Name: Nefarsin Li Merrindale
Nickname: Nef
Sex: Male
Age: Dou-teen (high school senior)
Type: Black Silk
Element: Darkness
Position: Unknown- most likely seme
Personality: Easygoing and clever, sneaky. Secretive, slightly moody.
Ability: Weaver (silk generation)
Turn ons: Darkness, shadows, quiet, gentleness
Turn offs: Bright lights/publicity, hot and muggy weather, family fights
Looks: Pale skin, black eyes and hair. Built broad across the shoulders and strong like Alain, but quick on his feet and pretty of face like Sah. Black headwingies like Fai. Usually wears all black, since he's...umm...ninja!

Education: Never been to a real school (until now). All of his education has been well accomplished by his family, so he's far better educated in some areas and seriously lacking in others- like algebra or geometry. His focus has been inward, conquering his own demons and learning martial arts. He is a trained ninja, and is also training in the assassin's arts with Spicata. His lack of public education has made him rather antisocial, making dealing with people outside his family rough.
Occupation: Student/ninja
Marital status: Single O_o;
Family: The Li clan (Fai, Kaolin, Mah, Reku, Sah, Alain, his brothers...omfg big family XD)
Diction/accent: Heavy, but pretty Chinese accent
Relationships: FEW. Mmkay? Devoutly loyal to those who get close, but standoffish in the beginning. Untrusting.
Sexual history: HAHAAHAAaaaaaaaa...Ameris O_o;; because people have COOTIES.
Places: Shadows, Mah's dojo, s**c's place. Anywhere his family is.
Possessions: Black silk scarf, long, with blades in each end. Knife from Mah, which he is training to attain the sword that matches.
Hobbies: Being ninja!! Weaving, though all of his designs are in shades of black at the moment. Practicing with either set of teachers, cutting class with Ame.
Obsessions: Stealth, focus. Taking care of his family.

Beliefs: Speed, stealth, skill...all of these things are relative. You're nothing if you don't understand yourself. All the skill in the world won't help you if your enemy knows your weakness...your demons are something you must face first, not last.
Politics: *snort* You pay me, I kill them? Yay?
Ambitions: To be a master, like Fai or Mah. To get that sword Mah's been dangling over his head for years.
Religion: None...Zen moments XD
Superstitions: There ARE things in the shadows. He's seen them.
Fears: Losing his family, disappointing his parents/clan
Attitude: Easygoing, usually cheerful if you get him on comfortable ground. Distant and dark and a bit moody in school, cause he hates it there. Can be JUST like an excitable little boy when he's happy about something! Let the devil come and bring his armies, Nef will sort 'em out.

Taste in books/music/etc: Loves ninja histories, which are usually verbal. Actually not a fan of hard rock/techno, really. Kinda likes salsa. Loves classical music or Fai-swing music, things that are soft and soothing.
Foods: MmmmChinese = family food! Likes to cook like his daddy, but not near as widely ranged in it.
Handwriting: Small, precise, all angles
Astrological sign: ---------
Talents: Weaving silk out of nothing. Keeping his family out of trouble, fixing trouble when it happens. Protecting people. Being ninja, picking up languages. Very good at Chinese calligraphy, when he sits down to work on it, which he does fairly often because it makes him focus. Pretty good cook. Very romantic, voted 'most likely to fall head-over-heels.'

History: Nef came to Elysium when his family evacuated Imperial, much younger than he is now. He remembers the nightmare creatures his family fought, adjusting in this strange place where magic is gone...watching his family find a new place here, watching his father's throat get slit because of his actions. To this day he is haunted by the fact that Sakito cannot speak, and blames himself for the violence that caused it. This is part of the reason he is so protective of his family, but it goes deeper even than that. His nightmares are painful, sharp, and leave him shaking.

Self: Confused. Restless. I don't like the changes going on in my little world. I miss my usual routine...

Family: Teir and Flint are in schol with me now. Flint uses it as an excuse to make out with Momi, but Tier seems to like it. Both Papas seem happy...maybe Papa (Sah) can get some rest with Teir out of the house half the day. From the stories Papa (Alain) tells, he used to be a hell of a lot more active in the world; I hope we didn't weigh him down too much. Gan is still missing. I'm crossing my fingers, but I don't think it's helping.

Extended Family: No word recently from Fai Li and Kaolin. Wonder how they're doing? Probably having a blast somewhere, lucky bastards. Mah and Reku are well. Papa (Alain) seems worried about Seraph...he won't tell me why, though. It probably has something to do with Llaves del Oro disappearing off the streets...I heard they'd gotten close. No word from Edrienne, but then, we wouldn't be the first to hear.

Friends: Well...s**t. For the first time, I have something to write here. I've always kinda disliked blending with people, but this school thing forces me into a lot more 'social' situations than I like. I'm getting pretty damn annoyed by all the ******** people...except that there's this one guy. He's pretty enough to be a Dou, I swear. Has a tendancy to look roughed up, but in a good way...a way that makes me look twice. Lots of...things happened. I like him. See journal for details.

Worldview: School is the most hideous thing anyone can do to a child. I'll accept it as a challenge- but there's no way you can convince me that sitting in classrooms for eight hours is a healthy way of life. Also...there's magic in the air. Something must have happened recently to change things.

Ameris: I...don't have a solid opinion on him yet. He confuses me so much, but it's like the burn of hot wax...I'm almost looking forward to it.

The maddest kind of love,
is a love you know is wrong,
it burns a hole, right through your soul,
and cuts you like a knife.

3am, sitting on the roof of the Silverstone Bank

Papa (Sah) decided his babies need to go to school. I'm not exactly thrilled about it. Gan is still missing from whatever the hell 'save the universe' thing he's doing...Flint seems pleased to steal the time with Momi, and Tier likes it well enough. Dyfrin, hell, no one ever knows what he thinks cause he's so damn quiet. I guess I'm the only one at odds with it, but I hate this bullshit! I can say that here, before dawn, watching the skyline start to separate from the night. Here, there's no one to give me that disapproving frown when I get angry. I hated being in that classroom for the brief time I was there...I feel caged, trapped. I'll do this for Papa, because he wants us to go, and because I won't tell myself I can't do it...but I don't have to be happy about it, either.

So far, school has one redeeming feature. Past the strange looks, the nosy students, the girls who seem to want to know EVERY ******** thing about me, there's...Ameris. A single student, late to homeroom, dishevelled and so pretty. My hands itched constantly to button his shirt, fix his tie...brush his hair out of his eyes. He convinced me to 'cut class' (it wasn't exactly hard) and we went for lunch in Chinatown. This being my home turf, of COURSE we got caught...by both papas, no less. Holy s**t, much. He convinced me to actually RUN from Papa (Sah), and I figured it was worth a try; for the first time in my LIFE he didn't catch me. It's never happened before, because he's so damn fast...and Papa (Alain) was tracking us, too, and didn't find us. Exhillerating, but I'm going to get nailed for it when I get home. Still...just this once, I wanted to see if I could do it. Maybe I can win that argument with him, somehow. I'll do my best not to do it again.

