stressed I want to hold an organized riot against my school system and city. The mayor here doesn't know how to run anything and the district board wants us to over-excell and has made it into something that has to be done. I can't graduate unless I'm better than the average student.

D: It could have something to do with pressure from No Child Left Behind, as that speaks of attempts to make every student over-excel in academics in an alarmingly unrealistic way. :[
What're they doing?

They want every student to take an extra class/extra year of science/extra year of history, and we have to do 20 hours community service Senior year. In my AVID class we do ten a semester AND HAVE to take an A.P. course.

I laugh at your 20 hours. We have to do 50. It's ridiculous and I'm furious.
But AP classes are still optional for most of us. The competition is insane, though. Applying for college is just a nightmare now because of this insanity.

50 a year? That sucks. But since I'm in AVID-a hardcore college prepatory class-I have to do 40 when I'm a Senior, and in total I'll have done 100. Life wasted on cleaning a store.

We only have to do 40 hours total for all four years sweatdrop We have the Macro system for this year, which means we only have four classes for 1 and 1/2 hours a piece. So, we only have to have 2 Math, 2 Science, 4 English, 1 Gym/Health, 4 Geography/History/etc., and 2 Foreign Languages. But that's about to chance since we're switching to Trimesters... joy >> I'm glad I'm only a Freshman....

I really do like school, but overall I just hate my Math 2 class. Yes, "Math2". It's between retarded mathematics and geometry clasess.

Psmith None of it really matters, unless you want to get into Harvard colleges just want your money. Have you considered teachers and proffessors, as well as board members, that care for the education of the state, as well as the development of your personal self within the nation?

I'm in my 3rd year of college with a 9.95 gpa- but does that mean my ideas are always better? Nope. They can't expect every one to be abnormally amazing at things! And besides, the way things are marked these days, out image of 'perfection' is flawed anyways. Who are we to say if one person has a more acute perception of reality then another?

I'm only a Sophmore in Highschool and I can tell you all of my school board and everything sucks. We had an ice day one week, and yes it was ice because in Georgia, we don't get snow. But the roads were covered in ice and everything. Every single freakin county besides mine was closed, and a bunch of the cities within my county their schools were closed. My parents said screw it and allowed me to stay home, and even though there was school three school buses had been totalled and a bunch of other car accidents happened within that day because of icey roads, near my highschool or on the way to my highschool. That's only one problem my highschool has. The other problem is over population. That's self explanatory, but still our school is expecting a total of four thousand students at my school Freshman to Seniors at my school. Our school building is three stories and already we have twenty-six trailers and they're tacking on forty more. Another problem is gangs, drugs, violence, and bullying at my school. There is a group of kids who walk up to a gas station next to my highschool and are visable and they are seen smoking weed and other such acts of drug usage. The gas station also sells them ciggaretts and the kids have stolen from the gas station numerable amounts of times. My school hasn't done anything to stop it and it's been brought to my principal's attention by my friends and I along with bullying. Bullying at my school no teachers stop it in the class rooms and it's frequent in the hallways, and it's not just the normal, "Hey, let's pick on the freshman!" It's, "Let's pick on everyone because we want to feel superior." Don't even get me started on the gangs or violence. I haven't had much trouble academic wise...and I'm not at all sure what goes on academics and everything only because I think I don't quite understand yet being a Sophmore, but I can tell you our school and school system isn't one of the best...

The higher classes are being cut in my school to make room for get this BENCHES outside and a new school sign. Then everyone has to do 10 hours of community service and write a paper about it. Its not that bad, I have 15 hours done. The school has basically cut out all the advanced classes so now if you are smart enough they send you off to the college early and pay for it.
