Time. We are all governed by it. Whether it be the years of growing old, the days and weeks waiting for a return letter from a far off loved one, or the few seconds on the borderline of life and death.

In this world, time rules all - and time is ruled by a single tower.

This clock tower, centered in the midpoint of Prague, is where time is governed from, controlled by a single man who spends his endless days residing in the tower itself, watching the city beneath him, and the world around it. Casting judgment on those he sees, he decides who lives and who dies - how much time they have left, and when their time has come.

He is treated like a god, ruling with fear - prayed to by the people of the planet in hopes that he will allow a loved one to exist for a day longer, or for a hated fiend to have his time cut short.

The tower itself is a place where few dare to venture, the dark, forbidding stone structure, encircled with statues of gargoyles, omens, and skeletons is a sign of danger in itself. Anyone who doesn't feel fear from the empty eyes of these statues watching their every move is either brave beyond wisdom, or idiotic beyond mention. No one dares to speak with the man in the tower, or even attempt to make their way up the winding steps, clearly open at the base of the tower for anyone unknowing enough to venture up them.

When time seems to be out of whack, though, people start wondering what's happening in the tower. People are dying for no reason - their time cut short, and some people have been living to excessively long ages. Time speeds faster on one side of a street than it does on the other.

No one knows what's going on - but they know it has something to do with the man in the clock tower. They must figure out what's wrong, and quick, before things get worse.

Time is of the essence.

Tsunade was a water sorceror by nature using his staff to intensify his magic. His hair was dark blue and his eyes pitch black. His smile was infectuous when he was in a good mood and his anger was intolerable when someone managed to tick him off which wasn't very often. A good word to describe him was serious and calm with many contradicting traits.

"Something is wrong," thought Tsunade to himself.
For the third time that day he looked up to the sinister clock tower. Time had gone awry. Young ones had turned to old, ancient people and old one's into youth. He knew he had to do something.

( I'm sure that Flite will not mind if you roleplay. If she were here, I'm sure she'd encourage it. And now that there are others showing interest in this, I do believe I'll join. )

Sherima looked upon her mentor, Tsunade, in curiosity. She had been blessed with a variety of powers, but she needed separate training for each of them. Tsunade was in charge of helping her control her water powers. She trained under other sorcerers for the other abilities.

"What is wrong, master?" She questioned. It seemed he had been looking at the clock tower all day. Even when he was training her, his mind seemed to be distracted. Sherima's blue eyes shone with curiosity behind her pitch black bangs. She awaited the answer with patience, knowing that her teacher would tell her when he felt he needed to.

"Something is amiss, Sherima. Can't you tell. Look around you."

Tsunade looked at his student; a female of many gifts which he grew to admire. "A ripple has been born and a great wave is soon to follow."

Just then, an old woman came up to him. There was pure fright in her eyes, but before she could utter a word, she collapsed onto the hard ground. Never had Tsunade seen an old woman, but surely this was one and there she lay dead before him. Suddenly he realized their danger. His eyes turned to the other side of the street.

"Sherima, hurry! We must get to the other side of the street. Time seems to move faster where we stand!"

The god is angry. Something has tempted his anger....

Sherima watched in a mixture of curiosity and fright as the old woman collapsed just a few feet from her. She shifted her feet uncomfortably while her mentor spoke. When he began to run, she followed obediently.

Sherima was still young, perhaps in her twenties. She wasn't sure, for she didn't keep count. The Tower of Time- as her parents had called it- had always been there. There had never been anything wrong with it, nor had anyone ever bothered to go up there and see who ran the place.

"Master... Perhaps we should go into the tower and see what the problem is..." Sherima suggested timidly. She had never heard of someone going there, and there could have been a reason for that. Perhaps something had happened that told all the people to not go in there. If it had happened, she didn't know about it.

"Are you crazy, Sherima? No one has ever dared to go into the tower. Do you have a death wish?"

He looked at the young woman sadly, "Besides, someone has already tried. My friend was always curious why we should fear something we know nothing about. He proclaimed that it was merely tradition and nothing more....that was the last I ever saw of him, Sherima. Don't be a fool."

Yet his eyes traveled back to the sinister tower. He was just as curious.

Sherima looked at her mentor with a look of conflicting emotions. She felt bad for him and his lost friend. At the same time, she also felt that his friend did not have correct reasoning. She felt that she did.

"Master... Everyone will die at some point. If we try to go in and see what's wrong, at least we'll be able to die while we search for a way to fix things." Sherima pleaded.

"Is that what you think? That we should all one day die? This is true, but what would be the point of running fullheartedly into forseen danger?" He crossed his arms in slight irritation.

*flashback*
"Mother, where are you going?"
"Tsunade, you wretch, stop asking me such silly questions. I told you, where I go is none of your concern. Just be glad that you are alive and well."
"But it is late, mother, what could you---"
"Tsunade! Don't make this any harder than it has to be!"
He could tell that she was going to cry and he wanted to comfort her, but at every attempt she seemed to either ignore it or simply deflect it. A single tear escaped her wet eyes and she looked at him wearily.
"Go to your room. You hear me!" said she with a shakey voice.
He looked at her sadly, but she was firm with her command and he followed it obediantly. The next morning, when he arrived in the livingroom to see how his mother had fared through the night, she wasn't there or anywhere else in the house. Instead there was a note written in his mother's easily identifiable fancy handwriting. All it said was this: My time is spent Later, he would contemplate on this phrase always wondering what it meant for he never saw his mother again.
*flashback ended*

What if...what if it had something to do with the tower. But I said I wasn't going to go!
Tsunade looked back at Sherima with a change of heart. "Sherima, if you truly feel so strongly about fixing this problem then I shall follow you."

(I wonder who's going to do the man in the tower?)