We ran to Ame's place. Jesus. He has so many costumes he could set up SHOP. Come to find out he's an exotic dancer...very exotic. I bet they pay him very well. We ordered hibachi delivery, and it came with Chinese wine- needless to say, we weren't exactly in control of our actions. I...slept with him. ********, I'm blushing, you're not supposed to blush when you write to your JOURNAL. It was...so much better than I'd always let myself assume. His body screams for me to touch him, and I have very little resistance to what he offers. He's working right now; I went and watched him dance for a while, before coming out here to practice. He's stunning.

I have this burning desire to show up on his doorstep, collar unbuttoned, with a bottle of Chinese wine and a blood red rose. Is that bad?

Letter to Sah
Left on the kitchen table...

Hey, papa. Sorry I made you worry last night- I know I should have called but...things came up. They won't keep me from calling in the future, I promise, it was just...a little unexpected. Sorry I ran at lunch, too- I didn't think I could actually lose you. Ever. You know I'm not one to avoid responsibility.

I'll try to make it up to you. Hope Flint got my message through-I'll go back to school tomorrow. I don't like it, but I'll keep trying, cause I know you want us to go.

Love and kisses and mushy crap-

4am, at home safe and sound

Left Papa (Sah) a note on the table. Hope it smooths things over a bit, I'm not likely to be awake when he surfaces. Encountered Dyf on my way in. He's studying- still awake! Because he wants to ace the AP class tests, whatever the hell those are. We had an interesting conversation about why he wants to do so well...and why my studies are so important to me. I want to be the best, just like he does...we just have different directions to take on the way. I hope he doesn't study too hard. I heard Papa (Alain) wandering just now, he'll probably go make sure he doesn't die.

And what the hell is with EVERYBODY knowing I lost my virginity, anyways?! Snarky ******** bastards need to keep their mouths shut. Dyf was surprised I hadn't gotten that 'lesson' from s**c- but like I told him, it's different. There's no emotion involved in assassin's training. This was...a whole different world.

Damn, I sound like I'm infatuated. s**c's never gonna let me live this down.

In the house of Li Merrindale...
- Sah's Journal, 3am -

You know you're getting old when you find yourself upset and yelling over things you used to do a LONG time ago. When you find youself becoming the person you used to hate, the person you used to make fun of... True, time does change people- but... why? What happens that could cause such a huge metamorphasis that suddenly you don't know WHO you are anymore.

Sometimes I feel like Alain doesn't understand me- and not just because he can't see me or hear me anymore.. because his ideas and views are different. He grew up in a family, with brothers. I didn't have that. I had no brothers, I didn't have a family at all. I grew up alone, on the streets. My parents didn't care about me enough to keep me, or want me- and that's something they chose to do, for whatever reasons. They still feel like that now, even if they have both accepted me.. they never really 'took me into thier heart'.

I guess that's why I get so angry when they leave me. My children.. I love them so much, but sometimes they can treat me just like my parents did- expendable, something to lean on when it's convenient- and when it's not, just to leave. I know they're not going to be with me FOREVER.. but, I just thought.. maybe they'd be with me a little longer.

Sakito sighed, setting his pen down for a few moments to run his fingers across his eyelids and brush away the tears that had some how gathered there. Thinking about all this continued to upset him. Frustrated, he set the journal side and stood. He shouldn't be getting to angry and upset... he should be accepting this and supporting them, wherever they were. Gan was gone, Flint was in Love, and Nef... he didn't know what Nef was doing anymore. He rarely saw him, and when he did it was briefly before he dissapeared into the night.

"... what have you become, Sakito." He whispered to himself in his head. He raked his fingers through his hair, walking through the house into the kitchen area. A slip of paper caught his eye, and he paused, lifting it to read.

Letter to Sah

Sah sat down, staring at the note for a long time. After a few minutes he put his head down, crying silently to himself.

