I've heard from some people before that their animal guide/spirit is an animal, but either a variation, or type that would not normaly exist.
For example, A dog with hooves, or a red girrafe. The idea is that the guide is not a real animal, or an animal that could exist. That the colors are impossible to be real, or it has parts from other animals.
I have also heard from others that an animal spirit always has to be a real animal. because they say other wise, it would be a demon.
What views, opinions, and knowledge do you have on this?

I hold the belief that a guide will come to us in the form that they believe will not frighten us. A form that is comfortable for us.
Being that it is an animal we are used to, but with something a bit odd, maybe that is something to help us distinguish our guide from the "real" thing.

So, you're saying as long as we are comfortable around it, in whatever form it is, it is still a guide? That makes more sense I suppose.

Usually a guides form is based on their personality, and our comfort level. But we sometimes forget that guides are on different planes and dimentions and in some cases different planets. But their forms are restricted to our understanding and comprehension. For example I could see a Ki-rin being discribed as a Dog with hooves. (or a deer with scales, and the head of either a dragon, dog or lion) Sorry I know these are not the greatest pictures of Ki-Rin

Humanoid formed guides are a bit more flexible, but culture based. Both though teach life lessons, our strengths and personalities. Spiritual teachings depend on the creature or culture. Guides that appear as light, and or colour with little to no form are primarily spiritual teachers.

Hopefully I can find the will to get off of Gaia for an hour or so to try to connect with my guides. Its really difficult though. I have a hard time opening my consicousness. The rational part of my mind keeps butting in.

Thyna Cool I take it you play Magic: the Gathering I use to but stopped 8 years ago Just got bored of it and always having to spend money on new sets...I found it annoying I play, but I leave the buying cards up to my fiance now...I have more important things to buy...like laundry detergent, animal food, people food, bills, etc. rofl I still give him advice ALL the time on his decks and when he makes a new deck I play test them for him. Last year for my 21st birthday, I went to the Magic Prerelease for Ravnica, it was fun, but I drew a really awesome card (worth $20), but had to pass it (we pass the cards we open and register to prevent cheating.). It was fun and Brennon, one of the owners of a card shop in Louisville, gave me 3 free packs since I spent it playing rather than drinking (he also started hitting on me, and the guy is like in his 30-40s! eww). I ended up getting a couple of cards that are worth about $20, but had to sell them later for milk and bread...not fun. I almost cried, because one of them was in one of my decks. This year the prerelease is the 20th for Planar Chaos. I'm not going, but I might go to the release on the 3rd...I'm not sure yet. Anyway, back to topic! lol

Raeden Michelle Hopefully I can find the will to get off of Gaia for an hour or so to try to connect with my guides. Its really difficult though. I have a hard time opening my consicousness. The rational part of my mind keeps butting in. yeah that can be problematic. Sometimes, though the key is simplicity. When I was in college I had an idea of developing a meditation book for Beginners. One of the first meditations it was to offer was based on observing a line or a peice of string that we could wiggle and make move. Then use the same line to make different shapes and patterns, and eventually use the string to do colouring book outlines of familiar objects, favorite places, cartoons and even guides. (sneaky eh) Rational mind thinks it is nothing more than a line, and yet it is so much more. If you are wondering about the book, sorry. sweatdrop The book itself was quickly squashed by over thinking the process and loosing confidence in my writing abilities. But I still have its meditations.
