Well, we're a public guild now, a 6 to 2 vote means that we are what we are now.

Making the guild public would make the guild more accessible to the everyman. Actually making the guild accessible to its existing membership was my first goal. By limiting the subforums to what they are now, makes the guild easier to get around.
If we made it public, it could very well open itself up to a greater audience. Now I have been hanging around the 'n00b' ssbm guild on gaia for a while, and no K-0S, they don't get random spammers. Just misguided fools from time to time.
It is up to us to guide the wayward souls into a future of greater smashers.
If we turned the guild public, it would also mean a bit more work for existing moderators, and the necessity for extra moderators.
So this is the new vote, and I want everyone's opinion.
Should we go public?

Here are a list of things I'd like to do with the guild, I want everyone to give a yay or nay on each. The first is the most important one though.
1. Get rid of 2 subforums
- The subforums are indeed dead or dying, It is my belief that if we cram everything into one big can-o-spam like we did originally, it could work way better.
2. Change the name
- In light of the recent attack, even though it won't help much, I'd like to change the name of the guild, if not only to throw off the hacker if he returns, but it give the guild a new image.
If there are any other suggestions or changes you'd like to see made, feel free to make them here.

Phase 1: Change all of the subforums - Complete!
I have changed the subforums and have moved all of the bigger threads around, I would ask all of the mods to pitch and help get rid of all of the threads in the 'mod's only' fourm/ move them to the spam fest forum, in fact, if you're not sure, just move it there anyway.
I wasn't able to delete the subforums outright, so I just changed them:
a) Mod's Only: Exactly that, a mods only forum for discussing forum disputes and paying out K-0S behind his back.
b) Spam Fest: Exactly that, spam all you want in there, just remember, being in there is like swimming outside of the red and yellow flags, there's nobody there to save you if you get caught in a spam rip.
c) Everything Else: Exactly that, everything that isn't spam or smash related goes here.
Also, could the mod's please read the announcements in each of the subforums, and take action as necessary, it would be a great help.

I've changed the name, something that is different, but mainstream.

I was thinking more like 'The Guild For Advanced Super Smash Bros. Melee' something general, but something that would actually appear when people search for SSBM guilds. We could then make reference to the previous name.

We could then make reference to the previous name. Good point, I agree we need more members, but we also need to appeal to a wider gaming audience if we want consistant posters.

i vote we call it "The SUPER Smash Brothers", that'd be awesome i reckon, bad pun... and i think an update is needed on the homepage image... i'll make one to do with the new name when it has been decided... i will need some ideas of what you'll want the pic to contain... ie: who, what, characters?

i agree we need more members but im not too crazy bout the idea of random noobs arguin in the threads, our members have to be intelligent and skilled at the game.
for a name how bout the sages of smash? we could be SoS rofl

I say delete everything except this thread, discuss and agree in unison, well.. majority what threads will be made. Allow for a misc subforum where things like, "Smash Tunes".. or "The best player you have ever played" ya know.. things. Threads for the mainpage may have to be asked by members to be made so is junk can be reduced (for the time being)
Seriously, go through and tell me how many threads have served its purpose and is now just junk.
Also, I suggest all threads not used in 2 weeks be deleted (Aside from stickys/announcements) or, they have some significant purpose or usage that may take longer, such as, Ward History or "Smash hurdles"

I'm all for the renaming, it would make it seem more like a smash guild rather than a crew guild that others can visit.

meh, I dont care what happens. do what you please! all I ask is that the SSBM and PSO discussion stickies stay.
oh and I dont think we really should go through deleting threads, I mean if people want to see what has been discussed and what not they should be able to (I know I dont for the most part, but sometimes I'll remember something and go back to see what was said, usually only happens if it was something funny for me but still, you get the point). if anything though we should probably just lock really old threads so they dont get necroed. (and really old threads would be those over a year old and what not)