Nef: *wakes up screaming?!*
Ame: o____________0@?!!. *crash*
Nef: *huddles under blankets, eyes f'wide, whimper*
Ame: What the hell is wrong? *crawls over, gathers him into his arms*
Nef: *shudders, clings* ...Nightmare. Or something. s**t, I don't know ._.
Ame: It wasn't real. *murmurs into his hair* It's alright.. see? *glances down at him*
Nef: *face buried in Ame's shoulder, wingies tucked tight to his head* But...it WAS so real. Like i could taste it, Ame-ru...*shudder*
Ame: *flops back onto the pillows with him, humming softly too him* Nightmares aren't real.
Nef: *curls up close, deep breath* I know. I know that, but...I'm having a hard time believing in it. The things I saw...what if...*whisper* what if I really am that person?
Ame: Well, you're not. *places his hands on either side of Nef's face, making him look at him* Whatever you saw, will never happen.
Nef: *stares at him, eyes dark* Ame...I kill people. ._. *omgsecret?!*
Ame: What? *blinks, head tilted*
Nef: *gets up, running his hands through his hair and pacing* I...that's what I'm trained for. I'm an assassin. When...when does that stop being a job, and...and when does it become something more horrifying?
Ame: *gathers sheet around himself, sighs* When you lose control.. or sight of who you are. *he shrugged* I don't know, that barrier is something only you can set. ... why are you an assassin?
Nef: *shruggu* Training. Ninja lead into it so easily...it's a fascinating field, really. I didn't know how many ways there were to kill people until my master started making me fight for my life XD;; He's incredible. There's jsut...so much about that's an art, not a darkness.
Ame: Killing people, is an art...? *he shook his head, quiet*
Nef: The training is an art. The violence is a decision I make on my own...and I never said I was a good person, Ame. I come from a family of people trained to not jsut fight, but kill- it's who I am.
Ame: *looks up* No wonder you have such terrible nightmares.. your karma is ********: *leans close, breathes* If I must pay for my actions, so be it- I'm already in debt, just being here with you.
Ame: And how is that.
Nef: *kisses his forehead gently, sighs* You...make it easier to get up in the morning. *sad smile, wraps his arms around himself and steps out of the room*
Ame: ...meh. *flops onto his side, curls up*
Nef: *sits by the window, all curled up and scared Ame won't like him anymore* ._.
*knock on the door*
Nef: O_o;; *peers at the bedroom door, then at the front door...floats over and peers out the peephole*
Kuro: *dressed in a nice suit, Figaro standing a few paces behind him in his usual black*
Nef: O_o;; *steps back...sticks his head in Ame's door* There's someone at the door, looks scary. Stay here, okay? *closes door*
Ame: *leaps up, wraps sheet around himself toga-like* .. Eh? *peeks out door* o_O
Kuro: ... *glances at Figaro* .. I hope someone's home, it's 4 in the bloody morning.
Fig: *shrugs*
Nef: *eyes hard, gently pushes him back inside* No! Stay here, where you're safe. I have...a bad feeling about this. *quick kiss, lingering, retreives his blades and hides them on his loosely dressed person before goign back to the door* Who's there?
Kuro: Ah, here we are. *lifts eyebrow* .. Kurono Meeki, I'm here to see you.. Nefarsin.
Nef: .....I have little interest in speaking with you, Mr. Meeki. It's very- early. *level voice, calm*
Kuro: I do apologize for the time, but I sensed you were in need of .. a sort of guidance that only I could offer. I felt your nightmares, even from my facility. *clasps hands behind his back*
Nef: *closes his eyes, leans against the door, hand coming up to touch one wing for reassurance* My family's good at figuring this kind of thing out on it's own. you don't, from what I've seen, just randomly help other people unless there's something in it for you.
Kuro: *places a hand on his heart* That's true, young Nefarsin. I have plenty of secrets to share with you, if you'd only trust me just enough to listen.
Nef: *low growl* I don't trust anybody.
Kuro: Very well, I have plenty of relationships with others built on the sheer fact that they distrust me enough to.. trust that I'll act according to thier assumptions. So far, I haven't strayed from thier preceeded paths. Regardless of your trust, Nefarsin.. I want to tell you these things. I would like to be the one who places the cards infront of you.. to see which you choose.. or if you prefer to cast them aside. I only ask for the chance to show you what's in the shadows.
Nef: *uncertain?! .___________. *throws a panicked look at Ame's door* Tell me what you have for me to learn. You've given me little information to tempt my reason.
Kuro: *purrgrowl* Come now, Nefarsin.. you're practically shaking with the desire to learn what secrets I speak of.
Nef: *eyes narrow, forcing himself to be objective...with serious difficulty* My desires have little to do with strangers I have never met. All you have given me are vague promises- I want something more concrete.
Kuro: Well, I'll leave my card here, Nefarsin. If you wish to get the information.. you have but to call me. *sets the card on the doorstep* The dreams will get more real.. until you open your eyes and find them staring back at you from the darkness. I'll be waiting. *turns on his heel, heads off down the hall*
Nef: *slides down the door, eyes wide* ._________.
Ame: *walks out* Who was that
Nef: *rough voice, eyes wild* Kurono Meeki...promising me the world. *laughs...kinda*
Ame: Why didn't you take the offer.
Nef: *little noise of half-hysterical derision* Because men of power don't offer you ANYTHING unless you stand to lose something in exchange. Ya know, I don't really have anything I WANT to loose- and you know the school nurse? Yeah, he's kinda family. Sorta. He's STILL missing. This guy freaks me out...and I don't like how good his offer sounds ._.
Ame: Then, what's the problem. You don't want it, you said no, he's gone. *shrugs*
Nef: *stares at him a bit* Ame...he's offering to tell me wqhat the ******** is going on. What's worse, I think he knows, and...I'm afraid of the price that I'd have to pay. That doesn't change the fact that I need what he knows. s**t...I wish papa was home ._.
Ame: Stop worrying so much, Nefarsin. Take what you want. You obviously dont care THAT much about consequences.. your a ******** assassin, you murder people for a living... or hobby.. I dont know what the hell it is.
Nef: *stands slowly, eyes locked on him...walks towards him slowly, like a large cat, predator* *whisper* Ameris...does the fact that I could kill with every single item in this house mean that I am incapable of caring about anything else? *backing him up, too close* Do you think I like the fact that he now knows where you live?
Ame: *divastance. stands firm, hand on his hip, leaning slightly, lifts a hand to gesture as he speaks* What makes you think that it was you that lead him to my house? He's been in my club a few times, Nefarsin...
Nef: *hands on Ame's shoulders, intense* Do I look like I give a s**t? he came here specifically for me. I know how this business works, Ame-ru, this is what I grew up in- if he can hurt me at all, he'll remember how. *harsh breath, jaw tight* I don't want you hurt by this. Ever.
Ame: Oh, that's nice to say. *shrugs him off* If you want to know what he has, go.. don't use me as an excuse to stay because your worried.. I'll be fine. *heads back into the room* I always am.
Nef: *stares after him, hands clenched like he was burned...growls* Fine then. Watch me trust your judgement- since evidently you don't give a s**t, I'll take myself and go. *turns, throws his scarf around his neck and spins his knives back into his hands* See you on the ******** other side.
Ame: Bon ridance, monsieur! *slams his bedroom door shut, slides down and sits with his back against it*
Nef: *PISSED OFF MMKAY?!* *scoops up the card, stalks out to the streets with shirt open and angry as all s**t*

Well I threw you the obvious,
Just to see if there's more behind the
Eyes of a fallen angel,
Eyes of a tragedy.
-3 Libras, APC

Choice, pt 2

Quote:
The address on the card was to a large, privately owned apartment
building. It appeared that Oracle owned it, since most of the name plates
were proceeded by 'Dr.' or just listed under numbers for privacy. Written
on the back of the card was a set of numbers, and below that a 4 digit
code. The door was locked with a keypad, and presumably both the number
and code would let him in to both the entrance, and his room number.

--

Nefarsin had taken the time on the way to make himself presentable, though
his temper hadn't done much more than settle on the back burner. What right
did he have to judge, anyways? Since when was a stripper giving an assassin
lessons in morality- oh yeah, THAT made a lot of ******** sense.

One hand in his pocket, he examined the card in his loose hand before
peering up at the building. The numbers made sense, at least- he punched
the key code in and made his way towards the room numbers. He was tired of
this bullshit, anyways. If Kuro gave him trouble, he'd damn well find his
own way out.

--

The room number was neatly printed in gold lettering on a door at the far of the hallway. The area was plush- carpets a deep chocolate brown, walls painted a light brown, and many little gold bits of decorations and potted plants made the place look.. well, livable.

An umbrella stand sat beside the door, a single black umbrella resting within. A little welcome mat was outside the door, resting on the carpet. A polite sign beside the wall read:

'please ring the bell, and have patience.'

--

Taking a moment to carefully examine his surroundings as he'd been taught,
Nef nodded and followed the directions before leaning against a wall to
wait. The anger was starting to slowly, slowly fade, but he did his best to
ignore the little voice of common sense that said he should be running like
a b***h right now. Hands in his pockets, he stared at the toe of his boot,
remembering polishing it along with every single one of Ame's pretty
shoes...damn, he wished he'd never opened his mouth. It would be hard, if
Ame turned him away after this.

--

After several long minutes alone with himself and his own thoughts, Nef heard the sound of the door opening. It was dark inside the house, the faint light from the windows inside illuminating the area a tiny bit.. but not much. A short figure stepped into the doorway, head tilted slightly as he peered into the hallway.

He was dressed in pale olive colored robes, grey hair short in the back, with long bangs that framed his face. His eyes were covered in a white piece of silk, that tied behind his head. A cord of red string wrapped around his wrist, his fingers playing with the end idly as he waited.

"Hello, Nefarsin. My name is Nathaniel- please.. come in."

