This is a little conversation that my husband and I have all the time. Most of our recasting has been for The Wizard of Oz and Jesus Christ Superstar. So, pick a classic movie and tell me who you'd put in the main roles if you were remaking it today.
Examples: Wizard of Oz Dorothy: Amanda Bynes or Kelly Rowland (though she's a bit too old now) Cowardly Lion: Will Sasso (from MadTV)
Jesus Christ Superstar: Mary Magdalene: Christina Aguilera Jesus: Chris Cornell (though my husband says he's too old now) Judas: Jack White
You get the idea.

Why would you want to give Amanda Bynes work?

Cuz she's cute and talented, imo. Are there cooler young actresses out there? Sure, but "cool" does not make for a good Dorothy.

There are no more young actresses. They're all just there for show. Talent in movies for a younger audience is obsolete.
