I was planing on having a guild wide Music video contest.
I realized that I my self don't know alot about making a video. So I purpose this to be a place where we can share our knowlage. So that we can have a really great contest. Here is some informatin that I have found. If there is any thoughts, coments or conserns feel free to post. I would love to find out if we have guild members who know a thing or two about the topic. I am sure this is going to generate alot of questions so I am looking forward to some of your help.

How To Make Your Own Anime Music Video
From Katherine Luther,
Your Guide to Anime.

Here's a quick how-to to get you started.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: Can take several hours, depending on your resources
Here's How:

1. Plan Your Video. This is probably the most important step in the whole process because if you don't plan it well, your final result won't be very good. Start by picking a song that has two qualities: 1) you really like it and 2) it has an anime "feel" to it. That doesn't mean it has to be Jpop.. just that you can envision some select anime scenes rocking to your tune.
2. Map Out Your Lyrics. The idea here is to make your video match the music. Most songs, especially rock music, have a mix of milder verse and more "explosive" choruses. Listen to your selected tune and determine what type of clips would go well in each section of the song. This will help when you begin slicing your video.
3. Pick Your Video. This part of the process can be extremely time consuming, depending upon your resources. Using purchased DVD's that you own, you'll need to import your selected clips into MPEG or AVI format. There are several software programs available that can help you do this or you can use a video capture card to get the same results. Once you've imported all your clips, you're ready to start slicing.
4. Slice Your Clips Using one of many editing programs out there (Adobe Premier and Pinnacle are both great choices) slice your video clips according to your song lyrics. Most of these editing programs will import your music as well as your video so that you can preview your work as you go.
5. Publish. All that's left to do now is burn your masterpiece to a CD and enter it in one of the many con competitions! Good luck!

Tips:

1. Be sure to only use music and video from DVD's and CD's that you've purchased, not the downloaded bootleg stuff.
2. Pick a song that matches your clips. For example, Dragon Ball Z fight scenes go great with tunes from Limp Bizkit, Disturbed and Metallica. Romantic anime would work better with something more mellow like a ballad or love song.
3. Don't just put an entire episode to music. Pick and choose the best parts of the episode(s) then string them together so that they flow from one to the next. Think about movie previews you see on TV.
4. Be creative. The only limitation to anime music videos is your own imagination.

What You Need:

* DVD's and CD's
* Video capturing equipment or software
* Video/DVD editing software
* A good imagination and several hours to kill
* Patience

Thank you and good luck.

Sounds fun. Can't wait to see what y'all make!

And then there's the whole ordeal of getting the video from your DVDs...I'll have to dig up the link I found about it, in case anyone has quesitons. (Making AMVs has always interested me, but it looks pretty complicated for the amount of free time I have. sweatdrop )

If anyone has a simpler way of making an anime music video I would be happy to hear from them.

I tried making one before, but my program has a glitch in it crying . Unless anyone else used windows movie maker, and the final result was the video being upside down and half cut off. Oh yeah, the colours were screwed up when I was actually making the video

Was it a downloaded program?

I made a few typos.
The song isn't supposed to be The Blister Exits. It was supposed to be The Blister Exists. Other than that I'm good.

Okay, this topic is ANCIENT.

But I have to say...

EVERYONE READ THE LITTLE GUIDE IN GORENZA'S FIRST POST.

I cannot stress how correct it is, okay?

3. Don't just put an entire episode to music. Pick and choose the best parts of the episode(s) then string them together so that they flow from one to the next. Think about movie previews you see on TV.

AMEN. Amen, amen, amen.

Although I say one thing.

Everyone, don't download illegally instead of buying. Always buy your anime...however...
DON'T IMPORT THEM, FOR GODS SAKE. (It takes so much frickin' time. crying )
Go to some video site and download them all, it will save you SO much time.
And its not really illegal either, its not bad:
You may be downloading them in a way that violates copyright, but if you already spent your money on the DVD's and they're sitting on your shelf right now....

You've already supported them, so downloading them really doesn't matter, it'll just save you plenty of time...
I mean come on....9 hours importing them
Or a 2 hours downloading it all?

Or at least thats my take on it. XD

Y'know, I think the guild deserves an AMV sticky in the main forum, with a nice guide and a place where everyone can post their vids.

That is true Suni.
We are so hammered with announcements and stickies on the main forum.
We hoped that the sub forums would alleviate these problems.
Currently we have been talking about reorganization yet again.
It seems to me that gaia is just not giving our guilds enough tools to keep things efficient.

Suggestions are always welcome. 3nodding

Well, personally....

*pokes the main page*
We have the Hellsing poetry and song contest...
That seems like it can go, its so old...If no one wants to delete it, move it to unique threads perhaps?

Also, perhaps the one regarding gaia's storyline should go for awhile, until the next plot picks up...

Perhaps the "Announcements, Regulations, etc." sticky should be changed to an announcement? sweatdrop

Also, fanart is a much bigger deal then AMV's in the fan community. Perhaps make fanart its own forum, and give AMV's a sticky?

confused

Woah, I'm totally over stepping my bounds here.... eek
*runs away*

The song contest is my fault for not being finished.
I keep it up there to remind me to get to work on it.
*sigh*
I agree about the gaia event announcement.
I guess we kept hoping gaia would deliver more story...ehem..soon.
We will have to keep in mind the fan art idea.

Don't you worry about making a stand about improvements to the guild.
This is how we grow. It seems like we have received a lot less constructive criticism over the past several months. Some people might think this a good thing but when there are no ideas being thrown around I get worried. That's just me.

That seems like a really good idea, cause when I rip the DVD's it seems like the quality goes south REALLY fast, however I have no IDEA how to download, so I guess I'll be forever in the "Takes Forever DVD Club" rofl