--

Nef raised his head the moment the door opened, eyes narrowed, but blinked
in surprise at the man who stood before him. Either he was blind, or some
crazy religious fanatic...somehow, Nef didn't think it was the latter. Long
accustomed to living with his father's eyes, Nef made enough noise to be
heard as he stepped away from the wall. "Nice to meet you," he said
neutrally, more to have something to say than out of any real happiness with
the situation. "Lead the way."

--

Nat stepped out of the way, moving as if he didnt have the cloth over his eyes- it was more of a keep things in, than to keep things out kind of cover. Once Nef was in the house, he shut the door behind him and walked across the entry way and into the sitting room.

"I apologize if it's dark in here, I see no reason for light when I'm alone." Nat moved through the room, turning on a few lamps before gesturing for him to have a seat. "You're here about the dreams, hmm?"

--

Now extremely confused, Nef felt his anger draining away to something more
useful- confusion, uncertainty, and curiosity. Gingerly taking a seat, he
cleared his throat and nodded out of habit. "Umm. Yeah, Kurono Meeki told
me I could come here for answers, but I was expecting him to be here...mind
telling me what's going on, by chance? This is a little out of my area of
expertise."

--

Nat sat down into the other sofa, hands clasping in his lap.

"I'm the one who told him where he could find you, Nefarsin." He smiled a little, continuing. "I've been watching your dreams.. they're pretty vivid- for someone who's type is 'silk', don't you think?"

--

"I didn't think it had anything to do with my type," Nef said warily,
leaning back and studying his host. "If you know that much, you probably
know what I'm trained in- my master just recently left for Imperial, and I
started taking jobs on my own. I thought it had a lot more to do with that
than anything else."

His fingers tangled in his scarf as he spoke, uneasy with the subject. The
shadows had felt a lot friendlier lately...what the hell was this leading up
to?

--

"Our dreams are just reflections of inner desires, wishes, and brief divinations of the future. You're far more special than you think. You've got the blood of Emperors in you Nefarsin.. I've seen your future. The dreams aren't related to your work in the assassin field, despite what you might think. It's a dark business, true- but it's also a necessary evil in many respects." He lifted a hand to gesture. "The dreams are a warning, an invitation of what's to come. They'll get more real, and more frequent.. We would like to help you, Nefarsin."

--

"You keep saying that," the young man replied softly, his eyes sharply
focused in the lamp light, "but no one has actually told me anything. I
know we carry Emperor blood, and Dragon too- it's never given me any
particular luck in the past." One hand strayed up to brush his left wing,
making him frown. "I've got access to a lot of teachers. Tell me what the
hell it is you have to teach, and why I should be learning it from you."

--

"I don't have anything to teach. I'm an oracle, I can see things. I'm here to tell you what Kurono Meeki can do for you. He's had extensive research in the Doushikai project. He has huge fascilities. He can sponsor whatever you need. You may have access to 'teachers' you know.. but we have access to secrets no one's even DREAMED existed." Nat reached into his coat, taking out two plastic ID cards, tossing them onto the table. "Your parents are already a part of our organization."

Two ID cards, each lamenated and coded, one with Sakito and one with Alain, rested on the table infront of him.

--

Nef retrieved the cards, trailing a finger over those precious faces for a
moment. It had been a while since he'd seen them...even if it was just
pictures, it was good to see them again. Their family wasn't exactly one
for pictures, so Nef didn't really have any to carry around. They looked so
dangerous here...and what the hell was with Alain's eyes?

He shook off the questions for the time being, though his grip on the cards
was still tight. "That's different. My parents could give a s**t about
Oracle- they're following Lilith. It wouldn't really matter where he was, I
think. And besides, I wouldn't be working with them, would I? One works
with the dead, and the other...s**t, I don't even know what he's capable of,
but I don't think magic's the biggest part of it. I may not be trained in
it, but even I can see that's where this is leading."

--

"Is there anything you want to know? I can try to answer your questions.. please try to be specific." Nat sat back, hands reclasping in his lap. "If y ou'd like to join us, I can take you to Oracle and to Kurono.. if you'd rather ask him your questions."

--

It was getting more and more difficult to not be pissed off at this
apparently nice man who was giving him absolutely no information whatsoever.
"Look," he said, leaning forward as he tried to put 'civil' into his tone.
"Everyone keeps telling me Oracle can help, that I'm something special now,
that the dreams are portents of what's to come- but no one has told me a
DAMN thing about what exactly I am! I don't have any questions to ask- I
don't even know what to ask them about!" He stood, pacing the room with a
low growl. "It's like...asking me questions about a book when I don't even
know what book you're talking about. This is insane."

--

"Insanity is an illusion." Kurono spoke up from the back of the room. He was leaning against the wall, blending almost flawlessly with the stillness around him. "You're the heir to the powers of shadow, the Emperor of Darkness. You haven't evolved yet, but... you will, very soon. Evolution can be a very very painful process. I've heard accounts of it being close to ripping your own skin off and climbing out, like being trapped in a cocoon. "I want to help you survive the process, Nefarsin. Why? Because, you're worth a lot more alive.. than dead."

Nat stood, turning towards the sound of Nefarsin. "...do you have any questions now?"

--

Nef laughed. He stared at them both a long minute first, tense with the
knowledge that his training had failed to notice Kurono, but that was damn
hilarious. "Emperor?" He managed, choking a bit on the word and shaking
his head helplessly. "You've got to be kidding. The last Emperor in my
family was grandpa Urien, and no one's shown any sign of the traits since,
except the horns. And shadow? Why shadow? Why not fire, since that's what
he was...or something."

He stared at Kuro a long minute, and snorted. "Everyone in our generation
is weak, magic-wise. Everyone knows that."

--

"I don't 'kid', Nefarsin." Kuro replied, voice a whisper from the unlit corner. "What makes you think it's anything to do with generations, or bloodlines. What makes you an expert on what makes an Emperor, hmm? Traits.. HA!!!" Kurono burst into laughter, genuinely amused. It made the hair on Nefarsin's neck stand on end.

--

This guy...is effing creepy, Nef thought to himself as he rubbed at the back
of his neck. It was hard to stay calm around a man who reacted like this.
"Genetics are the basis of your entire project- if it's not genetic, then
why do signs of it get passed down? Why do I look like my parents?" He
shrugged, however, and stuffed his hands back in his pockets. "Fine, say I
take you at your word. That doesn't explain why me, or answer the question
of why it's happening in my generation- or, for that matter, tell me what
you're going to want in return."

Kuro snorted, stepping out of the shadows. His fox ears were pricked slightly, a sure sign he was aggitated enough not to conceal them.

"You have no idea what the 'basis' of my projects are, Nefarsin." He paused a few feet from the boy, arms folded across his chest. "You can take a chance, like everyone else with me.. and reap the benefits of working with me.. or you can continue to speculate and fear.. and die of terror when the Emperor gene takes over your mind." He shrugged his shoulders, fine tailored suit barely moving with the motion. "If you need a contract.. or 'my word' ..whatever, you have it. You can do what you wish, I only ask that you work with me, in my facility.. where either me or my team can help you."

