level of discussion. -ponders- Good point. Damn butterfly effects.....Don't kill the insects....unless....they are in some kind of space-time bubble. And the past is more like a musem, where people of the future can view it, but are like ghosts.

I suppose that would work, but that would discourage many people from even attempting time travel, for isn't the main reason most people want to go back is to undo some horrific event, or try to rig the past to make the outcome better for themselves? I highly doubt many people would go for purely educational purposes...
P.S. I like this guild, too. It's the first time someone has really, really taken me seriously! ^^

Just kidding. 3nodding Yeah, the guild has a good vibe, but time travel doesn't. *Shakes fist at time travel* Why I oughta...

ooh, burn!
nah, it's cool. I do that with my friends all the time. but yeah, time travel is very confuzzling. I think that, when we finally do get time travel capabilities, the world will end about five minutes after the first travel.

They probably wouldn't follow strict time-travel rules, and therefore only trusted scientists could time-travel, for the safety of life as we know it! If people just walked into the past, imagine what some of them would do. Wreak havoc is all I can think of. On a lighter note, I think everyone in this guild (considering we all most likely have an IQ higher than the average of 100), would have the chance to time-travel if it was given to us. It would probably be a really important and difficult, yet very fun job to have. I don't know if any of you understand what I'm trying to say about travelling in time being a vocation... (NOT a vacation...) If you do, good! I hope you share my insights. Hehe. =]

"Oh, so we can't attack them because they have weapons of mass destruction? OK, we'll just go back in time and attack them before they gained control of these weapons." If not that, they'd probably still take control because of how insane things would become. That makes me sad though. It's like how people want to use NASA for spying on other countries with satelites instead of using it for scientific research. Hm, I'd like to time travel I think. Well, except for the responsibilities.
