If you could change one thing in your entire life, what would it be? Think about your friends. If they changed one thing, how different would your life be? How about the whole world got an opportunity to do that, how screwed up or better would our world be? It's an idea running in my mind...

I never really gave it much thought. I'm too practical for it, I suppose. I like to think that what's done is done, and one can only do the best with what one has. Sure, sometimes you just want to undo something - badly - but I guess I believe in a "destiny" of sorts, in which everything can work out in the end.
But if I were to consider such a world, where each one person was given the oportunity to change one thing... well, I shudder to think what some people could possibly want. Humanity isn't exactly composed of angels - or intelligent people for that matter, lol. I'd say we'd be left with one hell of a chaotic world, don't you think? o0
Still, it's an interesting scenario to consider...

See, I'm too afraid of changing anything, because then I wouldn't be me. It's not like anything really tragic has ever happened to me.

Sepik It's not like anything really tragic has ever happened to me. I totally agree. JzzMnE4 Yeah I guess so, you never know if your life would turn out funnier or for the worst. Well, that's my opinion anyway... sweatdrop Were you thinking of writing something about this subject? Because that is so full of wonderful possibilities! wink

The only way I can think of is to include it in a fanfic sort of way...but then again, you never know.

I've considered a change, but I think the workings of the past are a bit too complex for such a thing. As seen in almost every single time travel story, changing the past can have terrible effects on the present.
My guess would be that iPods will enslave humanity if I change anything.

I don't worry about myself, really. I do wish my friends didn't have to lose their first daughter, though. They were so contented & happy the 4 months she was with them, & after she died suddenly of SIDS their lives were utter hell for at least a year after. But would changing that change the children they went on to have afterwards? They have a 3-year-old son & a new daughter born this last Valentine's Day. Would they still be here? So I don't know any more. But my friends will wear the scars & pain of losing their first daughter all their lives. sad

In this subforum, any idea someone mentions may be used to write with. Unless it's something really really unique, and then you need the permission of who came up with it.

Personally, I wouldn't change a thing if I could go back in time. I believe that people's personalities come from their memories, so if I changed an event in the past, I wouldn't be me anymore. I would cease to exist, and therefore I wouldn't really get the chance to enjoy it. Besides, I like myself, and although I've had some pretty messed up stuff happen to me, that's my problem, and in order to maintain balance everything would be changed, not just my life. I need to take responsibility for my own issues, not make them problems for other people.

The world might not change as much as one may think.
Most people are selfish. Rather than changing something about others, they'd probably change something about themselves.
That's not meant as an insult to anyone. Frankly, if I had the chance, I'd change one thing about myself.
But...the idea in general leaves a lot to assumption. Does the "change" occur in a way that it's different from that point on? Or does it go back in time and "change" whatever happens from that point onward? Does stuff appear, or does it have to be drawn from somewhere else?

I'm pretty content with my life. I believe things, both good and bad, happen for a reason. And sure, there were things I've done that I wish I had done differently. But, I think it was those decisions and actions I took then that has shaped the person who I am today.

I wouldn't change a thing really. I believe in leaving everything as it is. Well, there is one thing. I wish the whole world was Pagan again and everyone lived in little huts and there was no more building and concrete, and animals could thrive again, and humans didn't think they were rulers of the planet anymore. Because we aren't.