Nef stood his ground carefully, refusing the urge to back up even though it was REALLY damn strong. He had a bit better faith in his ability to stay sane than Kuro apparently did, but that was based on the people he had to help stabilize him- and half of them were missing or lost at the moment.

And it's not like you're going to get any respect from Ame-ru by crawling back empty-handed, now is it? His traitorous mind whispered, and his eyes hardened. "You have a deal, at least for now, but I have training and family and jobs of my own to attend to. I won't be with your people 24/7."

"That's fine- I just require you to be there every once in a while.. when I need you. You're free to do as you wish otherwise." Kuro offered a hand out to shake, his ears blending back into his hair. "Deal?"

"Deal," Nef stated reluctantly, taking his hand and hoping he wasn't seriously ******** himself over. "Am I supposed to stay at Oracle, or what? You're gonna have to give me some directions here."

"We have a place waiting for you, as a matter of fact." Kurono was unruffled now, and the feeling of tense hostility was completely gone. "Do you mind staying in this building? It's not to far from your usual haunts.. and close to our fascilities that you are easily accessable."

"Whatever," Nef replied with a shrug, sharpness of his eyes dimming for a moment as he looked away. "My usual place of residence is a bit out of reach at the moment, so it's be here alone or at home alone...I really could care less." He refocused on his new 'employer,' hands back in his pockets. "So who's supposed to teach me/answer my questions, where do I get one of those shiny ID cards, and where are my parents working?"

"So many questions for someone so young." Kurono murmured, eyes sparkling and amused. "Nathaniel is here to help you, and so am I. You can reach me at any time on my phone should you need me personally. You'll get a card as soon as I return to Oracle.. and your parents are working with Lilith in the fascility."

That...wasn't exactly what Nef had wanted to hear, but the other two answers were good enough. He was pretty sure this much-vaunted Lilith could answer a HELL of a lot more of his questions- and more clearly- than Kurono could. "I suppose that's it for now, then," he replied with a shrug. "No reason to keep you, it's nearly dawn."

"I'll show you your room on my way out, then." Kuro walked to the door, stepping out into the hallway. Nat 'watched' silently, following after them to the door.

Nef followed quietly, murmuring a polite goodbye to Nathaniel as he stepped out of the man's apartment. He didn't have much to say to Kurono...he was an intimidating b*****d.

Kuro lead him down the hallway, coming to a door marked 318. He turned, offering Nef the keys. "Here you are. Please come by Oracle tomarrow afternoon to pick up your ID information." ^__^ Kuro tossed the keys to him, and walked off down the hallway.

"....Thanks," Nef replied, sighing as he unlocked his new apartment and stepped inside. Meh...high price tag in more ways than one. He pulled out his cell as he stepped inside, taking the place in and punching Flint's number. Momi'd be upset to be woken up, but this WAS kinda important.

Flint gave a sniff as his phone began ringing somewhere in his coat across the room. He ignored it, since he was rather warm and snuggly at the moment. It was late, he knew it... person should go away and call when it was SUNNY TIME?!

Momi, however, got a bit tired of the sound after about the fifth time it started ringing. "At this rate," he muttered, nudging Flint, "it's going to wake us up anyways. GET it already, you know it has to be family!"

Flint made a noise, burrowing under the covers, head buried beneath a pillow. His reply was muffled. "Damn them." ...after another ring he sat up, tossing the pillow aside and clammering out of bed. It took him a few more moments to weave drunkenly across the room to his coat, and dig the phone out of it's depths. "...you better be family."

"Morning, sunshine," Nef replied with a yawn, taking a seat on the most comfortable looking chair in the place and beginning to unload his knives. "Look, I know it's early but it's ******** important. Can you wake up?"

"Oh, I'm awake now." Flint turned around, perching on the desk. "What's up."

"You suck," Nef muttered, wishing he could wake up that fast for stupid phone calls. "Well, it's been a rough night. See, I was at Ame's place and everythigng was fine...then a couple of hours ago I had a nightmare. Not like...awwh scary nightmare. Like, Gan wakign up in a cold sweat screaming and carrying actual knife wounds nightmare. Scared the s**t out of me...I let slip my training to Ame, and we had a...fight I guess." He hadn't meant to mention the fight. s**t...he needed to talk more than he htought.

"Whoa, you had a fight with the st-... er Ameris? He didn't know you were an assassin? How did he miss that?" Flint blinked. "You okay? Where are you.. home?"

"Yes, he's a stripper, no, I hadn't told him...we keep the same late schedules. He...doesn't exactly approve of the killing." There was more to it, of course, and Nef tried to hide how much that hurt. "Anyways, so there's a knock at the door in the middle of this- before things got really bad. It's Kurono Meeki of all people, telling me the dreams are ******** important and mean s**t and i should go with him for training and answers and secrets and crap."

"You went, didn't you." Flint stood up, voice low. "GAH.. Nefarsin.. are you retarded?"

"It's not your problem, FLint," Nef growled, getting up to pace. "After he left- and I DID wait long enough to htink it out- was when Ame and i had the real fight. I got pissed off, got carried away...got some answers when I went and asked them. s**t...I'm going to evolve, Flint. I'll be the Emperor of Shadow."

"What the hell do you mean, 'its not my problem'...?" Flint sounded a little hurt, voice rising. He stalked out of the room, into the hallway so he could shout. "Are we not brothers anymore?"

"I said that because you're not dealing with it...Jesus, Flint. It takes a lot to scare me so bad I'm shaking like a leaf, and you know it." Rather than raising, his voice had gotten steadily quieter...seriously worried. "He said...that sometimes evolving is like ripping out of your skin. Our parents are working here, under lilith...I'd rather be close to them if something really does happen. It's...not like I can go back to Ame's place right now."

"You should like s**t, Nef. You really don't need to be alone right now." He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "You're not okay.. This is the first time I've heard you scared."

"Tell me about it." Nef went quiet for a few minutes, then took a deep breath. "I've got an apartment at this swanky place Oracle apparently owns...place is impersonal as all s**t. I can't picture myself living here, but God I hate going back to that house without either of them in it." He reeled off the adress and apartment number, adding the keycode once he found the paper. "I just...wanted someone else to know where I was. I'm going to try and track down either papa tomorrow." He didn't mention being lonely, or needing osmeone there...the ones he really needed were pissed or lost in Oracle somewhere. He wanted....was trying really hard...to stay strong for his little brother.

"You want me to come down there?" Flint frowned, pacing the hallway. "I mean, you're free to come here too.. s**t, it's not like you aren't welcome here."

"It's not that." Oh yeah, he was holding together REAL well today. "It's...s**t, I hate being this weak," he whispered, blinking back tears and hugging his knees tightly. In this new place with nothing at all like home, he felt like a damn little kid. "I mean, I knew the second he knocked on that door Meeki wasn't taking no for an answer. At least...at least this way I get some say in it, right? But I'm freaked out about this. s**c is on vacation on Imperial, our parents are with Lilith, Grandpa Fai and Kaolin are somewhere...I hate this."

.. I'm coming down there." Flint made his way back into the bedroom, moving through the room gathering his things together.

"It must come from Alain's side," Momi murmured sleepily, already half-unconcious again. "He was always so impetuous...beat some common sense into him, you'll both feel better." With that, he was out like a light again- screw school, anyways.

"Okay," Nef sighed, unhappy to be so exposed but desperately releived that he didn't have to be alone anymore. "Don't kill yourself getting here, okay?"

"Yeah, yeah. Hold it together.. I'll be right there." He hung up, sticking the phone back into his coat before slipping it on. He stuffed some other things into his bag, tossing that over his shoulder too. He then float over to the side of the bed Momi was on, and leaned over him, peering down at him. "Hey you.. I'm going to make sure Nef doesn't choke on anything in his new apartment. I'll call you in the morning, okay?" *kissu*

"Mmkay," Momi muttered, nuzzling againdt him for a moment before rolling back over. "Be saaaafe~ I'm skipping class, so I'll be here."

"Tsk, bad Momi." Flint headed out of the room, and out of the house.. following the directions his brother gave him to the 'swanky' apartment.

Nef hadn't really moved since he hung up. The door was unlocked, leaving him- with his knives on another table- the most vulnerable he'd been in years. He looked painfully exhausted, still clutching the cell as if for reassurance...or liek he was too tired to remember to put it down.

"Nef.. jesus." Flint walked into the apartment, tossing his bag down after turning to lock the door. He darted over and plopped down infront of him, taking the phone away and setting it aside. "... Hello?"

"Took you long enough," Nef murmured, leaning forward so that his head could rest on his brother's shoulder. "Guess I forgot to lock the door...s**t."

"Oy, you're the big brother.. you're supposed to be the one that holds ME." Flint grumbled, pulling Nef over and hugging him. "Is it really this bad..?" He glanced down at him, almost scared cause Nef was.

"I tried," Nef whispered. "I tried really hard, and I'm sorry Flint, cause this time I don't know what the ******** to do. The nightmares...I don't want to become what I saw. I'm terrified of it. It was enough to make me break cover to Ame...and now he's pissed at me, on top of everything, and all I want to do is just go hide in his damn closet or in papa's pocket and let this whole thing jsut go AWAY."

Flint dragged Nef up, tossing him back onto the couch before dissapearing into the kitchen. After a bit, the smells of food cooking drifted into the room. Flint reappeared with a warm drink, offering it out to him. "I made some food." o__o

"Is it a decent kitchen?" Nef managed, and laughed a little as he rubbed at his aching eyes and took the drink.v "If he gave me a craptastic kitchen, I swear I'm calling him up and bitching."

"The kitchen's fine. It's actually full of... food." Flint perched on the edge of the coffee table, head tilted. "So, what's the plan."

"Arrogant b*****d," Nef muttered, tugging his brother into the kitchen and feeling a little better with someone to pull him out of his own fears. "I'll go get my ID tomorrow, and track down our parents. Really, I want to find this Lilith...I bet he'd have half of the answers I'm looking for. In the meantime, I pray the nightmares don't come back."

"I'm here, I'll keep em away." Flint shrugged, moving about the kitchen tossing things to Nef. "So, what are we making.. I just boiled water and started cooking meat as a prep." XDD

"Chriiiiiiiiiiist, are you sure you're family?!" Nef sputtered, indignatnly taking over and nudging him out of the way. "Can't trust you with anything in here...how about garlic-mushroom steak and maybe...asparagus? Or grilled tomatoes?"

"Yeah, okay." Flint hid his grin, happy to see his brother returning to control. "You cook, I'll uh.. find the plates."

"Good luck," Nef muttered, and yawned as he located the pans he needed and lit a small bonfire on the stove. Better to cook fast, anyways, he was starving. "....What did Momi say?" He ventured, throwing the question over his shoulder and not turning to face his little brother. "It's not like either of you are morning people."

"He mumbled something inaudible, then said he was skipping class." Flint grunted, opening cabinets and not finding a single plate. "It's not like he needs school, bastards got top grades in the class."

"Look at his parent,s s**t I'd be an overacheiver too. 'You got a B?! HOSHIT THE WRATH OF GOD IS UPON YOU?!' I mean crap, talk about pressure." Nef shook his head, burning himself a little on the pan and snatching a potholder from a nearby hook. "Try looking under the cabinets, maybe? That's a stupid place to put plates, though..."

"I bet that's where they are." Flint mumbled, kneeling down to peek in cabinets. "Momi's fine.. his parents are pretty cool. It's been a little weirder lately tho.. something's going on with his dad."

Slightly incredulous, Nef turned and stared at FLint. "Umm...earth to Flint?! Didn't you listen to ANYthing dad told us? He got to help RAISE Momi's dad, cause Cher's dad is LILITH. He's a sneaky b*****d, supposedly, I bet that has soemthign to do with it."

"Yeah.. but, I mean- his parents were fighting a few times. They never fight." Flint found the plates, on the bottom shelf, and grabbed two before standing. "They were on the bottom shelf.. weird."

"I'll fix that tomorrow," Nef muttered. Even if he didn't want to LIVE much in this place, he'd be damned if the kitchen was staying that screwed up. "That really in strange, they fight like nothing compared to our parents. I dunno. I'll ask about it when I find papa, and call you if he knows anything...Maybe it's cause she's gonna hve a baby. It was pretty stressful when Papa had all you munchkins."

He shrugged. "I guess. So, you feelin better?" ^__^ Flint set the plates onto the little countertop/bar area, floating around it to sit on the barstools to watch his brother cook.

"...Yeah." The answer was quieter, but his smile was a little more stable when he reached back for one of the plates. "It's still scary as all s**t...but...all I can do is find my focus and work through it, right?"

"Right. Focus is good." Flint folded his arms on the counter, yawning. "Do like Mah, and meditate or something.. bet that might help."

Sliding a plate across the counter to him, Nef shook his head. "Training, Flintu. It's all about focus, balance, understanding yourself...come on, didn't Fai teach you any of that?"

"Yeah, but was I listening?" Flint shoved some foot into his mouth, giving his brother a grin. "So, what's going on with Ame?"

Way to take your bro off guard, FLint, Nef swore silently to himself as he felt his cheeks burn. He turned back to his stove so he could blame it on the heat, letting his food be a little bit more rare. He liked blood. "We're...close. Or we were. I like taking care of him. I don't think he'll talk to me now, though. We both said some pretty hateful s**t before i stormed off."

"Aww, your first fight. I feel like we should hug." Flint laughed a little, eatting a veggie. "So, this was all over you being an assassin? That's pretty messed up."

"Tell me about it," Nef sighed, turning off the stove and perching on a stool to pick at his own plate. "It's so stupid...you know, we were raised with no problem with the idea of death. Or killing people/things. I don't...know if I can mend this break, Flint." ._.

"If you can't mend it, then it wasn't something that was meant... I mean look at our family, it's full of ******** up relationships. If you can't pull whatever 'this' is ... then ... whoa." XD;; Flint gave him a nudge, smiling. "If you need any of my skills, I'd be happy to lend you some." ^__^ *evades deathblow*

With a perfectly straight face, Nef blinked at his brother and gestured with a fork. "Actually, I've more than once considered taking you to Ame's club for an education. Trust me, it's...fascinating." He managed to say it without laughing or blushing, then ducked his head to scritch at one wing. "Damn things itch like hell lately...and yeah, you're right. Hell, look at Fai and Kaolin." O_o;;

"Your wingly itches? Ew... " Flint made a face. "Maybe your molting, like a bird. XD" HAHA... "Have you tried talking to Ame again?"

"Shut UP, I remember when your horns were growing in and you rubbed your head on EVERYTHING," Nef shot back, tucking his wings back where they belonged and shaking his head. "It only happened a couple hours ago, Flintu. I...suppose I should try, though. I don't want him to think I'm dead or osmething."

"Testy, aren't we?" Flint replied, licking his plate before pushing it away. "If he's pissed, I think that's what he wants." He shrugged. "Call him- all he can do is... not answer. "

"Okay. Here, eat mine, you look starved." Nef knew damn well Ame could do much, much worse...but hell, he was feeling a bit better about the world. He slid his plate over to Flint and retrieved his cell from the living room, slowly dialing Ameris' number.

"Ew, this is not fully cooked, yo.. " Flint made another face, shoving it back over where Nef was sitting.

Amephone: *ringu?!*
Stranger: *answers phone* What?

Keeping his voice carefully neutral, Nef contained his immediate jealousy with great difficulty. "I need to speak with Ameris, please," he said, repressing his accent as much as possible. "It's important."

"Who's this?" The voice replied, sounds in the background of loud music and maybe a few other people.

Oh yeah. This was going to work. Still, Nef didn't have any other answers to give...he sighed, reluctantly. "Tell him it's Nefarsin," he said, just loud enough to be heard over the music.

"Hold on." The voice switched to french, calling out over the loud voices and music. There was a few strings of pretty words exchanged before the voice returned. "He's busy and can't come to the phone." *click*

Hurt, Nef stared at the phone for a minute. His self confidence camecrashing down again...until it hit ground floor, no where else to go, and came back up pissed. He stalked back into the kitchen, placing his knivs in their sheathes around his body, and scowled at his brother. "Son of a b***h...I don't know who that guy was, but he hung up on me in Ame's place. You know, it's jsut NOT in my gene pool to accept rejection like a kicked ******** dog." -_-

Flint blinked, before giving a big grin. "Hell YEAH! Let's kick his a**!?!"

"Let's go," Nef replied grimly, flicking his scarf back around his shoulders and grabbing the key. "The sounds either mean he's having a damn party, or he's at work. We'll try the club first, it makes a little more sense."

"YAY! I get to see this infamous club." Flint glee'd, following after his brother. "So, if you don't kick this persons a**- I'm not letting you live it down."

"With pleasure," Nef replied, yanking on fingerless black glovers on the way out of the apartment. The club was close, so he ignored the car he'd stolen a few weeks ago- besides, FLint would want to drive. XD "Up this block, then left two. It's hard to miss."

Flint lifted an eyebrow, keeping his eyes open for the 'club that was hard to miss'. "Did you recognize the person on the phone at all?"

"He was speaking French, like Ame-ru- but that doesn't mean s**t. Could be a brother, for all I know...God forbid. I don't usually talk to people at the club...they're busy, you know."

"Busy, hmm?" Flint tucked his hands into his pockets, trailing along- this was his brother's show. He was just along for the asskicking. XD

Vaguely amused through his anger, Nef tugged his brother through a shortcut- that klead them through the peaceful streets and RIGHT into the neon lights of the club. "Sneaky place. In here- and if anyone asks, you're 18 with a sexy babyface, mmkay?"

Flint choked down a laugh, nodding. "Sure, whatever you say 'boss'."

Duckign inside, Nef took a moment for his eyes to adjust to the change in light before leading Flint farther into the crowd. His eyes were locked on the stage, searchign for any sign of Ameris. "Try not to get too distracted- Momi's gonna kill me as it is."

"WHOA." Flint screeched, dragging along behind his brother. The dancer on the stage currently was just finishing up, the room was dimming as they were making their exit. The stage went black, the glow from the back lights around the tables and dance floor the only light keeping people from being in total darkness. Even tho the music had stopped from the previous dancer, people kept moving on the floor. A few seconds later, the music picked up again followed by huge pillars of fire from the floor to the ceiling. Flint blinked, enjoying the hell out of the place already.

"Good night to visit," Nef murmured, sitting him at a table and waiting patiently for the next set to start. "I love the fire, it really makes the atmosphere...but wait till you really see the dancers."

After the flames were set into place, and a warm haze washed through the crowd causing everyone to turn thier attention, a figure sauntered out from the platform through a wall of fire surrounding him. The light flickered off his hair, causing it to appear more red than pink. He was dressed in just enough to leave your imagination pricked, but still not enough to be legal on anyone's street. Ame made his way down the platform onto the stage, little bits of costume catching the firelight and sparkling. A few of the other dances move in to flank him, as the music picked up and they began their routine. Flint lifted an eyebrow, forgetting they were looking for someone in the crowd and offering his attention to the stage. "... not bad."

Nef's breath caught, as it always did...there was never a time he could get used to those entrances, look away from him on stage. "You should meet him in person," he murmured to his brother, eyes locked on his lover. "He's just as flammable on the street as he is on the stage. That's Ameris, Flint."

"Yea.. how the hell did I know that was coming." Flint sighed, shaking his head. "So, where's the guy?" He glanced around the front tables, eyes narrowing at the dim light and the bright flames from the stage.

"Could be anyboody French," Nef murmured, stepping away from the table. "Stay here and keep an eye out...I think I'll go make myself known." He slipped away from the table like he couldn't move fast enough, heading down to the edge of the flames. He'd done it very rarely before...but he wasn't watching, tonight. He was stalking, and the flames traced the lines of his body like a predator as he flickered through the crowd, flame-touched eyes growling low as he watched Ame dance.

Ame wasn't paying all that much attention to the crowd, since he was pissed off and putting his energy into grinding his heels into the glass stage beneath his steel pin stilleto boots. He turned on heel, rolling his eyes as the music switched again, following thier routine easily.. it was one of the more popular- so he'd done it thousands of times. To the right of the stage, his 'friends' were watching- most likely getting drunk and charging up his phone. How annoying. Flint, on the other hand, was working on getting a drink. ;3

Nef always loved it when the music did what he wanted it to. He'd seen this dance so many times he could sleepwalk it- he'd even used the steps as practice for precision and grace, so this was an old friend. Usually, he would never, never attempt it in public...but he figured tonight had earned a few surprises. You might not like me when you come down, Ame-ru, but you'll sure as hell notice when I kick you up. He stepped onto the floor, circling Ameris twice before taking a place behind him, raking his nails across his body...in perfect movement to the music.

Flint's eyes snapped wide, peering at the stage like.. HAHA?! People at the tables and on the dance floor didn't seem to mind at all, and carried on with more entusiasm if anthing. Ame's eyes narrowed, not skipping a beat as he switched the dance to fit two performers. He glanced over his shoulder, lifting a hand to touch the side of Nef's face as he did so. "What are you doing here." He growled out between breaths.

"Make-up sex is better in public," he purred, letting the sound roll off of his lips and trail along Ame's throat. He had no problem at all keeping up with him- maybe he should have tried this before. He yanked him close again, eyes angry. "Your friend can't hang up on me from here."

"Jealous?" Ame purred back, eyes reflecting the fire back at him. He pushed him away, spinning around and slinking a few paces away.

Nef followed, hand flicking down in a sharp gesture that changed the mood- bringing in the hot flash of a cold, silver blade. He reached out long to trail the metal down Ame's skin, careful not to cut...yet. When he had his attention, he stepped in front of him with knives fanned in both hands, tongue flicking across his lips with the heat. "I haven't yet given up my claim," he growled, sliding a steaming glance sideways to tempt the crowd. "He's got a ******** fight if you think I give up so easy."

"It's not him you have to worry about." Ame growled back, lifting his hands up to tie his hair back securely. "You dropped whatever claim you thought you had when you left." He took another step forward, slipping his foot within Nef's to get as close to him as possible without being in his skin. His fingers brushed up against Nef's arm, to his shoulder, the scarf around his neck, and into his hair. Ame leaned into him, head tilted as he murmured across Nef's lips. "You have to try harder than that, amour." With a flick of his fingers across the hidden wings he'd learned to find in seconds, he shifted with the music and dissapeared from infront of him, strutting back down the platform to the front of the stage.

It nearly sent Nef to his knees, and the way he turned his head to follow Ame with his eyes was nearly feral. With a few breaths, he found his control again, stalking his prey with knives flashing through his hands. The crowd didn't exist anymore- except that, just for their pleasure, the knives stilled as the shreds of his shirt slid off his shoulders like well-trained hands, leaving his pale skin bare to absorb the heat as he caught Ameris around the waist. "I never have to try, koibito," he whispered. "You gave me everything you had- I won't let you take it so carelessly." His teeth grazed sharply down Ame's neck, hesitating one agonizing moment before biting down nearly hard enough to draw blood.

Ame choked back a yelp from the bite, eyes closing with the effort to keep himself from dropping the anger and the routine. The music faded down as the number ended, the lights flickering dim then dark as the stages began to change. As the darkness hit, the flames were out and the sudden rush of air flew around them as the fans kicked in. Ame's eyes snapped back up, and he reacted out of training and anger. His elbow came up, slamming into Nef's abdomen even as his free hand grabbed one of the ones at his waist. The dancer spun, boots made for just the motion, and got distance from the assassin he was facing. He blinked a few times, breath coming in short gasps as he regained sanity. Ame's hand came up to his throat, touching the spot he'd been bitten and feeling the marks. Without another word he found the guidelights on the stage and dissapeared into the back. Flint darted up to the stage, leaning at the edge. "Nef? Hey NEF?!"

"No!" Nef growled, darting away from his brother and towards the back. His knives were gone in a breath, and one hand stayed pressed to his side- that had hurt. Catching his breath was proving difficult, but he wasn't about to let this fall apart so easily. He tracked Ame by smell- right now, he had his scent s firmly in his nose that everything else was pale in comparison.

Flint grunted, hopping up onto the stage and darting after his brother. After getting lost in the occasional stripper group, he managed to catch sight of him and follow.. XD;; As Nef approached Ame's door, a familiar voice was waiting. "You're not allowed back here!" The guy from the phone.

The scarf was in his hands before he even thought about it. It should probably have disturbed him, that it came so easily- but as it flicked through his hands, he felt the heavy wire it held and smiled darkly. The shadows pulled at him, making him bite his lip with pleasure. "Either you get out of my way, or I will cut you," he stated softly, wings raising slightly as his eyes lost their pupils. "You have no place to keep me from his side."

The man at the door frowned, lifting an eyebrow. "I said, you don't belong back here.. pal. Ameris isn't recieving visitors.. leave, before I call the bouncers."

"And I said, I will cut you." The tone was flat, and the scarf flicked out- leaving a deep, bloody mark on the man's arm. "You may call whoever you please, but only he will turn me away- not some flunky who has no concept of how close he is to dying right now."

"Tsk! You wouldn't daaaaaaaaaaaare." The man grabbed the wound on his arm, hissing at him. He darted off, most likely to summon his back up and come back. Flint appeared, eyebrows raised. "I'll guard the door, go on."

"Don't kill too many people," Nef murmured, scarf spinning back around his neck as he stepped inside. It was a measure of how much he trusted Flint- that was new. "Ame-ru?" He called softly, hunting for him.

"Nef, you need to leave this place." Ame was standing at the mirror, head bowed and hair falling around his face to conceal it.

"I know." He stepped close, not touching- but close enough to feel. "I...didn't think anything like this would happen. I just wanted a chance to talk to you...I was angry. Again." A deep breath hissed through his teeth, one arm wrapping around his stomach again. "I just...wanted to tell you something, is all."

"..." Ame lifted his head slightly, turning a little towards him. "What is it?"

So hard to say...it hurt almost as much as breathing. "I got my answers- some of them, anyways," he whispered. "And i know we have some serious s**t to work out...but I need you right now. I need you- not your body, but Ame-ru who's voice sings me to sleep at night. The same one who always gets me in trouble...and makes me like it. Please...give me this chance to prove my truth to you again, listen to me just one more time..."

Ame's eyes were covered in a sheen of tears he was fighting to keep in. He stepped forward, hands on eitherside of Nef's face. ".. Nefarsin.. I -" The words got caught in his throat and he looked down, swallowing. "I've li-" His voice was cut off by the sudden sound of a gunshot outside and voices shouting. Ame's head snapped up, eyes wide as he whispered to himself. "It's too late..."

Nef's eyes narrowed, and he pulled Ame close enough to kiss him, so lightly, before pulling away. "I don't care," he said softly, and flicked a card into his hand. "My address. Don't ******** me over again, Ame-ru- but I'll be waiting." He darted out into the hall, snarling. "FLINT. Where the ******** are you?!"

The man from before had returned, with two of the bouncers. They were on the right side of the hallway, the man from the phone holding a gun and quickly turning the smoking barrel at Nef... hands shaking. "S-stop with there! I don't want to shoot anyone else!" The bouncers looked uneasy behind him.

"You are dead," Nef whispered emotionlessly, snapping forward with the same lack of care that had nearly killed his father years before. The scarf flicked out, blades live and flashing as they circled at head-level- let them shoot him. He'd earned it. The shadows pulled tighter, and his eyes slowly bled completely black- no white at all.
